You can tell how proud Ezzy is, when she works with you. She looks very calm and happy. There are not enough words for Belle beautiful and elegant.

She's so amazing! I've never seen a foal that calm and willing. It's like she came born with the way the way friesian foals are born with the floating stride. No running away from the pressure thinking she's trapped, no bucking, not wanting to go do something else. She's right there trying hard to stay close and do what you want as if it's her own idea. She realy deserved that meal after her bout of thinking.

I'm so vicariously proud of Ezzy! XD I love how after a long, hard minute at school, she goes right home to Belle for an afterschool snack.

A relative bought a horse . Brought her home, bonding and getting use to her. Then went out one morning and there was a brand new mule foal! Beautiful foal. ❤❤

So good to see. You are a free spirit but consistent. Belle and Esmeralda are thriving in your care. They know what to expect. I love the way you do the essentials: feet, fly spray, touching the body everywhere, halter breaking etc all without force but with sensible guidelines. That's a balance I believe in. I absolutely love watching this! I love how you're helping Ezzy develop the confidence to connect by letting her come to you. It makes me feel good that what you are doing is exactly what I did when the Quarter Horse mare someone gave me had a surprise foal. 😅 Living in the foothills of California at the time & having an early July foal meant he was born at the beginning of fire season. So I knew for safety reasons learning to lead was important. I honestly think the foals really enjoy being included in the whole routine of care & learning. They are a part of the herd too! I still have the very worn out Western Horseman magazine from 1972 that I used as my training guide. Ezzy & Belle are so magnificent. I love watching them.

Every time I see li’l Ezzy, my heart smiles. She is the smartest, sweetest & prettiest filly I have ever seen. I actually feel love for her. Mares are the best. 🎀♥️

I love watching you work with your Ezzie n pony. I watch Candice n Jordan Camille from Canada rescue wild orphaned babies. They love their lives, too. Candice does great photography.

I found Candice and Jordan's channel just before they found Ranger, then Sage and Shadow. I just love Jordan's gentle training and omgosh the pictures Candice has done. . The new babies are beautiful yet I'm longing for another rescue baby cuz we know there will be an orphan or more left abandoned. I'm so proud that they roam the massive lands and mountain ranges searching for foals in need

You make this all look so easy…but as someone who also had a surprise foal out of a mare I purchased (an NO experience with foals) this takes so much patience and timing. The most surprising thing for me was that foals are not born fearful of humans, especially if their mom has a good relationship with the person. I spent a lot of time brushing, touching legs, lifting feet for short periods etc. My colt is 1 next month and is doing so well. We adore him! ❤. Great video! Edited to add that my foal got his foot caught in the fence at 6 weeks old. The relationship we established with him made it possible for us to keep him calm while we cut the fence. He could have easily broken a leg. Some contact is absolutely essential.

I agree with you, that it's not good to not touch or interact with the foal. And I think you're so right about letting her come to you. It seems to be the best way with most domesticated animals. You want them to be socialized & and not fearful of humans!!!! It's so cute to see Essie come up & "cuddle" with you!!!!! Already well socialized!!!!

So nice to see a real professional with heart. I am 65 and have had horses most of my life. Since my health forced me to give up my horses I have missed them so much. But your videos have brought me so much joy. Kudos to you and your partner, from what I see you both are so good at what you do.

At least you let Belle keep her girlie forlock. Poor thing does look like something is missing.😢 Essy is coming along a treat. So relaxed and willing to play training games. Very sensible to play farriers and vetinerys etc well in advance of their visits to save stress all round.

Belle and her foal are looking great. The foal seems to like the training 🐎🥕🥕🍎

You are by far the BEST horse handler. You have so much compassion for these horses, and you can see that in the way that they act with you. The way she trusts you with her foal, and the way the foal just knows you won’t hurt her and she can come to you. It’s just amazing. Congrats on being the best horse center EVER!!!

You are just SO incredible with these guys. Belle trusts you SO much to let you handle her foal; just so natural. I've seen so many first-time-halter experiences that have been horrible, but you are making it so organic and loving for them. This baby is going to be absolutely incredible under your care! I've seen and had many many foals but Ezzy is truly a standout star! Her coloring and spunky spirit are captivating-I love the way she flags up her tail when she runs. Wonderful attitude. And she has a lovely mother-so glad they ended up at such a great place.

Belle looks beautiful even with her haircut! And Ezzy already looks three times as big as she was three weeks ago, that is insane! She is going to be just as lovely as her mom.

Wow,,, Esmerelda truely is an impressive, beautiful and intelligent little girl. She inherited her mama's sweet nature and laid back demeanor, but I'm sure Shae much of Ezzy's willingness and trust has a lot to do with the safe and loving energy you exude in abundance too. ❤ Also, Belle still looks absolutely gorgeous with her mane roached, but if you find the mohawk stage is too square or hard looking in a few months, then you can use thinning shears to soften the last inch or so. Using thinning shears helps make a harsh square edge (the ends) look softer, be more manageable as her mane grows, and it does this without affecting the appearance of the overall length. ❤

Essie will make the most awesome liberty horse when she older. Bell has shown her trust and respect, a rare ballance that is essential for Liberty Xxxx

She's absolutely gorgeous, gonna be a big horse, can't wait to see what her breeding is.

A roached mane looks rather elegant. Belle is shaking her head some; maybe shes wondering, "What happened to my mane?" Ha ha. Ezzies mane looks like a mohawk, and it's so cute. She has filled out beautifully.

The bond between all 3 of you is incredible considering you only got Belle a few short months ago and little Ezzy is 3 weeks old. She is a sweetheart, inquisitive, trusting, smart and full of joy ❤ Your kind approach and love shows by how much the horses/ ponies trust you and Belle is at ease with you doing this essential training with her baby. Belle looks gorgeous either way and you did what you had to do to protect her mane. I love these 2 girlies and such a lovely pair.

Ezzy is the most unusual foal I have ever seen, and Shae, you are inspirational in your work...patient, calm, respectful, letting Ezzy come to you.From Australia, these videos are helping me as I watch my own Ezzy battling cancer, providing me with a little break from the sadness and grief consuming me. My Ez, my daughter, was a stunning chestnut...lol..with big brown eyes before pain and lack of pain relief robbed her of her beauty.But your little Ezzy lifts my spirits, thank you.

There's a way to measure a foal's cannon bone (I think), and the length in inches approximates the adult height in hands.

@@lesliemoiseauthor Yes. Foals are born with the cannon bone, between the hock (knee) and the fetlock (ankle) at almost adult length. That is why you see foals spread their forelegs wide apart to graze. "The cannon bone is the most mature bone in terms of length at birth in the horse. At six months of age, the horse is 93 percent of its mature length from the knee to the ground, and this distance represents approximately 25 percent of the horse's mature size."

What a happy and peaceful family Kyle, Shae, Belle and Ezzy. You have some sort of Disney Magic Kingdom magic going on at the farm with these two beautiful horses.❤

I think Belle knows how much you love and trust Jiminy so she loves and trusts Jiminy.

The moment Jiminy and Ezzy met is the moment Jiminy said to Ezzy “You are Shae’s next ❤ horse”.

No worries about Belle's mane, it will grow back thicker and stronger. Belle and Ezzy both look beautiful 🐴. I believe the way you are doing it, is just perfect. You know what's right for you and them. A little training this young is imperative. She must learn all these things for safety reasons. And it's much easier when they're this young (small).
