Remember that episode where he and Raksha has clearly been out drinking with all the students the night before and he could barely speak? Hahahaha Loved that one!

I'm so glad that they talked about Ian, and mentioned how important the digger operators were. They were defintiely the unsung heroes of the digs.

As far as I know only Mick has passed but you are absolutely right. The "new" Time Team just isn't the same. I watched the "reboot" and really wasn't all that impressed. It just wasn't the same. The original crew just 'made' the show what it was and Tony was a big reason for that. So was Phil. On a side note; With all the holes the Time Team has dug on the British Isles and elsewhere, I'm surprised it hasn't sunk into the Atlantic like the fabled Atlantis! HA!

I'm American and i can tell you this is my favorite series about history ever in my 40 years. The people are just amazing!

He was always the "volunteer" and we got to watch him grow up from a great youngster to be a great man.. One of my Favorite fellows on the old time team.. Thanks Matt for all of the great hours of enjoyment and humor you have given me over the years...

I am very pleased they mentioned Ian Barclay with such fondness and respect. He seemed to me a very capable man and I'm glad to see and hear the confirmed.

Matt is the real thing. Incredibly good natured and always fun to watch. We still replay that breathtaking moment on the island of Mull when he found the skull of the local saint right under where the altar would be. Great to see him back in again!

I want to be a Digger Driver when I grow up. I'm only 65 now.

Time Team opened up a door into Archeology for everyone, making it understandable and enjoyable for every viewer. Great to see that Matt will be back! I'm hoping to see Raksha Dave and the other Time Team experts too. Will Tony be joining the new team? I hope so. Even if they are only consultants I really think their input will be priceless. I miss Mick and am sad that Phil won't be joining the new Time Team cast of characters... maybe a guest visit or three? The synergy of the Time Team group really made the program more enjoyable and I really learned a lot. I enjoyed the competitive interactions and the fun and games... poking at each other then having a pint at the end of the day. What a fantastic series of shows. thank you! I hope you can pull it together again.

You are absolutely right! Time Team made the 'mundane' job of archeology cool and interesting and sometimes exciting to those who really don't know about such things. They were never meant to be the "Indiana Jones" type of tomb raiders, just archeologists, specialists and historians who came together to tell the REAL story about human history. I love how they involved not only the local townspeople but the children, as well! I really think they defined the word "edutainment" and took it to a whole other level! Such a wonderful series.This world could do with many more of these types of shows.

Absolutely thrilled to have Matt back. However shall they torture him this time around?

I always loved how great a sport Matt was when being chosen to reenact different characters👏🏻

It was great to see him grow in stature and in his craft right before our eyes...and here he is all grown up nicely...looking forward to his input in the future digs.

WHAT?!? Those were some of the best moments on the show! He really did get the worst of it most of the time, didn't he?

That was brilliant! Great to hear what Matt has been up to! Loved the Matt & Phil interactions. I especially remember Phil & Matt as Roman orators & the WW2 home guard exercises as being favourites! Best wishes from a 🇨🇦 fan.

MATT! What a sweetheart! It was a treat watching him grow from a boy to a married man; can hardly wait to see him in action once again... am really looking forward to it!

Just wonderful seeing Matt again, hearing what he's up to now. He nailed it I think, in saying Time Team gives archaeologist opportunities they would otherwise seldom have. It may have been a little fast and chaotic at times, but the variations in sites provided such diversity and opportunities for the Team's regulars that they otherwise may never have had. Really looking forward to Matt's involvement in the future.

What a treat to see Matt! Just thinking about the years of experience all the Time Team members will be bringing to the new adventure is mind blowing!

Matt Williams was always the test person. Had to do the re-enactments. He was great. Love watching Mr. Williams. Can't wait to see him on the re-digged show.

Always appreciated Matt’s input! He still looks younger than he is, and most don’t realize he had earned his archeology degree solidly in the 90s (Not on the cusp of the 2000s).

You obversely didn't watch the interview did you, because you know he will be joining the new team. As for Phil he is too old now to dig for goodness’ sake. It's been a long time since the program was on TV.

If Matt doesn't recall every dig, that he was ever on, then I shouldn't feel too bad if I don't remember all of those old Time Team episodes that I watched on KZread!

Fantastic to see Matt and so glad he's on board for the new show. Hope Tim can do an interview with Paul Blinkhorn, the pottery expert, who was on the programme around the same time as Matt.

This is fun. Matt seemed like a youngster amongst all the older archeologists. He now has the experience and gravitas of Mick.

It is such a surprise to see a grown-up Matt. It makes me realise how much time has passed since Time Team.

Matt is one of my most favorites in Time Team. His segments and the things he did for the show is so memorable. His partnership with Phil is so entertaining. My favorite line from Matt in episodes that I watched so far: "I'm pretty close to swearing, that's true." >.

I'm glad Matt talked about the step of in-situ plotting and photography of any items found! That was one thing I always wished they showed on the show, in addition to all the rest - it's so essential to the real learnings from any archaeological work.
