Thank you for your kind words. That is so lovely to hear. 💖💖💖
Make sure the roof is structurally sound for all the weight that's going to be up there.
Agree with Emma! Enjoy your rooftop now. Just start slowly with a couple of potted travelers palms, 2 cafe tables and a couple of fun parasol’s for shade. Through the summer you can add more lounge furniture, plants and solar string lights, etc . Bit by bit, should have something really nice…maybe even in time for your sister’s birthday.🤗
I agree with Emma, don’t wait 5 years to do a rooftop setting to enjoy that view! I also agree with you, Camilla, having beveled mirrors in any room would certainly bring more light and reflection. Another great video by you and Ollie. Thank you. 🥰🌷
A bed on the terrace...can't you just imagine! What a fun place to read and sip on a lovely afternoon.
💖👑👑💖🎬📽🎥The Magical Modernist Mansion is going to be even more beautiful by the time you both have Done . The Magical Modernist Mansion is already Beautiful with all the Art on the walls it just needs Camilla and Oillie who is a Artist to put there mark on it and bring out the beauty with what is already there .l Love this couple thay are so cute together .This channel always cheers me up 💖😊💖
I love ❤️ the ideas you've gleaned for your personal rooftop terrace. Before you go too far, however, consult your architectural engineer to see what the load bearing weight limit is for your grand old lady and if there are any stress points. You don't want the roof crashing down from a few too many potted palms. I hope the MMM can handle a jungle's worth of foliage and many solid furniture pieces. I can hardly wait to see what you are able to create. Best of luck 👍 ✨️ 💓 xxx
Beautiful spaces. It amazing how plants transform a space. I made a similar retractable cable awning as seen at the Radio cocktail bar for my first home. It was super inexpensive and easy. All I required was canvas drop clothes, curtain hoops, waterproofing spray/spray wax, black nylon rope, eye hooks, and reclaimed pots half filled with rock to hold reclaimed ten foot aluminum fence posts. I place landscape fabric over the rock, fill the remainder with soil, and filled plants. I was able to create a beautiful dining area with a tiny budget. I helped a few friends and one sister create similar awnings. To avoid damage during storms I did remove the fabric ahead of forecasted weather. The whole setup was replace three years later once I had the funds to renovate the terrace and garden. I gave the setup to my neighbor and helped her put it up. She replaced the fabric with a beautiful stripped canvas and cushions she ordered custom from a local shop. Twenty years on my sister still has hers. The did eventually anchor the aluminum posts to the concrete and clad them in wood. The nylon rope was upgraded to stainless steel cable five years in. My point..... the look and function is achievable on a tight budget, with higher end modifications (stainless steel cable, custom outdoor fabrics, wood cladding,, etc, etc, later on.
Emma's got a great point ! Set up your roof terrace/bar/lounge and enjoy it now ! Loved your tour !
Beautiful hotels! Thanks for sharing. ❤
Camilla’s arms? Ah-mazing! Hard work and dedication shows. Definitely envious.
wasn't sure to start with but the 2 of you so compliment each other and really make me smile. as a retired specialist interior designer, so wonderful to see some beautiful designs. thank you..once a designer always a designer!
Ollie and Camilla I must tell you how much I love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊❤
Hello Oliver And Camilla What i am finding out about your Madrid is that there is an intellect and Confidence exuding in the aesthetic Also your lovely banter is so faithful to the cause So respectful and joyful ⚜ Shira mid town Jerusalem
Beautiful hotels! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see how the roof terrace turns out.
I went to a huge party on Sardinia at the home of a famous fashion designer I worked with and he had lined the road to his home with candles in glass jars leading up to the terrace where he had made several large simple iron four poster beds with white mattresses and curtains that moved in the evening breeze. He decorated the house inside and out with over 100,000 huge white roses, it was magical. Another year he did another party in his Milan studio that was an enormous old factory with many rooms and levels and he had again many thousands of roses everywhere. There was a grand piano and an orchestra and in one room with very high ceiling he had created 20 or so 5 metre long white wedding dresses that hung from the rafters.
I love a great outdoor space in the sun with lots of plants and comfortable seating. 🙂🇨🇦
Great idea Emma. Start using what you have got now. Start small snd can always add to it. The perfect place for a party!
Thank you for taking me to places that are so beautiful.
Try a couple citrus trees. Fresh citrus for your cocktails would be very nice.
What a Beautiful Hotel. The Roof Terrace Could Be Amazing. Definitely Lots Of Plants In Pots, Seating Table. Maybe Some painting. Xx 😘😊
Loved your blog, you delve into minute details which go unnoticed. You have a beautiful house and a beautiful terrace make the most of it. Waiting impatiently for your next one.

