    There is nothing more joyful and satisfying than braking in a new Nitro. The level of satisfaction and action is thrilling. Traxxas are truly an amazing product that has proven through time, their reliability, consistency and excellent product. Traxxas parts are readily available, their product is very durable, and their engines will run for a long time, with good tuning and care. Excellent video, thank you Hybrid

    HELP WANTED! So I bought a nitro slash and straight out the box I fill it up and turn it on to start the break in procedure. The brakes were very weak, and the throttle started sticking. The gear got sheared and the engine started running away it ended up cutting itself off a couple seconds after running wide open rpms. What do I need to do to fix this truck? And is the engine okay after that or no? I’m new to nitros and don’t know much about all the little parts that go along with a nitro engine.

    What’s up my dude happy to see you here, trust me. You should definitely pick this model up and offers the best price and the most speed you can possibly get also it’s a pretty impressive looking nitro when you have it right in front of you with a short, course, body and style. If possible, please click the link in this description and help me get a tiny little bit of commission because the Nitro gang is on a downward spiral world right now.

    I recently got that exact one, it's epic! Mine came mega rich too, safe, but I had to lean out the low jet a touch because it wouldn't start the second tank, 1/16 of a turn was all it needed to finish the break in.

    I’m new to RC’s and this one catches my eyes! Would you recommend it? I am tool savvy and am confident I can maintain the motor. Has it been reliable?

  • @ravenshield7823

    @ravenshield7823

    6 ай бұрын

    It's a lot of maintenance. I mean it literally hauls so much ass that it can only be compared to a regular vehicle going 600 at a scale level. So, things are going to wear, and they will need vigilance in the maintenance dept. Mine has run fine, I was very careful and haven't broken anything due to crashing, but I have a very large area to open it up, but not for long since it's a rocket. I made a little coarse a was flying through the air well. It's very nimble and there is so much aftermarket support you can make it anything you want. I upgraded the servo to all metal, the shocks to proline, A arms and Nuckles and stuff to all aluminum. Got rid of the easy start in favor of the pull start. Not because it didn't work, it was just lighter and if that battery is dead than you are SOL till it charges. I like the pull start better; you just have to take the top off if it stalls from roll overs. I ran it rich mostly, and instead of leaning it out, I went with a smaller pinion, which would rev it too high, and I started burning up glow plugs, so I went back to stock gearing and worked on the tune better and got it running just nasty, so I would recommend stock gears for sure because plugs are expensive. Never actually burned a plug out with the stock gears. So what do I mean about maintenance, well, for starters, after your done running it, you need to really have a compressor to blast off all the debris, this will save you so much effort and really blast the motor off because you will be pulling the glow plug to flood it with WD40 till your next run. So there is that, just for peace of mind for the motor, which you will have to pull the plug again to cycle all the oil out before trying to start it again. There is the air filter, which has two foams, and the outer one will need washing with dish soap and a light oiling as needed. You can easily dry it off after a wash by squeezing it in paper towels. Don't over oil these or it will have a hard time breathing and more heat will result. This thing can dig a trench so it's not uncommon to get sand inside and really chew up the spur gear every few runs. the clutch pegs will burn out in no time if your clutch spring nut loosens on you so that is something to pay close attention to. I used one of the wheel nuts from hot racing or something like that , that I had bought instead of the stock nut because it has knurling, and it never loosened on me after that. Crashing, if you don't have the brake tuned right will be very common but I had the brake set very well and made damn wel sure it was perfect every use. And I didn't have any complaints about its stopping or capability, you just need to be careful is all. I mean one full throttle crash would be like what you see in a dragster race gone bad. Tires, depending on the surface wear pretty quick, If you like ballooning them at full throttle they can come unglued from the rotational stretch. Always check all frame bolts and motor mount bolts and use some glue on the ones you don't want to loosen up."Seal all" is like a rubber cement but is automotive and will dry even if contacted by oil and that is what I use, and nothing would loosen on me unless I wanted it to. The Nitro Slash is easily worth the price, it's just that all the other things add up quicker. Fuel for one is not cheap, but if it's your hobby and have a passion for it then I don't see how you could go wrong with it, it's really something to behold when you open it up, and if you keep it clean all the things I talk about will give you a longer grace period before needing fixing. I really wanted to get into more than I am and Mine is in perfect shape, just needs a tire glued. I got a Futaba T4PM plus and the lipo for it. I put the NIHM in the truck instead of the 4 double AA's which I would definitely recommend. The whole Battery and charger thing get a bit complicated if you ask me but also not cheap to invest in. So It's a lot to think about. If I had to do it again. I'd probably get the Losi TT pro. I think Nitro is really cool, but it is loud, messy, and more to worry about than something like the TT Pro. I was also considering building a Techno but I kind of lost interest for whatever reason.

    I think that's why you will see a lot of people keeping it on the road, But that takes all the fun out of it. It is worth it because it gets to a point where it wouldn't work without you. And you become your own pit crew. It's also really surprising how much a minor shock or camber adjustment can make to handling. It's a journey and you gotta start somewhere. Good luck.@@stogie0608

    Hey man, thanks for reaching out and let’s see if we can help you with your high idol. In my experience it is almost always a very lean low speed needle on these models. You should first make sure that your idol gap is about .8 of a millimeter and then, turn your low speed needle counterclockwise and listen to the idle drop and the RPM should drop down to that will point you in the right direction, after that, begin reaching your high-speed needle. The goal is just to reach a point where your car is taking a tune, and you can only do this by reaching both needles and seen at which point it will start to go in the right direction. Let me know.
