Ive been trapping for years and the best advice i can give is, You need to stay back and not go up to your traps look from a distance and if no luck dont get close to it keep your sent out as much as possible good luck

Ray Harp I can’t speak for its efficacy , but I read that if you don’t frighten the skunk And shoot a major organ- heart/lungs ( besides brain) that they usually won’t spray )

Make sure trap bed is solid coyotes are hard to catch it needs look natural scent dont matter as much as location and bed solid as far skunks I use a kill pole with needle and syringe and acetone the never spray fill there lungs with acetone quick painless sprayless death

late season it also means more skunks. last season I took 3 big prime skunks in one set they are a good thing to go after super useful.

On your DP's...mix an ounce of shellfish oil to a pint of fish oil. Then use it to put down sent trails to and from your dp's...catch rate will go up.

I don’t know you but I’m 14 trapping down here in Quincy IL I know is 2017 video but if ur still trapping in 2019 good luck this season

Try a trap on the little ridge to the right of the fence corner where trap 9 is with some kind of atractor and don't get too carried away setting the trap - and then don't go near it to check it. That goes for you other traps too. some critters only cycle through once a week or so, and a week of you approaching your traps to "check them", causing a disturbance and dumping your scent all over is quite likely causing you to miss some good fur. It's great to have sets where you can check them with binoculars! Just my thoughts...

I haven't been Trapping very long my 1st season an done got 14 total. Just a tip on the DPs I just use a strong peice of wire or cable and have my traps like so, makes much easy for getting an oit quicker

Coyote trapping advice: in that field? Set a hay set/dirt hole set (either one works. I'd put a dirt hole) about 10-15 feet off the edge of the woods. They'll run the edge of those woods to hunt food. Cover your dirt holes like half way with something (bone, small piece of wood, anything that you find nearby) and for your diggers leave your trap, and set another trap about 2-3 inches away from the other, they walk up to dig, feeling secure, and hit that other trap.

I've trapped for about 15 years, and a good remake on a set that you catch a skunk in can be super deadly. Also put in a fresh 1 next to it. For 3 reasons I eye appeal, the smell of the skunk, and cover scent. The only problem I have had is I get a few that just roll and fire the Trap.

Appreciate it and if we can get a cold snap the ice will thicken and up the coyote traps will be sitting good as well

You should wear rubber boots when setting your yote or fox sets. Also lure and Fox pee helps. Good luck kid. Nice video. That many trips for that number of days might mean it's played out.

For the coyotes make a pipe dream set and put rocks around it and guide him tords the tap they won’t step on rocks

One time I caught a skunk in a pipe and I shot it with a 22 and 1 week later i went to get my traps and the fucking thing was still alive and i shot it 2 in the head

Typically no. That day yes.

use a 22 short or cb cap and shoot them in the lungs they wont spray near as much. if you shoot them in the head they will spray almost every time.

look up skunk sleeper on minnesota trap supply. thatll help you out. im newer to trapping and i thought the dps would be the way to go. i get more on trail sets with 160 conibears with stands.
