This isn't surprising. Not just because it's another Culture Secretary not knowing their brief. Although Mad Nads really did set the bar pretty low. But also Tories being so arrogant that they can't name their opposite numbers in the devolved administrations. But then they can't even name members of their own party. I immediately got flashbacks to Jacob Rees-Mogg being asked in the Commons if he even knows who the leader of the Tory Party in Wales is, and him naming the Secretary of State for Wales instead.

I actually did go to school with her funnily enough. Leftwich County High in Cheshire. We were in the same set in English, and then our paths diverged quite massively, haha. Huge dry frizzy hair, flaky skin, head always buried in her books. She was regarded as a died in the wool swot. She's actually a northerner originally, would you believe. Bizarre seeing her in this position, getting absolutely slated on social media. Just thought I'd share that.

I’m no fan of the tories but that could also be an embarrassed or awkward laugh, some people do do that. Getting fed up seeing short clips of things with a headline and being told you should feel outraged.

Let's try to act in good faith for a moment. Scotland is a part of the UK that represents just 1/13th of its population. I wouldn't be surprised if the UK Culture Secretary-in post for just 90 days-could also not name many public servants in other areas of the UK of a similar size. It's just bias to read anything into this awkward exchange. Some people rictus smile when they are in awkward situations, as we all well know. With respect, the Scottish Culture Secretary is not the 'opposite number' of the UK Culture Secretary, she is subordinate by any constitutional reckoning, as hard as that seems to be for an SNP politician to fathom. Scotland is not the equal of the United Kingdom, it is *part* of the United Kingdom. I don't say that to defend the Tories or any other party, I just find all this ad hominem bad faith very tiresome and unhelpful.
