Æthelstan is considered the greatest monarch, over Elizabeth I AND Victoria, which is surprising. Probably one of my Welsh ancestors, and probably considered so important because historians believe him to be the first monarch. I always love the exciting things I learn from your videos!

First time viewer and really enjoyed the content and setup of the video podcast. I always enjoy Tracy Borman and the way she presents history is so relaxed but provocative. So again, bravo. And for the contest the answer is….Athelstan? Hmmm I want a recount!

Welcome! I’m so glad you found me and my interview with Tracy. Check out my one with Lesley Smith too as I think you’ll enjoy that one. (It’s just audio). Haha, I know. I’m interested to know their reasoning but I imagine it must be around uniting England.

Dr. Borman what do you think about 'The Favorite'? The last Stuart monarch i.e. Queen Anne had short yet tumultuous journey on the throne apart from her personal tragedy. The movie is a bit unwatchable for all it's graphical hopefully fictional details, do you think the storyline is accurate ?

Athelstan beat Elizabeth to this particular title - though I'm not sure why, I'd like to hear the panel's reasons for that decision. Personally, I can't see how Elizabeth I wouldn't winner that race.
