The Beauty of a trap like this, you can use your own mice/rats over and over to make it appear to trap wild rodents. These have been trapped over and over again but viewers love it, so it works as an excellent TRAP indeed. Brilliant on your part for sure.

Exactly, this guy has turned this into a camodity which is based on youtube views. He has several accounts and has different versions of this trap all using the red bucket. The deception is more obvious in his other videos because the mouse line up to jump straight into the bucket where they know the food will be waiting for them.

This is like the best metaphor for human society. First it kind of seems like a good idea so a few risk something without knowing possible negative outcomes. Once there is one person doing it, more will follow as we tend to believe the one(s) already doing it must know what they’re doing. And the more people follow the less others will think twice, and jump in something just because everyone else is doing it. We watch this thinking they must be stupid. But we kinda work in a very similar way.

Fascinating and lots of witty remarks ! But has anyone else had success with this kind of trap?
I got a house mouse. He came in during a really bad rainy day in January. Climbed in through the window. I was sitting in bed with my laptop and I noticed something move really fast near the door. Once I'd looked over, it was gone. But I could tell - it was bigger than a spider, and that made no sense, because the way the lights are in the room there could be no shadow cast either. As I laid there, my brain just kept coming back with one single explanation : MOUSE. So I got up and walked over and looked behind the desk - sure enough, there he was. The mouse. I sighed, moved everything off the floor up high, so he had no place to run to. Then I emptied the desk. Then I MOVED the desk. NO MOUSE!? I looked around, confused .... but there he was, near the door. And as I watched, he simply ran UNDER the door jam. OUTSMARTED! BY A MOUSE! So I painstakingly put everything back, grumbling, complaining, and got back into bed. He arrived a few minutes later. Came to look at me, to make sure I wasn't chasing him anymore, then he moved into one of the drawers in the desk. Whatever. Too fast for me anyway. So I started to feed him. Biscuit a day, water from an egg cup I filled and left near the drawer. He's been here nine months now. Totally moved in. He wakes up at 2-3am, eats his biscuit or cheese, drinks, comes over to look at me .... then fucks off under the doorjam into the house for an hour. Probably looking for a mate. There are no other mice here. I left the door (front door) open for him for HOURS to persuade him to escape. He's NOT interested. Just comes back every night at 4-5am and goes back to sleep. Stupid mouse. No wife, no kids ..... all he does is the same routine every fucking day! My kids are entertained by it all, so I figured .... whatever. Live your life. I read they only live 18 months or so anyways. As I write this, he's sitting there in the corner on the carpet, chewing a block of cheese, starring at me. Idiot.

Genius in my book. I love the fact that the bucket itself was high enough so they could not even try to get back out - it's also great that there were not more of them or the top would have heaved enough for them to try to escape.

Mice can jump higher than you'd think. It's not the height of the bucket, it's the plastic. Even if they could make a grab at one of the flaps, it's too smooth for their claws to grip.

You don't need all this, an open bucket with some Irish spring soap will do the same job, and you don't need to give them ramps, they can climb the outside of the bucket, plus you don't need to destroy your bucket or buy any of those extra materials.

@@balanceskateboarding8807 I have caught many mice in a bucket, but you don't need to make a project out of it like this, just put soap in the bucket, they fall in and the sides of the bucket are too smooth for them to climb out, you don't even need a top to the bucket.
I'm assuming those aren't wild mice and were released into the room to demonstrate the trap. No way there's just a horde of mice free roaming that building.

In the 60’s I started work as an apprentice motor mechanic in what was an old mill and when we left at night we put a broom handle at an angle to a dustbin and put scraps of food in the empty bin. In the morning we saw at least 75-125 mice in the bottom of the bin. Now that’s a mouse trap and it didn’t touch the surface to the quality of mice in the building.

Thanks for that. It's good evidence that rodents are pack animals and that they feel secure staying with the pack. A lot of people correctly pointing out that these may well be tamed, pet rats, but fail to recognise that they display the same mass psychology as their wild cousins in wanting to stay close to each other, and wanting to get the food before everybody else
