Comfort level, .38 Special - can shoot all day $$ .357 Magnum - can shoot a box , starts to become a bit much. $$$ .44 Magnum - shoot 18 rounds, had enough of that. $$$$$

45 LC was around decades before the .44 mag, is a more common load, carry’s 25% more energy, and is a larger round. It it far far far superior to the 44 mag. But, you never mentioned it 🤷🏼

bs bs, bs. 12 ga slugs, 3006 softpoints to the chest OFTEN dont even stop a 100 lb deer, and HAVE failed to stop MEN, too. 9mm to the brain stops them every time. So you're full of it to say that a 44 mag pistol will stop bears, but a 9mm will not. Do NOT count upon chest hits to stop charges, cause even a 458 has failed to do that. Dont fire beyond 20 and if he's that far away still, fire over his head. the blast often makes the bear veer off or stop. but once you WOUND him, THEN his charge will be to the death. It's not TRUE that you only get one shot, unless youre stupid enough to be using something that recoils 3x too damned hard, which IS what a .44 DOES. even in "bear country", you're many times more likely to be attacked by men or dogs than bears. When I'm in such areas, I carry the same pocket 9mm that I carry everywhere else and it's loaded with the same 50 gr, 2000 fps Liberty Arms solid copper hp that it's loaded with anywhere else. I'm not wasting $1000 on some specialty "bear pistol" and also handicapping myself when I need fast repeat shots and ease of ccw. That 3 lb hunk of crap hanging on your hip will give you a bad back someday.
