Are you using push pull on your traps? I have never gotten a possum or skunk in my unmodified dukes. I get them all the time in my conibear traps.

might try some sweet, sugary baits. skunks seems to like the fish/meat baits. probably not totally skunk proof but may help.

I don't mind catching skunk. I find that after catching a skunk that trap normally will catch more. I trap coyotes, bobcat, and raccoons. I use skunk as a call lure and cover sent on almost all traps. Good video thanks for sharing long forward to watching more

What do you do with the possums? Sell em whole or skin and try to sell em?

If you use a pole with a needle and syringe filled with some acetone. They won't spay at all. Had a buddy get 5 last year non of the them sprayed

Shoot a skunk in the spine they spray when their tail goes to a 90° angle with the body. Without spine they don't move the tail. Good luck

The possum may be playing dead and you planned on letting him go; "he's a little guy." What's your method of releasing animal from a DP trap? Just in case those "little guys," come to life.😆

16 oz. hydrogen peroxide, 1/8 cup baking soda, 1/2 tsp. any liquid soap. Mix a ND apply, must make physical contact. Will neutralize skunk scent in about 3 seconds. It neutralizes, does not mask scent.

OK I got racoons in my backyard and freaks me out when I take out the trash, What's the best way to get rid of them without seriously hurting or killing them? I just want them gone.

+Benny Hassan Hello, thanks for commenting. Best way to get rid of them is to use a live trap. They are simple to install and you can easily relocate them. Best bait is marsh mellows. Don't put anything meat based you'll catch a skunk

What is the reason..........I am interested? Are raccoons stealing something or possums? Possums usually help with getting rid of bugs that hurt crops or eat deer ticks that spread disease.

Thats the first time I've heard that. Around here possums and raccoons eat chicken eggs. The animals I catch get skinned and sent to Canada for the fur trade.

Illinois Trapper Outdoors Ok. Just interested instead of attacking someone about something I don't know about. I have been a bow hunter and firearm hunter since I was a teen in the late 1970's. I live in a bigger city, Philadelphia, but we have one of the largest public parks in the world. I see on a regular basis deer, fox, groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, possum and raccoons, and even a wild turkey because I live a block from the park. The possums are known to be good for gardens in our area. Raccoons and Possums live right in trees in many city regions and actual city neighborhoods, eating out of trashcans, etc. They can be pests but are just a novelty pretty much. The most fear is about rabies in raccoons in the city. Now I understand how they are utilized in your region. Thanks for the education.

You obviously don't live in the country. Raccoons are beyond destructive. They kill chickens and roosters. They spread rabies disease to dogs. They steal deer food. Just worthless. Shoot them all.

I have caught more possum this year than any too must be the year.

Alota people just don't realize how much damage raccoons do and the way they reproduce so fast..doesn't help that one of the most recent epic popular movies of the decade featured Rocket Raccoon..

Everybody is saying they stay in the woods because it's their natural habitat and this is not true. They eventually end up on your property and into your trash and then into your attic or basement and scrap with your dog or cat and dig holes and eventually it is a problem. So getting them in the woods prevents this 90% of the time.

Just picked up some of these dog proof traps. First night 2 of the 3 traps had coons. Great traps so far

I hate raccoons so much they destroyed my freshly painted bumper this video brings me joy

catching the opossums helps to pay for your gas anyway....I don't have a way to keep them from spraying but once you get them out of the trap I have a way to get the funk outta the skunk...1 pint of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full of water, a big squirt of Dawn dishwashing soap...then just give the skunk a bath in the solution and that should remove the funk so that you can skin them out......works awesome and we also use it on our dogs if they get sprayed....I make a ton of money selling skunk pelts so you shouldn't let them scare you

Hey, skunks don't like to climb. Put your trap up higher, and that should solve that problem. Also, Opossums are actually a good animal. How do you release them? That might be a good video. Sorry about the ignorant haters on here.

So what do you end up doing with the possums? I never hear of them being worth much after trapping. Raccoons are finally starting to get a little better when it comes to fur prices, certainly nothing what they used to be years ago before the greenies ruined the fur market.

bring an airgun to dispatch your skunk, then heart shot him! The quiet pinch doesn't alert him.

I just hope you arent just keeping hides. use as much of the animal as you can. Keep it respectful. I would prefer a fast kill. No pain or distress for the animal. Trapping for survival? Do what ya gotta. Zero fault there. Trapping for hides? Not much use for those folks.
