Magical Modernist Mansion

Magical Modernist Mansion

We have been vlogging about our lives in this beautiful crumbling mansion, near Barcelona, Spain since July 2022. In this time, a message has come out so emphatically from you, our viewers, that you really enjoy watching us for so much more than house renovation.

With this in mind, we are focussed on making this vlog a diary. We will take you on the the journey of our lives, as a family with a lot of animals, enjoying the ups and downs of this huge undertaking - to live in a beautiful but crumbling mansion with so very many challenges - and to breathe into you the amazing life and culture of this fascinating place and all the incredible places that we visit.

We use the funds from KZread to help rescue our Mansion. For behind the scenes photos and movies about our project and to support our house restoration / renovation project , join us at www.patreon.com/magicalmodernistmansion

If I had to hazard a guess about the reason for the slope in the foyer it would be one of three things: 1) the building was built on a slight hill and they followed that rather than building it with flat floors, 2) part of the building has settled over the years (but you'd likely see cracks in the walls if that were the case), or 3) they did it intentionally in the event of flooding, so the water would all run to one side of the foyer and could be swept out the door. Those moldings around the ceiling are stunning! I would put the dining area over in the other side of the room, so that it's not in the sight line from the front door when you look into the room. I love that wallpaper with the purple bird! And the tile factory was fascinating! What a fun time of renovating a place, to choose all these beautiful décor items!

Your home is so lovely and I know it must be a thrill to live there! Realizing in my late 50s that I have an ADHD brain was such a freeing thing! While I still have the same challenges, it explained so many things in my life and has helped me to stop beating myself up over certain things I do in the MOST complicated way possible as my brain runs off on a million tangents, hyperfocus on them for months...and then abandon the projects before I finish them. Always on to the next project, don't you know! Ollie, you are so lucky to have found the right partner to share your life, and I know that must make all the difference. Camilla, you are an angel and obviously exactly the right match for someone with Ollie's challenges. I think my ADHD was a definite advantage when I worked in the corporate world, but I do need a bit of "taking care of" with certain things. We're the visionaries and in-depth researchers the world needs, but we need a more grounded person in our lives for balance. My mother was in that role for me, and since her death I've done a bit of "drifting" at times (as Napoleon Hill put it), unable to move forward with things that will advance my business and financial position. And oh, I'm drawn like a magnet to other people with ADHD! There's a certain kinship we have with others who understand us and whose brains are also operating at that faster speed like ours do. Thank you both for sharing your lives with others who can benefit from your experience!

There is a pheromone spray for cats that has a calming effect, and removes their aggression.....and is harmless. I am sorry I do not know the name, but it is sold at most pet stores.

🍎Ollie and Camilla, Fabulous, sunny day in our part of the world! Wish you the same! About ADHD: I know a lot of people that have that condition, even family members and studying them, I notice that they are the group of people that shouldn't have any alcohol whatsoever because as you know the content in alcohol is fermented fruits, which will cause the wine and other beverages to be potent and very strong and so will cloud the brain and send off all kinds of confusion signals in the brain because it goes through the blood that feeds the brain and it relaxes and slows down the part of the brain that makes you function normally, if it wasn't always being relaxed by fermented beverages which people consume everyday. So the brain is always relaxed and not stimulated to be happy and function in a normal way if you can't say I don't drink. The brain has to be fed with nutritious foods like lots of fruits and vegetables, cut way back on sugar and do have dark chocolate as it sends a signal to the brain that it tastes good and so you feel good as opposed to alcohol that will slow down the brain. Also lots of different berries like the birds that fly thousands of miles and remember year after year, because it's natural sugar in the berries. So if you want to come off of medication that will only cause more medication, then you have to be smart and try a diet that's alcohol free and compare the difference. We are so happy, it's the greatest feeling and it's all because we can say we don't drink and have a diet like the birds and eat a lot of vegetables like the dinosaurs! Cheers to your new diet to be ADHD free, the same way people can become cancer free if they change their diet. Changing your diet can be the answer to your prayers! I must tell you, some people can drink, but some people can't, even if they're a man because of the way their brain functions. That's the bottom line. Adios! Ciao! Au Revoir!🌴

Even though the tom cat is now fixed, it will take a few months for his testosterone to leave his body and he will still be aggressive and territorial when you put him back outside. . So know that his behavior is not going to be any different for a few months. After several months, he will start to feel the effects of his neutering and will calm down. Have to say, you climbing down the ladder with that big heavy cage was quite an achievement.

Ah, Ollie I can totally relate to getting distracted by what the cats are doing! I love how as soon as the cat spied the box on the table, that was the obvious spot she (he?) was going to sit! 😻😸 Cats & boxes just go together! 📦 🐈 📦 🐈‍⬛ I have 3 cats. Greetings from Australia

Apart from all your impressive skills, it warms my heart to see you are an animal lover and protector as well. I hope the ginger cat will be less aggressive and poor Allegria either finds a suitable home or your other cats gradually accept her. Tricky with cats as they are so territorial.

Well done Camilla. Those traps are heavy empty add a frightened cat and then negotiating step ladder....wow wonder woman Its such a sense of relief once you rescue an animal and start it on its new journey. I hope you manage to get the black and white one too. Fingers crossed once their hormones have stopped raging they will stop attacking your girl. Ive just rescued 2 little female kittens around 9 months old from a gang of 10 tom cats... they were petrified chased incessantly. The owner of the kittens sais she was sold them as being "done" clearly they were not said she coukd afford it etc... She signed them over to me on Monday I have the black and white my builder has the tabby. Both were spayed on Thursday morning and now recovering. Its cost a lot but i just could not leave them to be ...well raped constantly by the Tom cats. I'd never seen so many toms it was frightening..terrifying for the little ones. So now I have 4 cats !!! 🤦‍♀️ Hope all goes well 😻😻😻😻
