    Looks good. One trick scale modelers do is go back to your larger (mustard-masked) silver blotches with black paint using a fine paintbrush. You sort of 'reverse-weather' to put tiny little bits and blobs of black back over some of the silver (think like very tiny reproductions of continents and islands from a map). You can also vary the paints---using small, jagged shapes of Tamiya 'smoke' works well. I usually touch up additional details, painting in tiny bits of matte, rusty yellow ochre and iron oxide red into edges.

    So since you mentioned it in this vid, how do you keep your clear coat from giving you the orange peal texture? I can go great base and top coats and been practicing weathering, but how do you do the clear coat? Or do you always have to sand it smoth?

  • @punishedprops

    @punishedprops

    6 жыл бұрын

    A lot of that depends on the brand of paint you use, the temperature/humidity, and what type of paint you used to base coat your prop. Practice and experience will help you figure out the best combination for your situation.

    what's the best/easiest way to fill the screw holes? And do the weathering powders actually last? or do they wear or rub off easily?

  • @punishedprops

    @punishedprops

    6 жыл бұрын

    Body fillers like Bondo are great for filling holes. Weathering powders stick around pretty well. You can also use fixatives to set them in place, but if they do wear off, they're easy enough to reapply.

    What percentage is the isopropyl alcohol? I've been looking at ways to thin down acrylic paint that may be used for airbrushing and leave a good finish, hearing everything from old available products like floor wax with Future to windshield wiper fluid.

    Thank you for getting back to me. I should have probably been more specific: for the isopropyl alcohol to use, what precentage type is it? 49%, 91%? Edit: I found out from another source that 49% is useful, but 91% is better. Thank you for your time. :)
