Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum with 4" Barrel. First Shots and Thoughts on this Big Bore Handgun

Спорт

First shots and my experience with the Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum with a 4 inch barrel. The results were different than I anticipated. Recoil was not too intense and the Smith and Wesson is very accurate and a great gun to shoot if you like recoil.

I love my 500 magnum. It is by far my favorite gun that I own.

Wow - the muzzle blast from those Precision One rounds completely engulf that revolver! 💥 👀

Holy cow! I haven't gotten through the video yet but you made shooting that handcannon look easy at the start. 50 rounds of .44 Mag in a Model 29 is PLENTY for me in one sitting - I couldn't imagine 60 rounds of .500 Mag! Just a guess, but I wonder if the very small gap between the cylinder and forcing cone is to minimize flame cutting and blast from the sides of the frame. Going to finish up now, but will say too that I like your presentation style!

Thanks for watching. The model 29 is one of my favorites, its a great gun. You don't hear about flame cutting much these days because the tolerances are so much tighter. Not having the correct gap could cause issues. There is still quite a bit of energy coming out the gap, even with the tight gap. It could take your finger off if you put it in front of the gap. 500 recoil is different its a lot more push and not the flip type recoil of the 29. What barrel length do you have on your 29?

@@BigBoreGuns Those are great points! I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to revolvers. I only have that Model 29 (I took a look, it's a 6.5" 29-2) that was used by a great-uncle who enjoyed handgun hunting and a Colt Commando that my great-grandfather bought as surplus to use as a patrolman. You know, it is funny to think how certain guns behave to give you different kinds of felt recoil that might be unexpected. Just comparing their cylinder gaps to that of your S&W500 was what led me to that thought since obviously the .500 Mag is massively powerful, especially compared to .38 Special, so even with the small gap I imagine it's a ton of energy. Great video and discussion of the ammo too! I subscribed!

@@spartansfan1026 What a great story behind that 44. Thats one of the things I appreciate about firearms like that, they last and help revive memories of family history.

I never owned a revolver because I never shot or owned one. My first will be Colt Anaconda 8’ 44 Mag. I wanted the S&W 500 Mag but it looks like it’s too much power for me honestly. Looks like it would break my wrist😂😂. Although I will say it is a fine firearm. I may find my ballz 😂😂 in the future and get it but as of now it’s a no for me Nice video and explanation of the firearm and the different types of ammunition

Thanks for watching. The Colt Anaconda is a great gun. It is still a very powerful and high quality handgun and one of the coolest looking revolvers.

haha - your "first" will be an Anaconda (which is also a beautiful gun), but I predict your second will be the 500 (don't let the hype get to you, get to the range, one trip and you will be comfortable with it) - and I bet one of ~3-5 will be a Python. Wishing you all the best

I'm happy for you. Now all the US has to do is catch up with the rest of the world with things like universal health care, free 3rd level education, voting rights, labour rights, housing rights. You know, stuff that actually matters.

Thanks for watching. Unfortunately nothing is really ever “free”, you’re paying higher tax rates to get those benefits. Government never does a good job at managing money. It’s a different mindset here, we place a higher value on our freedoms and independence. We don’t want to be like the rest of the world.
