What a wonderful discussion!! At 34:23, Suzannah says that "adultery by a queen is not a capital offense": Anne was not executed for adultery, but for mentioning the king's death. I'm curious, then, what the legal rational for Catherine Howard's execution was. I know there was a Bill of Attainder, but if adultery wasn't treason for a queen, why was Culpeper executed?
I'm writing a paper on the agency for power regarding Anne Boleyn and Lady Margaret Beaufort. Loved listening to this to flesh out my understanding of Anne. Thank you!
Thank you for insightful and intelligent Q & A - was truly engaging. Looking forward to the book - nuances of real documents brings extra light to so many moments that was painted in black and white before.
Delightful. I always enjoy Dr. L. Thank you!
What will this new book be called please? I Will definitely be buying it as soon as its released ?
What makes the 2 of you dislike Jane Seymour? She seemed to be a peacemaker who brought 8th's daughters back into the line of succession and treated then kindly. While Anne was so cruel to Mary.