Bird of paradise, Heliconia schiedeana, cycads (zamia & sago palm), fan palms (European, Mexican or California), date palm, bananas (hardy Cavendish or winter), Butia capitata, are all good choices for you roof garden. Clumping bamboo is nice in pots or planters. There's a large range of heights of hardy, clumping bamboo to pick from. NOTE: Do not plant running bamboo. It is a menace. Various gingers are lovely in a container or roof garden. I also love a couple different water plants, horsetail & umbrella papyrus. They're so easy, just add water. They're perfect in most water features with a recirculation pump. I've found several hardy Aechmea bromeliads that are quite interesting. These will all tolerate freezing cold and high heat.
I watch you for a long time and it was all about the house and restoring it, now its everything but restoring and all about looking and talking about lovely things. .... I miss the restoring bit !
oooooo all I need is a Margarita, some cool sophisticated vibes and the setting Spanish sun! Thank you once again for the inspiration and the travel guide! Your content is FAAABULOUS!!

Thanks for showing me a completely different side of Madrid (mine was twenty years ago). It is so lovely and other worldish. Can hardly wait for my next trip.
Great visits, especially the Four Seasons rooftop, and all details shown with an expert pov. I loved how the vibrant abstract art on the walls were framed in classic gold leaf frames and boxed frames, Ollie's art has that same vibrant art sensibility for that type framing ideas... Thanks for the lovely and inspiring video!!
You two will make the roof top bar lovely and fun. blessings.
Lovely dress!
Best episode ever! Loved seeing the rooftop garden inspo. Your place will be gorgeous!

Stunning rooftops 🥰🥰 I think it’s a wonderful idea to get your terrace done now to enjoy 🥰
Hi Olie & Camilla, The first entrance of the hotel reminds me of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum spiral design of the building in New York City. The last roof top that you visited has the best ideas to copy for your own roof top gathering spot. I can't wait to follow the progress of the rooftop and what it looks like. Mark & Scott
Oh, I quite like that padded paneling idea...I imagine it would soften the sounds in the room.
Haven't been to Madrid but true, so many similarities to Barcelona. YES!!! Your sister totally has the right idea; your rooftop terrace is begging to entertain you!
Love your vlog! Any updates on when your restoration/renovations will begin? Can't wait to see your visions come to life!
Ponytail palms ❤❤
So creative! Thank you for your inspirations!
Great episode, thanks for the inspiring tour of the rooftop gardens/bars/terraces 💚 Looking forward to seeing what you do with your rooftop terrace 🩷💜💚🌱

The Four Seasons is magnificent…Love both rooftop bars …The long white bench is spectacular…Camilla is so right love mirrors to bring in light and Camilla looks stunning in her fabulous dress as always …
What gorgeous terraces, designed with a perfect eye for shape and colour, as well as comfort. I could not agree more, the clever positioning of various mirrors to reflect the windows or or lights in any room does instantly take it to another dimension. So many exciting decorative decisions still to be made …
Lovely places to visit ! Lots of great ideas for your roof top exciting to plan it all but yes do watch the kitties 🐈⬛
Forgot to mention I always watch you and Stephanie travel! And bc I always watch Chateau Diaries, I met you Oliver when you were visiting the Chateau and thought you were a hoot! 😊
Loved this vlog! Wow the places are incredible and don't all of you live in the best place ever!!! ❤

We are extremely lucky and so happy to be able to share it 💖💖
When am abroad i always head for the roof top bars. One of my fav is "Volks bar" . Nerja take a look! Your roof terrace is brill! Just give it a jet wash ( as i know at the moment you cant paint), it will bring it up a treat and refresh! Then as your sister said palms&plants, outside rug, furniture, canopy, lightening. Will look amazing! It will be interesting if you can shop 2nd hand, find some bargins.
I like the way Camilla really notices details.
Fantastic.... Every moment! I'm going to toast to you all with tonight's cocktail...
Hands down, the best rooftop bar is The Radio Bar, I would be happy🍹 there every evening. Camilla, I would strongly recommend that the structural integrity of your rooftop be inspected. You wouldn't want to put to much weight on it, like potted planters. But to avoid additional costs ( like extra taxes) just tell them it's for family gathering from time to time. 😉
Another wonderful vlog 🫶 Thanku both Soo much... Love the wisteria ❣️
oh the four seasons always manages to wow - if only we could afford to stay there now and then! emma comes through - great ideas get busy!!!!
I cannot wait to see what you create on your rooftop after seeing all those beautiful rooftop bars. Your sister had marvellous ideas. The palms will bring an ambiance. 🌴🍹
I can’t wait to watch you shop and decorate the rooftop!! 👏🥂. Add in a little DIY :)
I know that with your and Ollie's good taste and Emma's plant ideas your rooftop would be a perfect place to lounge. And how exciting that all the girls will be together!!
Hi Camilla & Ollie, apologies for missing your livestream (im so annoyed with myself), anyway moving on, your suggestion to use scalloped sliding sunshades would be great on your roof terrace (especially if you choose a moroccan style fabric suitable for outside use) = in-keeping with a lot spanish properties - I would suggest using a fungal killing solution on the cement type wall facias & brick flooring on your roof to get them clean with a stiff broom (three sprays over two weeks should do it), Please don`t use a power washer - A few flickering candle wall lights in a gothic style would look good with some hidden uplighters for the plant pots.
Your videos are fantastic! You are actually showing us interesting locations. What a great idea, Hotel roof tops! Your eye for detail is the best. I'm glad you have your sister with you. ❤

