The “oh come on” literally made me break out in goosebumps and tears. The wait has been almost unbearable, worrying that Ed was gonna find out before everything being finished. I can honestly say that I haven’t been more hyped for a KZread video than the upcoming reveal! Thanks to everyone for providing hours of entertainment to us fans!

The situation the FJ driver got himself into is called "canyon locked". It happens to hikers also, sometimes with fatal results. Never descend into a canyon unless you are sure you can either go back up or continue descending to a point where escape is possible. A hiker can jump down eight feet over a ledge without too much difficulty but it may be that ascending up a sheer face only a few feet higher than a person can reach is impossible.

It's why you *should* go off-roading with another buddy vehicle... and everyone should have good winches. Looks like FJ was just bought (dealer paper in the plate frames) so it's probably stock. Which ordinarily isn't a bad thing; FJs are very capable "out of the box" - but even a crate with a few come-alongs and strapping can get you out of "little" jams a lot faster and cheaper than calling a recovery service.

Yes happened to a friend of mine in Hawaii. He jumped down to a boulder and then realized he couldn't get back up. Broke both of his legs getting out and had to crawl out for some distance.

From what I could tell, mild all terrains at least, don’t look like highway tyres, and I guess open diff causing issue, even though it looks evenly loaded on both sides - perhaps contact patch is too small for vehicle weight, bigger/wider tyres, well, also lower pressure would help too.

Yeahhh, I noticed that too. Makes you wonder a little bit. I mean, maybe this happened awhile back when they weren't filming and wanted to recreate it. But while my FJ isn't without some limitation, I have taken mine up muddy inclines slightly steeper than the incline they are on and it's gone up and over just fine. It's a little strange. Also kind of wonder if it's a 2 wheel drive instead of a 4 wheel drive.

@@bigredc222 When you know da way and believe with all your heart, you can do anything. Lol I saw it. However, I did go rewatch it and noticed they mentioned there was ice on the road. So, that means there might have been frost on the hill making for very slick conditions. I live in the south and the couple of times I went up those inclines, it was 110 degrees outside. Also, have my FJ lifted.

I love how your crew treats Ed with respect. When you were in Robby's parking lot, Ed was looking to Matt when he couldn't hear something, and Matt immediately passed along what was being said. Total respect for what you do and how you treat others.

Ed reminds me of my friend Mike. Mike retired at 45, got bored in his 50s and just kinda started hanging around a transmission shop, became friends with the owner, helped out here and there, like Ed does. After a few years he transmission shop had a fire and the owner shut it down and moved away, so Mike started hanging out at a tire shop, and it was the same thing, friends with the owner, practically family, helped out here and there, went to SEMA a couple times with them. Mike passed at 66 a few years ago, and the tire shop has closed, but if he were still around he would be somewhere with cars and good people to spend time with.

Shout out to BIG ED. Your a great man. Matt's a great guy for all the help he's given Ed too.

Man, was that guy lucky!! If he'd gotten just a little bit sideways he'd been in a WHOLE DIFFERENT situation!!! Nice job getting him out!!

Seeing Ed's reaction at the end is all that I need , see a full episode will be just like complementary. I just got the real feeling with that 3 seconds at the end of the vid' , I can explain how happy I'm for Ed and the entire gang ... what a group of authentic and good heart people .

I'm glad you all explained how the customer got down there. I thought it might have been one of those situations where a son borrows the family vehicle wants to show off to his friends, but then the vehicle wouldn't come back out - lol.

I tell you what, if all you came here for was the fantastic views of these mountains, you would never be disappointed. Such magnificent scenery out there.

Yes to all you said, yet I also appreciate the normal recoveries. Reason is that this is not a sensation channel (Hey, I bought a Blackhawk!), but rather lives from improvement, personal relations, collaborations and the team. Building a wrecker is supercool (as was the Morrvair and the Golden Nugget is), but any customer treatment is appreciable for me, be it even a little lesser‚special‘.

Heavy D's core audience is younger and want to watch things that are more on the edge. You can tell by the people that he has on his videos.

I was up there last week dirt biking. The snow bank was a little smaller last week then when this recovery was done. lots of little high mountain lakes up there to go fishing. Good to see that the driver realized there error before going any further. That path down there is only a 50" wide trail for 4 wheelers with trees and rocks lining both sides and multiple checks to keep larger vehicles off the trail. That ridge is nearly 11,000 feet high and so there doesn't have to be very much humidity for thunderstorms to boil up and rain down towards Joes Valley on the east side. That is essentially what was going on with that lightning. That is what keeps everything so green up there though.

7:58 made me crack up 🙂 What a perfect group of friends doing cool stuff together. Ed is so cool too, I stopped following a lot of other channels, now following Matt, Robby, Paul and Rudy, that is quality time for me, every time!

Trevor just puts me in a better mood. I woke up all grumpy saw him and said well this is gonna be a good day.

That was a good rescue. That end scene put a big smile on my face. I can't wait to see the full video of you folks giving him back the nugget.

Love these joint expeditions. You have a good tone and a lot of fun. You bring sunlight and happiness whether you work together or alone. Follow all 5 of you. It's good to have positive people like you.

At first I thought you guys would take the adventurous route and lower the truck cliff. I ended up in exactly the same sort of situation in a 65 Scout back in the late 70's as a teenager. We did a self extraction by using the winch on the front of the scout to drop it off a cliff about twice as tall as the Scout was long in order to get down to the road at the bottom of the ravine. The winches in those days weren't anything like the modern ones, but surprisingly, the Scout, and I lived to tell the tale. Life is so much easier now that there are people you can call like you to come and bail you out of the pickles you might encounter along the "road" Appreciate your sharing the adventure. Can't wait for the big reveal.

My wife and I were at that exact spot last September in our RZR, minus the snow drifts, and we're going back again this coming September to finish the trail system. That grade is much steeper than it looks in the video, and you guys did a good job of getting that Toyota out without damage.

As a truck driver I can relate to that " I'm in all kinds of trouble here" well I got myself into this mess so I have to get myself out. If there is a way in, there is a way out.
