perfect deal is ford ,engine, looks, feel, drive , comfort,design, better dynamics for some guys......and for another random guys perfect deal means reliability,after sale service,re sale value spare parts and service centers...

I bought My Endevour on May 2016. Its a superb SUV to drive!! Really every dollar worth!!

Well extremely wealthy people buy things just they like, not so wealthy people take the resale value + maintenance cost and durability into account. I liked endeavor better than fortuner but ended up buying fortuner.

I agree endeavour is better. Better terrain management, sun roof, better ground clearance, good music system, Android auto etc. make it overall a great package. Noise cancelling tech and good steering are added bonus

Fortuner can never be beaten this segment

I like the way you present both cars in equal ways, clearly NO biased... In real life situation, these SUV's are going to be used mostly on the road rather than offroad. Ford Endeavor 3.2L buyers are clearly the winner here especially with the 2.2L engine. It's more responsive engine to drive and more fuel efficient and cheaper price tag. More power to you Ma'am Renuka and to your Autocar program.

Road presence of the new endeavor is best among two. But I saw a white chevy trailblazer which stepped up road presence to whole new level, even though interior is not that great.

But reliability and cost of ownership

Ford endeavor all the way ... recently drove this beast and trust me it felt like a hatchback in terms of parking, manuvering was easy (in Bangalore's traffic.) loved it .

A good and fair Comparison!

Yeah - You see many guys would sit at the back (most times) and let the chauffeur get the wheel, in which case I think the Kodiaq is better due to a more supple suspension, in the Endy and the fortuner you would get tossed around a lot. The counter is the kodiaq is not a offroader but trust me I have been in this game you are not going to do serious off roading in your 40 lakh car and for trails(which most people call off road) the kodiaq will be just fine, its only when you have a technical off road that it would shy away. The Endy is great but just look at the fuel economy number on that 3.2 liter powerplant its abysmal. Also 0-100 the kodiaq is the quickest. Though I would have preferred if they had got the engine tuned to produce 175 bhp (option available in europe) for this price point. If you want legendary reliability and good at everything and great at nothing the toyota is the king, the lowest cost of ownership. I didn't make it any easier did I?

Mam just a little correction to get into the endeavour's last row one doesn't need to flatten the middle row, instead on can pull the lever on the top corners of the seats of the middle row near the doors to push the middle row seats forward for a easy way behind.

Chinmay Botekar No endeavour with 4_5 people and few luggage just glides on high speed (120-140). extremely comfortable and good steering

had the previous gen Fortuner, this new gen is a very good upgrade but Yup the New Endeavour is surely the best overall SUV one can buy. In other countries Ford Everest sells in alot higher number than Fortuner. I'm planning soon for my own Endeavour 2.2 4x4 AT Red.

Dear autocar You guys did a great job, but missed some crucial points, true the Endeavor has a longer wheelbase and lower departure angle but the Endeavor gets a proper front and back mechanical slip differential , now thats proper hardware unlike Toyotas brake based torque vectoring diff which is software controlled rather than good old oily mechanical feel some bits, These 2 will tackle 99% of whatever we can throw at it with better tires than what the brand offers in stock form, but Endeavors true locking diff is a boon and is more hardware for the money 1 pays

We've had our experience with Ford and they aren't reliable vehicles. Fortuner is time tested and ye can't beat Toyota's build and service in India. Toyota beyond any doubt is more reliable than any brand out there. I wish Indians could get fully equipped Fortuner and Prado. Prado being a victor in every segment with endless life. I only wonder how Endeavour would do after five years of constant off-roading and remember people, Toyota's are known for never breaking.

But still majority of people in India would still opt to buy fortuner just because of its mesmerising looks! ❤

bharti gosavi why buy a car for resale? buy a car for its worth and drive. Take a drive of both the cars. the difference is huge between Endeavour and fortuner. if you buy the fortuner for resale value, then you'll miss the drive of the endy for 10 years until you sell it.

No. Reliability of fortuner is unmatched. With high resale value, less difference in price in comparison to endeavor, premium interior, great off roading capabilitiy makes it my pick as well as others. That's the reason why I have been seeing lot of new fortuner on the road withing a month. Although endeavour isn't a bad choice.

I have a black endeavour. it's a beast of a vehicle. have a discovery sport as well and it matches it at times. although I went to buy the fortuner just for the same reasons you mentioned. but after test driving both cars, it was just impossible to leave the endeavour. this Endeavour made Toyota prelaunch the new fortuner in India, since 6 months before the new fortuner, majority entry level luxury suvs were the new endeavour

Just bcoz d fortune's mileage is better and the hype of d brand name just like Salman khan, you see more ppl buying fortuner.. However, whn it comes to re-sale value, you just dnt buy a car to sell it.. Buy it to use it for a life time.. M waiting for Endevour's new launch just like d fortuner and M sure it comes with lot more feature which is missing comparitively.. Endevour is the best...

harsh panchal you see more no. Of fortuner on road because it is india and here people only see : Price, mileage, resale value, brand and other people

How hard would it be for Toyota to provide a good sound system with enough insulation like the Endeavor? I heard them both and believe me, the endy's 10 speaker system is miles better with a powerful amplifier, centre channel speaker and a dedicated subwoofer. The fortuner's 6 speaker feels like the one in the Hyundai verna sedan. Not justified for it's price.

Toyota is good with after sale service and customers will go with fortuner more as you all have seen last few years.

Endeavour finally overtakes Fortuner...it's better in looks overall with it's proportions as compared to Fortuner which in present avtar looks little out of proportion.

Most awaited review i mean comparo ! Endy is the way to go with ! if you want auto go with Endeavor if manual then Fortuner ! remember Toyota crysta is failing with loads of niggles and Toyota fortuner was recalled for auto transmission failure in Philippians .

just look at the endeavour stance and interior looks , totally luv it, will soon add at the end of next year.
