Train Wreck Camping
A historic train wreck from the 1950's outside of Whistler B.C. was this week's target for some camping. Not sure if I needed to be stealthy or not, but it never hurts to keep a low profile. Set up camp in a boxcar and had an enjoyable camping adventure!

Steve your friends and fans are so devoted to you you can make a video of you roasting marshmallows and making s’mores and you’d have thousands upon thousands of views. but I know you will always deliver quality. I was doing fine until you said good night to Jess. That was like a punch in the gut, because even though I don’t know you personally, I feel as though I lost a friend, And I and thousands of others like me hate to see you in pain that doesn’t mean you hide your pain we don’t want that let it out and he’ll but we just want you to know that we’re out here and we care. now back to the video - you handled the situation quite well and those people were very nice, (hey Canada) what can you say but my knee-jerk reaction is 8 billion people in the world are they all going to come marching through here tonight? I swear to God getting away from your fellow man, it’s getting harder and harder, and sometimes you just wanna do it for a few hours. but overall a great video. a great idea. you’re going to have to look for more “abandoned things“ for your camping out videos. you know Steve I am going to say one thing, maybe you can’t really cook very well I don’t know that about you. but there’s another guy I watch occasionally and during the winter he’ll pack along a steak and other goodness, then cook it up fresh. he’s got a video on how to make “dehydrated spaghetti“ it’s completely dry when he’s done and in Ziploc bags, And he He is boiling water and it’s amazing because when it’s dehydrated the sauce actually goes into the spaghetti and when it gets hit with the boiling water actually pours it into the boiling water and stirs it boom it becomes full-fledged “saucy” spaghetti just incredible and apparently the stuff can keep for up to a year. I would love to see you and him and of course his dog “Monty” go on a camping trip together that would be one hell of a crossover and I think both men would have their viewerships go absolutely berserk.
“I don’t know if it was that exciting” I stayed through the entire 30 minutes totally enjoying your company Steve! Great vid!

The late great Jim Stobie (kzread.info/dash/bejne/qIqMwaVsetKalLg.html), excellent pianist, train hopper, and artist who died way too young at age 33 in 2017 near Baltimore, MD. The piano music in Jim's videos is all Jim. Yes R.I.P Stobe.

Welcome to camping, conversation, and courtesy with Steve! The sort of thing that makes these videos great to watch no matter the rate they come out at. You truly are one of those greats, and we're here with you and behind you no matter what.
The look 👀 😮 on your face Steve when you got too the bridge, PRICELESS 😂😅😂❤❤❤
Steve, I watched only about half a dozen videos of yours. But you're already like an old friend! Keep the videos coming, you're a solid guy and the world needs more Steve Wallis'!

My three biggest fears. Water, bridges and height. You conquered it Steve!
Yeah, RIP Stobe...I was a big fan of his videos, too. Thanks for the great content, Steve!
Such a wholesome great video thank you so much for bringing us along!!🤍
There's annoyingly little info I could find online about this train wreck, only that in 1956 a cargo train derailed and that's about it. You're a brave man, Steve. I wouldn't dare be out there at night. Then again, as a wheelchair user I rarely get to leave my flat, so I live vicariously through your amazing adventures. Stay awesome, stay strong, and stay amazing. Much love from Slovenia!

PGE (Pacific Great Eastern Railway) was bought by the British Columbia Gov't somewhere around 1970, and renamed the British Columbia Railway. Plagued by labor strikes, track building that led to no-where, and other mis-management, it became the butt of endless jokes and hilarious cartoons in the Vancouver newspaper, which featured stylized "keystone cops" parodies of the trains and crews running over mountain-tops to the silly quips of the politicians of the day. It was acquired by the coast-to-coast Canadian National Railways a few years ago, which only uses the tracks occasionally now.

Fun fact, the reason the trains are so far from the tracks and none of the trees are damaged and broken from the wreck is because when the derailment happened it was the only route in and out of Whistler (i believe it was called Alta, or something else back then) which was just a small logging village at the time. To be able to get supplies back into Whistler for the people that lived there, a logger used his equipment to drag the railcars away from the rail so the damage could be repaired and the railway used once again. The railcars sat, sort of forgotten about until the mid 80's, and people were very confused about how no trees were damaged, it seemed kind of eerie at the time. Eventually the family of the logger that dragged the cars out of there caught wind of them and informed the locals, and it became somewhat of a tourist attraction. Imagine coming across those bent and destroyed railcars so far from the tracks and having no idea what happened! A very easy and quick hike to do with the new bridge steve-o just crossed. You used to have to tresspass along the rail line to get there.
Probably one of the more enjoyable (for me) camps you have done. Very interesting and a place I might never have seen so ty Steve. Peace brother.
You're such a humble guy, Steve. I hope things are getting a little better for you! Keep your head up
Take care Steve! We love you ❤
