I have used T-Rex quite a few times with a high success rate. It looks to me like the bait cup is overloaded, causing resistance on the trigger. You can see some excess bait coming out of the cup and some stuck to the bottom of the trigger. When trapping I would pack the cup tight with peanut butter and snake a light trail of it up to the trap. T-Rex also makes smaller mouse sized traps that work great on smaller targets too. The biggest reason I’ve always leaned towards T-Rex is the ease of setup coupled with the fact that they do not randomly seem to spring themselves like Victor or Catchmaster do. That being said, every job is different and a multiple method/equipment approach is your best bet.

This here. You can also use large deep dish glue boards for rodents as well and professionally I’ve noticed with adolescents this size or mice they work very well. Always use snap traps for larger rats as they typically pull themselves off of glue traps. But that trap is also too big for that size of rat. That’s probably also why it didn’t go off. Always size traps accordingly. You can potentially use the mouse t-Rex traps for these guys and I just caught one around this size with one the other day. Happy pest controlling!

T Rex traps are only good if you’re in a crawl or attic and need to set something up you can’t really get to, within arms reach. You just set it and place it. Much less sensitive than the Victor M326 traps, which are literally the most effective traps on the market today. Actually humane, and effective when placed correctly against a wall to smash the rodent against said wall, or in a corner where rodents tend to naturally rest. I don’t use glue boards unless they are for insects, they are horrible.

It could also be how you set it. If that (i assume) peanut butter is too thick it can actually act as a counter pressure. The t-rex traps have a removeable bait puck that twists in from the underside. Make sure that you only put bait in there and clear off the edges as that will force them to spend more time on the trigger plate to get at the bait. Rats also learn so they could be either a) trap shy, or b) bait shy. This one intentially went around back of the trap, indicating that they are aware of the danger this object poses. My grandparents had rats and mice infesting their old house cuz it was on 4 acres of open field that wasn't being used for anything. During the winter it was the absolute worst, you could walk in the restroom cuz their favorite nesting spot was under the big tub and some days the smell was so bad you couldn't even use that bathroom. My grandpa got some traps one time so we could start killing them off more reliably cuz the poison outside was no longer working effectively, I can't remember what brand they were but if you breathed on one too hard while setting it it would go off. I caught my finger in those things so regularly that after about a month it just stopped hurting and my left index finger is permanently curved from those traps.. those traps introduced me to my first non-hospital visit broken bone lol grandma was a nurse so the first break she just put it in a splint, 2nd break I just kept using my hand like normal. It's why my hands are all jacked up now cuz since then every broken knuckle or finger I've ever gotten I just leave as is and let it heal how it wants. Nothing they can do about it in a hospital besides give you ibuprofen 😂

I had to go pull Is traps from another techs job. The customer had a ceiling crawl space with just the plank without pull down stairs. I assumed all I would need was my five foot ladder and I could pull myself up the rest of the way. What I didn't know was that? That technician had sent the traps all around the Access panel and I got both of my hands clapped. Those T. Rex bad boys hurt.

One thing I've learned the hard way is, that using poison is the wrong answer. I moved into a house long ago that had been vacant for months and the rats moved in. My roommate got a bunch of poison traps and we set them up. They worked great, except the rats all died under the house and in the attic. Even in or near the AC vents. The house smelled like death for months after. It was awful. I was even embarrassed to bring people over. Never again.
