If you are going to fox chapel, You should look across the river in Verona and Oakmont....There are marina's there where they live on their boats all year. Oakmont has its own regatta in the summer. You do have to go thru one lock to go downtown by river. BUT what is nice about the channel in that area is there are islands. Oakmont is an upscale town with a famous country club where the PGA comes to periodocally. Its a grand place to live.......15 minutes out of the city. There may be marina's on Herr's Island too......but I'm partial to Oakmont/Verona. There is alot of river activity in that channel.....

Since I was a little kid 50+ years ago, I have wanted to live on a houseboat in Oakmont.

That Southside Marina looks really nice!

Oh geeze. You went to mccrossin's landing. Ouch. When I first moved here to pittsburgh. I moved right there beside his place on the other side of the tracks there. He was a very ignorant guy. Got mad at all the little kids that would play on the rail road tracks. Called the police on them for trespassing. Police said that they were not trespassing on his property and they wouldnt do anything about them on the tracks as long as they were keeping an eye out for trains and being careful. Said it was to much pain in the butt to trespass them from the tracks because they cant keep everyone off and they'd be right back on after they left or whatever. The owner stalked a boy and kept trying to talk to him and have him go play with games in his pull behind rv he has on the back part of his property. Knew his name right away somehow. Never got his name from his family or friends. Think he got into their mail one day/night and found some of the kids mail. Went back and looked him up on Facebook. Everyone on the lower street there called imhim a pedophile. We moved a month after everything started because it just didnt feel safe there. Just be careful of that place.

Be very careful about flooding on the river Marissa. That's why that first marina had those pilings so tall,because of extreme flooding. If there was a lake marina,it would probably be much more stable and flooding should not be nearly so bad. We have green river just a few miles from my house here in Ky. and we get some pretty bad flooding at times. When the flood waters are coming up,the people have to pull their boats out of the water and take them to higher ground to get away from the water. And when the water gets low you have to let your lines out too. Same with high water. I have an idea that you are not going to like living on the river because the water levels change so much. Talk to the other boat owners so see what they have to do. Good luck and God bless.

Ya I know, I just bought a super nice new camera that I just made my updated tour video with, but after moving I can’t find the charger. I’ll have good quality again here soon enough, but for now I wanted to continue making videos!

Those are no mountains. Hahahah. This is countryside. You are in the Monongehela area. There is good access to Route 51and Belle Vernon, 70 to the turnpike. There is a decent retail area in Belle Vernon. My family is located in the Mon City area. There is a campground in that area, too.

At 24, the Downtown area is probably the way to go. :)
