Like all Ranger Tugs, the R-31 comes turn-key with standard features and equipment intended to make her owner's experience hassle-free, and allow for ease of handling and comfort underway.
Standard equipment includes bow thrusters, stern thrusters, and a Volvo D4 300hp engine that achieves a 16 knot cruise speed.
The interior layout of the R-31 features two staterooms, one large island berth forward with en-suite head and a midship berth and day head. Those who are familiar with Ranger Tugs models will recognize the galley layout and lower helm station that maximize interior space. A starboard side door provides easy access from the lower helm to the side decks so crew can get to the bow for line handling.

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.

    Thank you for this well done video presentation! I purchased a new Ranger Tug R-31 Command Bridge in 2021 from Winter Island Yacht Yard in Salem Massachusetts. After the passing of my beloved wife I needed to downsize from my 43' trawler yacht but wanted a vessel with all the amenities my larger boat had. The R-32 CB checked off all of the boxes and than some. Although the base boat comes with an extensive list of standard features, I purchased the Luxury Edition with the generator, air conditioning, etc. Additionally, I opted for a Bimini top, roll-up enclosure for the aft deck to enable me to sit outside on inclement weather days, the dingy with Weaver quick release davits, and a third helm station in the aft cockpit. The Volvo D4 diesel in incredible, giving me fantastic fuel economy at displacement speeds but with the ability to reach 19 knots if need be. The boat has the most amazing use of space I have ever seen and is literally a 'Swiss Army Knife' of innovation and design. The standard bow and stern thrusters make docking a pleasure. Truly a great 'pocket yacht' that attracts tons of attention everywhere you go!

    I’ve enjoyed watching your videos for years, but you’re missing things. The seat that folds up facing forward port side of the helm, open the fridges, was that an ice maker, how does that small berth close up for privacy, demonstrate the cockpit built in side seats. Otherwise, you did a good job and you have the voice to be a radio DJ, at midnight, for a cool jazz station. Look forward to the next video.

    Love these boats. I think people confuse these with Nordhavns - so no these are not blue water boats. That said Nordhavn only made 2 boats that could do the Loop. The 59 Coastal Crusier - and that one squeaks by, and the new 41 - which costs like a million dollars.

    Fine if you pick a good weather window. Like any modern powerboat I doubt I'd want to be aboard in a storm/high winds. She's meant for coastal cruising/inland waterways/nearshore stuff with an eye on weather.

    I like everything about the Ranger Tugs except for the range. You can't even go 500 miles. It's really just a water RV for the coast and rivers. You can't really go off grid.

  • @LearningtheLines

    @LearningtheLines

    Жыл бұрын

    You should definitely not be 500 miles from shore with this boat, or even a fifth of that, so I think the range helps keep people from trying to use the boat outside what it's designed and engineered for. Stay relatively close to shore, coastal cruise and and fuel up as you go. You don't need a big range to be "off grid." Get some solar and batteries.

    Like everything else, a boat is a compromise of values and features. For long distance cruising with extended range, you will need to pony-up some huge money and purchase a Nordhavn or a Krogen, both of which sport full displacement hulls albeit at only a 7-8 knot cruising speed. They are both really fine boats but are built for a different purpose.

  • @happychildhood591

    @happychildhood591

    Жыл бұрын

    The reason for the canvas is to allow the entire flybridge to be lowered as it is hinged just as the mast is. This allows the clearance needed to tow the boat and get under bridges while being towed on the road.

  • @happychildhood591

    @happychildhood591

    Жыл бұрын

    With all due respect sir, that is really not so. Their hulls are no thinner than most other boats being marketed today. They did get some bad press however from a man that bought a used Ranger Tug that had been improperly set up on jack stands while on the 'hard' at some yard which caused damage. He has posted his story all over the internet hence the myth that the hulls are weak. Additionally, this buyer did NOT have the boat surveyed by a marine surveyor who would have spotted the problem before the sale. So yes, he did indeed have problems but that was no fault of the factory nor of the quality of the build. They are well built vessels that are designed for coastal cruising like most other boats.
