Hi William, I'm not that good I'm just not afraid to fail. If you fail enough you become good because you learn each time.
Mike, I think your videos are really great. Unlike some other woodturner’s who seem to miraculously turn out museum pieces every time without a word of explanation, your practical and down to earth commentaries are very useful to aspiring woodturner’s like me. The pieces you produce are excellent and I intend to use your videos as a guide to some future projects I want to do. Thank you for what you do and please just keep doing it. In my opinion you deserve 10 times the number of subscribers that you have and hopefully you’ll get there very soon. Well done.

Hello Mike, I think you have brought a new meaning to “trash to treasure”. This really is a rather lovely lidded bowl that would merit pride of place in any setting. I think you should try and buy more of these off cuts - they certainly bring out the talent in you. And we will get to see what wonders you can create with them. Have a good week and I will look forward to watching your next video.

Another belter, Mike!! I don't care whose off-cuts they are, in your hands they become "yours"! By the way, according to Jim Sprague, a useful rule of thumb when using the "rice method" to work out how much resin you need... Once you have the amount of rice, multiply by 1.4. This will be the amount of resin you need, taking into account the gaps between the wood, and the space between the grains of rice. Hope this helps!
@MikeHolton
2 ай бұрын
Thanks Phil, I would say it is a little less as you not need to allow for the gaps between the rice as they are still there when you put them in a measuring pot.
You inspired me to make a totally different form of pet urn. People tend to want more colour in the urns. And the size fits for bigger dogs as well. I'm going to use my own offcuts. Thanks for sharing.

You know that dinner invite? Was it risotto you were making? Seems my wife will be washing her hair that night. This pot is more 1970's than the whole of 1970 put together. I absolutely love it in its crazy colours and mottled heritage. The lid makes it. Everything in life is a trade-off, good separate colours means you couldn't shake it up too much and left you air pockets. Mike you are so level headed and just take this stuff in your stride. Wood turning, conversation and wonderful art. It's all there. Did you make the chunks on your new rock-band saw? The remaining offcuts will make excellent giant mug handles...