Oh for a roof terrace.❤
Great video of beautiful places.
I do like the travel and history videos but I really miss the renovation videos. As that’s why we all started tuning in. It feels like it’s been months since the last project of the daybed.

To answer the question: yes you will need to make your rooftop wind and weather proof. Don't spend too much money until you use/live in the space. Plants are a must! Covered patio is crucial to hot areas such as yours. Give yourself all sorts of shade with just a small portion to full sun. Trust me you won't be there baking in the sun without water nearby. Plan your colors to match your exterior: pots, furniture, fabric and flowers. It will elevate your space. Think about how your plants will be watered. Dark colors will fade, but white won't. Exotic themes are fun: tropical, safari, island, bali, colonial, conservatory, hemingway, etc. A place to take a nap, dining table/chairs, group drinks area, bar, couples cozy niche, alone space. Used wicker, rattan and wood pieces work well and are great pieces for a modest budget. Have fun!
You could use a mini-fridge/freezer in the structure that is on top of your roof. For ice cubes and chilled beverages, glasses (acrylic ones, maybe).
You've got a fabulous roof that you could do so much with. Loved all the places you took us, thx for sharing.

Another amazing vlog, thank you! Remember all plants will need regular care to keep them alive in the heat/sun.
Love art deco & art nuvous Get a cocktail trolley, then push on the roof Use drought tolerant plants
Very nice. Looking forward to seeing your decorated rooftop terrace. And I second the visiting Morocco idea.
Your roof terrace will look amazing! Potted palms, some seating, maybe the day bed you rescued? A bar area, lots of fairy lights! You Emma and Ollie can definitely pull it off!😊🌼🍾🥂🥳

Thank you. I am sure with the added incentive of evening cocktails on the roof terrace, we can manage it 🤣🤣
Great vlog! I can't wait to see what you do on your rooftop. I think those canopy benches you saw with the awnings would be very easy to build.
Thx for sharing Madrid! I loved every moment. It’s an excellent idea to incorporate simple transforming ideas to your own rooftop. Even cleaning all the stonework with a water pressure device would make a huge difference to the area. I loved the palm tree idea, just make sure they don’t become loose missiles in a storm. Take care and keep entertaining us!
I loved the way you pointed out the design differences between the first hotel and the Four Seasons. I saw a few other differences, that could impact your design choices if you keep them in mind ahead of time: 1)The Four Seasons had a more elegant, less abrupt change in style and design flow as you moved from from one type of space to another. 2)There was more visual open space to rest the eyes, giving more significance to the individual details--especially in the plantings, where the first terrace felt like everything was a bit crowded together with no distinction between focal points vs. non-focal points, leaving me uncertain what the main focal point was. 3) Ornamental objects, including functional pieces like the beautiful glass sconces, were perfect scaled for the space each object occupied at the Four Seasons, where some things felt too small for their space, and other things felt to large for their space at the first terrace you visited. 4) The Four Seasons had a symmetry that lent purpose and unity to the design, where the other terrace felt lacking in symmetry. The fabric-paneled walls in the interior space and the seat cushions in the outdoor space pulled from the green on the spectacular bell tower that Oliver called a turret. The wood tones indoor and out were a similar tone to the umbrellas and the bronze on the bell tower There were hits of mustard yellow and blue in the planters outdoors; indoors the beautiful glass sconces as well as the lighting above the ceiling drop were similar yellow tones, while the blue was echoed in the modern art canvasses. The yellow also showed up on the printed fabric that was used in a different interior seating area nearer the elevators, and the blue showed up again in panelling on the concierge desk near the elevators. As you walked out onto the terrace, the four umbrellas perfectly framed the bell tower they matched, in the center of the entrance. I'm fairly confident that the entrance to the outdoor space was designed to centrally frame that view of the bell tower. 5) The Four Seasons had a nice blend of carefully placed curved lines and straight lines, which gave the overall design a sense of timelessness while blending design elements from a variety of eras, as Camilla pointed out! The first terrace felt like a pieced together bohemian style that seemed more accidental than intentional. The intentional symmetry and repeating lines and colors at the Four Seasons were the elements that struck me as the excellent foundation that held it all together.
