I like how you did the suspention. By changing the mounting locations on the shocks you will change the leverage on them to make them stronger or weaker.

I am going to have to add a shock to the other side of the shocks I have now. The shocks I have are a little weak for the weight. but I think it will also make the arms stronger so not a bad thing.

Plus the second shock will help hold the suspention strait up and down when compressing. With one on one side it wants to kick outward when compressing. Although you compensated for this in the build it will cause premature ware on the metal parts. Plus it will look badass.

I think the shocks are fine. Might need to move the rear swing arm back abit so when you sit on it will be even.

The shocks also have adjustments to make them tighter. I don't think I can move the swing arm back any more because of how close the drive wheels will be. Right now I am having problems getting the parts to mount the drive wheels. Thanks for the comment.

You are going with a Christie suspension? Did you consider Hortman type and why did you not go with that? Good work!

I see what you are trying to do, but your suspension may be prone to failure, no offense as my intent is to play Devil's Advocate and not to demean your project. I play World of Tanks and War Thunder Ground forces plus I am 52 years old and have been into Tanks for a very long time, several decades. As I mentioned I see what you are attempting to do, work within your budget and make something that will get you where you want to go. Your pivot points will twist and fail as you attempt to make turns and go over obstacles. Again my intent is constructive criticism and not deter you from your project. I want this thing to work for you and if you do a google search for Track Suspension you will see none will ever look like yours. The pivot arm for each road wheel might work but that would mean double of everything, shocks included and rather than a pivot upside down "T" each road wheel is itself will be at the end of the arm. You can still use the double Screw Idea, that seemed to be a Genius solution, at the bottom of each arm to replace the T. You may even get away with removing the bottom T and put the Road Wheels there and simply add one more on the end and in the middle and keeping them close together. Just depends on clearance. You may also need to use double shocks on each arm to obtain the control you want. You may be able to Double up the Shocks on a Single Bolt to allow for a second Shock without the need for a Second Hole, maybe. Keep in mind the only thing keeping those arms from twisting is the Shock and U Joint at the top so you may want to consider using a double plate or double thickness stock for the U Joints. I don't know what you plan to use for steering but you may want to use a design using cables attached to a breaking system for the drive Wheels. Simply put if you want to turn RIGHT you simply BRAKE the RIGHT DRIVE WHEEL. Like a Mini Bike that uses a Slip Clutch to drive it, you will need a Slip Clutch for each side. Simply have the Handle Bars with Cables to manipulate the Slip Clutch. The more you turn RIGHT the HARDER the BRAKE IS APPLIED. The unit seems wide enough but your length might be an issue with regards to stability. Jeeps are prone to flipping over because they are short and things like that. You may want to consider extending the Front Return Wheels to add some Length and possible room for maybe a 5th Road Wheel Setup, the length can only aid in stability and the more road wheel arms the less likely they are to twist. 1 or 2 arms will twist easily but 4 or 5 would take a lot more umph to twist metal. I hope you consider my suggestions as I intend, constructive criticism, and nothing more because I look forward to seeing this vehicle come alive.

Thanks for the advice. Stay tuned, as I build this I am sure I will have to make changes to get it to work. That's part of the fun!

Aceman307 Yes it is, and thanks for taking my comment as I intended it. So many others just fly off the handle when you try to give them advice and I am glad you didn't. My health is against me but my mind is very active so I would enjoy helping with ideas as I really do think outside the box about most things... I look forward to your progress...

Yes , I also felt that one sided mounting of the shocks is not a good idea, You should add another bar on the inner side as well and then put the shock in between. This single bar mounting will not be able to take the fatigue and may lead to disaster. by the way, What are your cost and time estimates for having a finished product?
