Nice! Love how it turned out. It's amazing how a little paint and a few extra pieces will turn a cheap Star Wars toy into an awesome blaster.

Just what I need - not making any modifications, but just started a painting/weathering project on a purchased Star Wars Blaster. Thanks - love your videos!

"No Star Wars costume is complete without a cool blaster" Jar Jar, a pit droid, BB-8 and that rat thing from Jabba's palace all burst onto the scene wielding awesome blasters.
That worked out so well! Thank you for sharing the techniques, there are many I wasn't familiar with and now look forward to using. Keep being awesome!
Nice work Brit. Thats my fav thing you've built so far!
Wow! A great result and thanks for sharing such delicious techniques with us!
Very cool indeed! Keep up the amazing work!
I love that you have an "Interesting Parts" bin! 😃 Nice Job!
Nice job on this! Looks really great.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for uploading this. I spent a couple hours before trying to find this kind of video. Evil Ted had a great one Great result! It definitely has that star wars feel to it. Please do more of these kinda builds!
Outstanding, very professional, informative, succinct and to the point. All killer, no filler, no pun intended - I regularly see videos on here where guys literally take over 3 times as long to impart less information with less clarity, IMO yours are by far the best I've seen on KZread.

I am working on painting and modding an xbox rifle controller into a Pikachu themed gun, like LITERALLY right now. I'm only watching this while watching primer to dry. So this was a perfect video to watch and get some tips from

Looks good. One trick scale modelers do is go back to your larger (mustard-masked) silver blotches with black paint using a fine paintbrush. You sort of 'reverse-weather' to put tiny little bits and blobs of black back over some of the silver (think like very tiny reproductions of continents and islands from a map). You can also vary the paints---using small, jagged shapes of Tamiya 'smoke' works well. I usually touch up additional details, painting in tiny bits of matte, rusty yellow ochre and iron oxide red into edges.
great vid!!
I'm pretty sure that already was a Star Wars blaster lol. Clone trooper blaster if im not mistaken. Looks waaaaaayyy better now though!

Roger Turner definitely a Rubies DC-15
Great work! The graphite was a cool addition. In the past I've used graphite powder and just rubbed it on with my finger, which results in an awesome semi-gloss gunmetal finish. You should try it sometime!

that looks sick! if you made a second one, that would add a tremendous amount to your low-key gunslinger costume :D
Super cool :)
The gun reminds me of the dh 17 which is pretty cool
I know kinda old now but this actually looks fun :P We don't have all the fancy painting tools that you guys have though x.x

I like the modification. The gun looks a bit like a Goncz GA pistol without the scope
Looks like it's right of the set of Last Jedi. Amazing.

So since you mentioned it in this vid, how do you keep your clear coat from giving you the orange peal texture? I can go great base and top coats and been practicing weathering, but how do you do the clear coat? Or do you always have to sand it smoth?
@punishedprops
6 жыл бұрын
A lot of that depends on the brand of paint you use, the temperature/humidity, and what type of paint you used to base coat your prop. Practice and experience will help you figure out the best combination for your situation.
It is a great idea.
Nice! I Subbed!

Tah-dah!
what's the best/easiest way to fill the screw holes? And do the weathering powders actually last? or do they wear or rub off easily?
@punishedprops
6 жыл бұрын
Body fillers like Bondo are great for filling holes. Weathering powders stick around pretty well. You can also use fixatives to set them in place, but if they do wear off, they're easy enough to reapply.
What percentage is the isopropyl alcohol? I've been looking at ways to thin down acrylic paint that may be used for airbrushing and leave a good finish, hearing everything from old available products like floor wax with Future to windshield wiper fluid.
@punishedprops
7 жыл бұрын
Thinning paint for an airbrush, it should be roughly the consistency of milk.
@DanielS2001
7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for getting back to me. I should have probably been more specific: for the isopropyl alcohol to use, what precentage type is it? 49%, 91%? Edit: I found out from another source that 49% is useful, but 91% is better. Thank you for your time. :)
I have to laugh I keep seeing that genesis rotary tool popping up on your videos, at least thats the brand on my identical one. For how cheap mine was, I've been pretty surprised at how better than decent it is
Awesome work!!! :D I'm currently painting my Nerf Quad Blaster I have a question what is a good substitute for mustard for the paint chipping effect? Thank you!! :D bad part is today is the premier of Gardians of the galaxy vol. 2 here at the Philippines i need to work fast xD

You guys should do a Rebel Trooper's helmet!
Digging the shirt, Might have to get me one.
Did you paint immediately after putting the mustard on, or wait for the mustard to dry a little bit first?
@punishedprops

You can spray paint on it right away.
Badass
have you got the video of the star wars costume build having trouble finding it ??
@punishedprops

+marketgarden holland Its not out yet.
YES, my mustard technique has finally gotten some coverage, now people will stop thinking I'm crazy for flinging mustard at my props
I know it's not relevant to this video but what paints/ finishes would you use for a Wood/MDF prop rifle. I'm looking for a gun metal grey finish on the majority of areas, with some more modern/futuristic areas that will be glossy and plasticky in the finish... Any pointers for these two finishes onto the wood? PS keep up the great work, I love your videos!

Hey Brittany, or anyone really, I'm working on a piece from For Honor and need to attach 3D printed PLA parts to a wooden dowel. What glue would you use to do that?

Punished Props damn, sorry for asking, but keep up the good work! This prop looks amazing
Every video and prop should be Star wars related, oooooobviously! :-D
Mustard-masking is a thing? I mean, I guess you can do that kind of chipping effect with anything that will stick to the underlayer and come off when you want it to...
Hi, we are filming the new Han Solo: "A Star Wars Story" Movie at the moment, can we use your Blaster for it?

"Old Airsoft gun scope." Old? That thing is ancient! Like seriously. It looks like you'd strap it to the side of a Mohsin Nagant (not that it would make a difference) and left it sat in a pool of water for 75 years.
You destroyed a perfect clone smg
lol
perhaps do some guns from Warhammer 40,000 ??
