Have to disagree. Bendy buses don't work in the UK because apparently they don't train their drivers properly. There is many cities in the rest of Europe with narrow streets where they work perfectly fine. In fact: There is villages with much much much more narrow streets that you find them in London, and bendy buses work just fine there.

I'll be honest, I got lost in Swansea thanks to satnav sending me down a lot of roads with names like "Unnamed Road" and I ended up in some nice lady's front drive, who came out to see what were up to. I ultimately ended up on the B4337 (you get the idea of wha' this satnav was doing to me) and blew a tyre and had to wait an hour for AA because they got lost as well. The punchline is that the satnav had multiple settings and it was set to "shortest" which meant it would take the mathematically shortest route by length regardless of speed limit, width, or existence of road. *Shortest,* not "fastest" mind you -- that was a different setting. On the trip back to Cardiff I found the "easiest" setting...

I watched this sat next to my Mexican-American flatmate....

What I learned about this is Britain cant make bendy buses. We have had them in Sweden for as long as I can remember before I was even born and I am 34. And they have had more crashes with the London double decker buses every year than Sweden have had with the bendy buses in the last 20 years.

Them bendy buses (then owned by the Go Ahead group) ended up being shipped out to other parts of the UK, some ended up doing Go North East routes around Newcastle & Gateshead, and my god was it awful being in the back of one, I rarely get travel sick, but I had to stop looking towards the front cos they made me want to vomit with the articulation going on, thankfully they went away to some other poor saps presumably to never be seen again...

I learn so much about public transport every time I watch this show. I have only taken public transport twice in my life. Once when I was in California I took a train from the city to the beach and once when a friend and I wanted to go to the aquarium but not pay for parking so we took a street car. I’ve been on plenty of planes, charter busses, and Disney busses, but never a public bus, subway, or any of that nonsense. Pretty much everyone I know has a car and can drive themselves around
