Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey KZread channel!
My name is Rokas. I'm a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.
Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.
After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my KZread channel called "Martial Arts Journey".
Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

Ever the saw the movie of jackie called painted faces 1988? Next video try standing in hand stand for two hours, making kick up for 300 times or one arm summersault two hundred times, then we gonna go if jackie did this stuff real or not. I doubt you find a peking opera teacher in europe but maybe try lion dance this should bring you on your limits for sure too. Maybe think of making negative chin up bars, that is like i started too.

Nice try slowin it down... im to this day shocked, how crazy fit Jackie was! drunken master + snake in eagles shadow is totally INSANE!
I've noticed that people never recognise how truly fit Jackie was. He'll never be matched when it comes to being the definition of Jack of all trades. Great vid 🙂👍

He's always been a "Jackie" of all trades... 😋
I just wanted to clarify something. That wasn't a giant pointy stick when he was doing the horse stance. That was a large sized incense stick. The kind they use in temples. He's supposed to hold the stance until the stick burned all the way down and not slack off by sinking to a squat or his butt would be burned by the tip. 😂

On the point of horse stance, iron leg and iron body qi gong are incredibly difficult and require you to hold stances for over an hour for basic training. I used to practice the ⁸ brocade and the warm-up for that was 15 minutes of low stances, including 5 exclusively in horse, stance in that position. One minute isn't very impressive for those who havetried the harder stuff. And my personal best was thirty minutes in full horse stance
On the upside down sit ups, Jackie touches his head to his knees, the full range of motion is surely harder than a 4? :D Great video by the way!

#7 Jackie is parallel to the floor while your thighs and abs are at a…120 degree angle…not 180 😁. Love the content 👍. Try facing the wall w handstand pushups. I think it would more closely mimic what Jackie does. Extended arm pushups? 😊 pushups on wrists are impressive.

rokas underestimates jackie chans martial arts training, besides his opera training he has a strong foundation in hung gar, so he has to be able to at least stand in horse stance for 30 minutes to up an hour. Yes standing is used in prisons for torturing, but the kung fu version is for training proper breathing and to toughen the muscles cause beeing forced to tense their muscles in a static position for an elongated time make their muscles incredibly hard and thus hung gar guys tend to be very tough to hurt. Theoretically you could get similiar results with a high repetition, i once did experiments on myself with doing deadlifts with fourty kg in high repetition cause of some fitness room war stories of a guy everyone held for crazy at his gym. And well my back got hard as iron, but in my opinion the muscle layer kept still beeing too small for an effective protection like say a base ball batt at the lower back.
A few notes: I wouldn't call the sit up or the lalane pushups completed, koodos for trying though. And Jackie Chan definitely did the pushups, that's why they zoomed out, to play with audience expectations (for what my degree in film studies is worth) . And he certainly really lifted the person by himself, Jackie Chan was a calisthenics beast in his prime.
I’m pretty sure he did free standing handstand push-ups in the training sequence from Rumble in the Bronx. I think they actually show him falling while attempting them during the closing credits.

He did, and he was not as young as in the video shown here...
It shows how great and in advance Jackie Chan was, on so many aspects.
Jackie Chan's level of fitness was beyond! His training montages are extremely inspirational! You are super fit too!
Sensei Benny “The Jet” Urquidez was not only Jackie’s opponent in the Meals on Wheels Fight Scene, he is a HomeTown Hero who is a Legend in International Kickboxing. His style Ukidokan is a great striking art.
Bowl you're using seems too light & plastic. The ones used in JC movies are very traditional/classic porcelain bowl, they are slightly heavier & easier to maintain stability when do the snake fist dance. The pointy stick is joss stick. 😂 The real pain from it is the burning contact. Do Bruce Lee training next!!! Looking forward the EMP shock & table lifting from you.
this is so cool! more people need to try this out! i remember watching him training when I was little, thinking he was superhuman!

He definitely is a superhuman still!
Jackie Chan does handstand push-ups without help. He’s done it in an exhibition. The movie rumble in the Bronx shows him also doing it.
Full props for giving all these a shot . Some are not that crazy, but there are a good few that are absolutely mental 😂
Those wrist pushups scared me when I did them a few times. I always thought I was close to breaking something if I messed up.
Jackie is amazing but you're pretty darn good yourself. Great job!

I wonder how crazy were Jacky's workouts when he was a child in the Pekín Opera. Great video
Love your videos, your openness to experimentation and testing to see what works. #9 is “tea cup” qigong. Lots of variations to this and I’ve found it incredibly helpful for shoulder mobility and recovery. There’s a dao yin dragon form that has some similarity and a walk that also goes lower down the body.
You did great Rokas. I like to do calisthenics and I know the difficulty of those exercises. And I think it's really good for martial arts. It helps me a lot. Anyway great video 😊 Jackie is one of my favorite athletes 💪

Great video. Wheels on Meals is one of my all time favourite movies, the movie is great from the beginning training scene and jumping out of the house to the ending fight scene
Nice video, good production, well thought out, wholesome. As another fan of the legend of Chan, I have watched all his films, including the obscure, crap ones. I am a hardened fan, not the no 1 fan because liking something isn't a competition, so it is nice for me to see appreciation going somewhere it should. I am glad you didn't try to replicate the falling from the clock tower exercise, it can be hard on the neck🐻

Great effort! Some of those are just a little harder. Its hot boiling water in those bowls and cups. And that's not a pointy stick, its burning incense. so you have the heat but it also gets shorter as it burns down.
Jackie was truly one heck of an athlete.
Very cool to see clips from Gorgeous. That movie is very under appreciated.
Great job! You did awesome! When I was a kid I trained shaolin kung-fu with a shaolin monk and walked into class early and watched him do 10 handstand push ups on his thumbs but was counting from 80-90 when inwalked in I was so amazed I literally just walked out to wait for class to start, but will remember that for the rest of my life was insane.

I saw #9, 10, and 19 as exercises in Systema training
5min horse stance was a daily warm-up at my kung fu school, looks like more fun with the cups (maybe not the stick)
Rokas the n2 exercise the one leg pushups i think the challenge is being balanced with your core in the middle, if you rewatch jackie video, he has perfect form, meanwhile your torso is twisted to the right. But its probably not very hard anyway.
22 is actually the number of the master builder.

That dish thing is real. It is also a 'teacup' for shaolin. As far as striking out to keep water in the cup. Try and tiger palm a tennis ball over and over. without knocking it back and without letting it drop.
That montages was watched daily by me in 2009

I did that after I saw his movies drunken fist when I was a kid. Haha
Push up while hand stand is a thing when I was full training in Judo. I dont dare do it again since myopia.
If a person visits a fitness club 3 times a week for 2 hours, then he, consider, does not know how to do anything. Mastery is gained in specialized schools, where they conduct 2-3 workouts for 5-6 hours daily.
Should ask your wife tickle you while you're doing horse stance just like Jackie Chan in his Drunken Master film. Its a part from the training lol.. Btw love your video
