Toyota Tacoma | Overland Equipped Auxiliary Power Kit Install | (2017 Tacoma)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

For todays video I am installing an Overland Equipped Aux Power kit for the 3rd gen Tacoma. The full kit comes with the OE Aluminum bracket, mounting hardware, Blue Sea Sysytems 12 Circuit ST Blade Block, a Blue Sea System 100 Amp 187 Series Panel Mount Thermal Circuit breaker, and pre terminated power and ground cables cut to length. The Full kit is well made and well put together. You really cant ask for much better than Blue Sea Systems. The install was straight forword and easy. Now I'm ready to start adding lights, while keeping the engine bay clean. Thanks for watching. Links below.

    I just did mine a week ago. I love their bracket. It makes it easier to purchase the entire electrical set up with them instead of getting it separate. Your going to pay the same amount but your helping out small businesses.

    Exactly what I wanted. This allows you to save a grip of $$ over the switch pro (that I can use on light bar and winch). I'm fine with OEM switches.

    I ordered the same kit a few weeks ago, but I have yet to install it. While ordering, I felt for the price it was a good deal. Although being an Electronic Technician, I am very leery about passing wires through a metal plate without protecting the wire. So to clean things up, I bought some boots for the relay connections, added some color coded sleeves to help protect the wires, and I also extended that short power cable going from the relay to the fuse block. And since I extended that cable, I flipped the fuse block where the positive is closer to the firewall and the ground is closer to the battery. Now I just need to give it a light sanding and paint it black with some high heat paint. What I did may be a little overkill, but I rather be safe than sorry. Regardless, it's a good video. I believe you are the 1st one I've seen on YT that bought the whole kit and did the install, as most people just buy the plate.

    That sounds amazing, well done. I had the same concern with the cables going through the bracket, however, it seems as though there will be no movement. So I felt better after the install. Thanks for watching.

    I had the same thoughts about the slots, they are extremely sharp edges so I filed them on all side and added extra heat shrink protection 🤙🏽

    Great 'How To' video. I will be adding this aux fuse box, I will also be adding an oil catch can. Do you have any suggestion as to where to put the oil catch can with the aux fuse box installed? I could relocate either, I'm just trying to figure out the best layout for both.

  • @ClassyTacos

    @ClassyTacos

    This specific Aux Panel is made to fit in this location. Depending on the which oil catch can you purchase, I have only seen them installed on the left side of the brake booster.(left side as you are looking at it from from where you open the hood) I do not see them interfering with each other. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and the kind words.

    Maaaan do I hate having crawl control. 4lo and the e locker has been enough to get me in and outta any trouble I get myself into. Wasted space and wasted tech. Would love to yank the whole system out. A sunglass holder in the overhead panel would do me so much better than a knob that just collects dust.

    Followed you for the usb install then the front facing camera and here I am again. Excellent as work as always!! I have a question for anybody that might know... I have ditch lights and the switch has an add a fuse. The only place I know to use on the fuse panel is where my fog lights already have an add a fuse. So Instead of the add a fuse could the wire from the switch be ran to the fuse block?

  • @ClassyTacos

    @ClassyTacos

    Thanks for watching. Lets start off by making sure of something, the ditch light fuse you speak of. Is it an add a fuse or an inline fuse? Can you link here the kit you bought so I can see it.

    With this distribution block, do you still have to add relays somewhere in line to the accessories? I see some of the more expensive units use electronic distribution, therefore eliminating the need for relays.

  • @ClassyTacos

    @ClassyTacos

    Short answer is yes, I would have to. So far all of the electrical add ons I have installed had their own relay pre installed in the wire loom from the manufacture. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the video super helpful I gotta clean up my wiring!! Quick question if you had an accessory with an inline fuse directly to the battery and after you do the fuse box install and connect that accessory to the box instead can you leave the original inline fuse on the wire that is now connected to the fuse box (with another new fuse)?

  • @ClassyTacos

    @ClassyTacos

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would say yes. You will end up with 2 fuses for protection. One in the box, one in line. Make sure they at least match amperage on the fuse. My LED light bar is set that way. Thanks for watching.
