The engine sounds off. Low speed is to lean and the idle gap could be off. Possibly too small. It does sound like it has a bad bearing or something

Gonna completely rebuild the engine soon.

What’s wrong with your exhaust system sounds like somebody stuffed it full of steel wool, and I also just realize some thing go ahead and take your back plate off of the engine and look at the piston and the rod your piston also may be backwards that might be causing it to keep stalling and not want to run correctly I’ve been running these things for five years and I know when something doesn’t sound right and yours doesn’t sound right

As far as I know, the exhaust is fine. I will definitely take the engine apart and see what’s wrong. Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I didn’t kill it.

isn't it too lean a mixture? Very much like this. Start with factory settings, and then lean according to the traxxas instructions. Have you maintained the engine properly?

Thanks for tuning in! It’s been a while since I’ve ran the Nitro Slash. It was the first engine that I broke in. I was having trouble getting it started with the factory carb settings. I messed with them until it ran. So after a few gallons I believe that the engine needs to be rebuilt due to the way that I was running it. I just have to take the time to do it. Thanks for the tips though. I guess I had to learn the hard way. 🫡

@@hobbymanrc79 What exactly were the problems with the start?

@@reaklyf3451 At the time I didn’t know but I just had to turn the throttle trim up a little to get it started. Plus the head warmer that I was using wasn’t getting the engine warm enough when preheating. I started using a heat gun since then.

@@hobbymanrc79 I didn't warm it up or throttle trim it. I just put a couple of drops of oil into the engine and it started like clockwork. This helps start the engine, but the absence of these things should not prevent the engine from starting. Maybe you got into trouble because you thought something was wrong. Alright, keep me posted and thanks for answers

@@reaklyf3451 At the time I thought that I had to adjust the needles. I feel that I've gotten better at tuning since then. I have broken in a few engines since the Traxxas 3.3 and haven't had the issues I had in the beginning anymore. I do plan on getting the Nitro Slash back on the road though. Looking for a few upgrades then its a go🫡

Those 3.3s are frightfuly disappointing for how long they've been out. Had a Slayer 3.3 around 2011-12 and it was betterthan anything on the market. Absolute bulletproof compared to any of the others id dealt with. These days they just seem plagued by carb issues and gasket failures. Bought a Revo 3.3 this year and sold it immediately when it became a tuning nightmare. The O.S. line from Kyosho is far superior in every way. It aint your tuning that's the problem, it's traxxas not fulfilling the basic QC requirements for a Nitro engine.

I was beginning to think that I wasn’t getting better at tuning. lol One day I will take the 3.3 out and disassemble it to give it a look see. I have a Kyosho KE .21 from an MP9 and was thinking to myself that it would run better back-plated and with a better pipe and header. Going to by some more nitro supplies soon. Making my list as we speak.
