The man has some skills for sure!!

I started working in a steak house when I was 14, in the late 90's; I was supposed to only be a dishwasher-- But I was overlooking the old man using his big grinder to make hamburger meat. He kept a large walk in freezer full of different cuts; he would buy a quarter or half cow and would cut up all the meat in a big band saw- this was all in the back kitchen of the steak house.. I had only worked there a couple of weeks, but he really liked me and called me smart all the time because I was always asking the right questions......... SO one day he was talking about not having enough time to grind the meat, and I insisted that I know how to do it-- and crazy enough, he let me run his big meat grinder: Well it turns out, I grabbed the wrong tray of meat- because I ended up grinding up about a dozen or more ribeye steaks. lol.. He was excited when he came back there and seen how well I was doing and how fast I had ground everything.. lol.. Until he realized it was the top shelf steaks... So that weekend he sold all that meat as "Ribeye burgers" and it was such a big hit that he put it on the menu from then on. After that summer I had to quit so I could go back to school, and he told me since I was hired, he started gaining more sales and they more than doubled the sales of the year before. So that was a pretty cool accident that I did. He would tell me to eat every time I came in early, so I would make one of those ribeye burgers, and they were ridiculously good.

A calm demeanor like Merlin has, beats a rush and panic show every day! Beautifully shot and love the sound of a diesel working! Great video as always...

Merlin is the type of guy that when he shows up you know everything is going to be ok no matter how bad the situation. Awesome stuff love that rig

It's always nice to have that one person you can call when things goes sideways and out of control . And as I watch this thinking I know what that's like to be that guy I get a call from my 23 year old brother law got his truck stuck in the woods at the farm ,I hope I'm back before dark lol

Yep, between Matt's new rig (Matt's Off-Road Recovery), Paul's new rig (Fab Rats), Rory's Trail Mater, Merlin's Tow Mater, and possibly Robbie Layton's new rig (if it is even scheduled to be ready?) it is gonna be awesome!! Does anyone know if Casey's got an entry too? I am torn who to really root for but I think I'm going with Paul's at FabRats!!

Correction, Matt says diesels aren't good in SAND.

I think this is the tow-truck that inspired Matt's Offroad Recovery to build their truck. It is just so beefy and cool.

I came here from Matts off-road. He sent me a fab rats, video they sent me yours! I’ve watched a few of your videos. I’ve watched a lot of theirs and watch. I’ve even watched you on a few of theirs. It feels like Matt is trying to make the same kind of tow truck a little better. When he’s done promise me you’ll show him what’s going on and make something better. If there’s anybody they can do it to you, Merlin. I could tell what’s going on lately with the channel and he needs somebody to slap them in the eye hole.

Matt's truck is being built for entirely different purposes. He's building his for the dunes of Sand Hollow and to primarily use to recover everything from SXS rigs to mired down RVs and camper combos from the soft sand. He uses the Morrvair and Banana for rock recoveries. The two trucks are night and day difference. He may try it in the rocks, but he's repeatedly stated that the Offroad Wrecker is mainly for use in the dunes.

Yea Ford used a similar pump on the old Escort and Tempo Diesels I replaced that o-ring on several of them the same way you did Merlin leave 2 bolts in to keep it together, awesome video Merlin Love your Channel!!

I'm a fan of them little Honda's they can run forever and the junkyards are full of them when they need parts. The only issue I have here in Canada is the damn rust but it's not the cars fault it's the salt trucks that dump salt on the roads in the winter like we are having the blizzard from hell but other then that they are god cars and great on gas

I have a cr-v has100. Thousand miles on it. Have never had a lick of problems with it. My sister's cr-v has over 200 thousand on it. Never had a problem with it. When I bought my Honda Accord it had 250 thousand on it put 80 thousand on it. So I love my Hondas

Matt, Paul, and Rory definitely do rescues in entirely different terrain than Merlin, or Eric so it’s hopeful that it’s set up that each landscape is included. Having said that if it’s true off road recovery then it’s going to be almost impossible to beat Rory and Trail Mater. What ever happens it’s should be a lot of fun with good natured competition.

I love the 1st gen Cummins powered Power Wagon ! Ok so my bad , it's a Chev cab not the Power Wagon , still a Mopar chassis !! Years ago I had a 1st gen Dodge Cummins with a NV 4500 & I found a 47 Flat Fender Power Wagon body & wanted to put that body on the 89 but I didn't have the funds to get it done unfortunately so this build is what I had planned to do .

Since i reside in arizona now and the guys just cool and knows his 💩 im going with Merlin . 👍👍✌ i would love to have a jeep like his red one with a 4 cylinder diesel with a doubler.

Don't know if the Diesel tow truck is going to be bearable listening to in the Tow truck Olympics lol all that rattling ,we not used to that noise while there's wheeling on the rocks going on,you got time to throw a big block petrol in it before the competition starts 😜😜😜😜😜😜

You and Rory and Paul may need to do the 1st olympics and wait the 4 years for Matt to finish his truck to do Tow Truck Olympics II

Good tip I need to do this on my VW IDI 👍 Only thing is I will lift the off the threads when removing the bolts so it didn’t get cut by the threads. All good tip though and thanks ✅👍

Tow Mater didn't even know the jeep was hooked to it, it just idled its way thru the job. It would have been interesting to have seen how you got the jeep on the trailer with the front wheels flopping around.
