In China, being detained is not going to jail. It is punishment for less severe crimes that do little harm to society. The law system will not record it. It force people to take time to think it through what they have done, and punish them for wasting public resources

Its not jail, typically you will be held under supervision for upto 14 days (maximum, its usually much lesser it depends on case). Also there wont be any criminal record. Its typically used on cases such as roadrage or some small disputes among neighbours etc. Its like mandatory cooloff time

@@jkdfjufseytjreyj4003 In a prision that is going to jail,in police station is not. And being detained is not performed in police stattion,it‘s in detention center, normarlly no more than 15 days. Different countries have different law systems, maybe in your country people being detained is going to jail, but in China it's not. It's common messure for a large population like China to cut law inforcement cost, and it's wiser to seperate police station and punishiment facillites, police can focus more on investigation on cases.

When someone stands on railtracks and acting like a fool there - it's one type of situation, when eprson should be arrested. Because Japan and Korea has high rates of suicide... Unlike China they have healthy mind

Jumping into oncoming train from a crowded platform is an act that will create mayhem and will harm and traumatize a lot of people such as the driver and the bystanders. He is being detained for that. Being suicidal does not grant him the right to harm people. Besides, cuddling does not always fix suicidal people. He is also not suicidal from chronic depression but rather from extreme exasperation.
