In Bruges, The Real Rockn'rolla, Event Horizon, Strange Days and The Abyss are criminally underrated gems more people need to watch.

I love Event Horizon.
Jeff, I like your rebrand so far. It's nice that your new content isn't always about what we can buy this week. I keep a strict budget for movies, but I still fall into the collector trap of buying movies I only sort of like because they're impressive transfers. There are channels for movie collectors and channels for cinephiles, but too few collector channels focus on whether the story itself is good enough for our collections.
Tarantino and Avery had an in depth discussion on The Friends of Eddie Coyle on The Video Archives podcast. Really great discussion.
Great list Jeff! Predestination is a movie I blind bought a few years ago, and man, it's definitely a mindbender!
7 psychopaths is absolutely amazing. The entire cast is fantastic, and the dialog is so damn funny.

You just made my day! So frustrating that shudder isn’t available in Europe..
Thank you so much, Jeff! Been on the lookout for some new recommendations! The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez, Crimson Tide, Thief, Bottle Rocket and Mary & Max are some other super underrated films as well!
Bought a few of these just now! Love the channel and love these new videos. Keep it up!
Thanks jeff, this never appeared on my stream, found it looking for something else, will watch it tonight . Great video, Predestination looks good, like to see it before buying it, you forgot to mention Jumper at the end .
Wow Jeff! If this is your new direction for you channel I have to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ! I love learning about movies and cinema I've not seen or heard.. Thank you Jeff. Can I have some more please. Thank you. Stay safe and healthy always.
Thanks for this Jeff, this is the type of content I like
Love videos like this added everything except when evil lurks (already seen it) to my watch list.. would love more hidden gems/deep cut or recommendations videos
Eddie Coyle film the way you described it reminds me of a classic outstanding British version, Get Carter, starring Michael Caine whose character is a retired gangster in early 70s filmed around very gritty English urban settings, Newcastle. Thanks for all these tips, most interested in Letter Never Sent which currently streaming on free regular youtube.
This is a great list!! Excellent video, Jeff. - I hit you up on both my accounts on Twitter. Keep up the great work!! 📺
As soon as I saw your thumbnail I knew predestination was on this list! I absolutely love that movie, glad you mentioned it. Great comparison to the other films you mentioned. I agree 100%. Hopefully more people check it out & get the same feels we did…
Great video!
Geez, what interesting suggestions. They all look interesting. Can't believe I've never heard of the 7 psychopaths!
Glad to see Predestination on this list, such an amazing film.
I started watching your video thinking to suggest Predestination in the comments and was really happy to see you put in the list. It’s basically the most paradoxical storyline I’ve ever seen.
I can't wait to check out Letter Never Sent.
Thanks Jeff. Gonna check out Seven Psychopaths and Predestination. I love IN Bruge and Daybreakers so I don't know how those went under my radar.
Eddie Coyle is a great movie. Thanks for adding it.
When evil lurks is the real deal. Like great deal!. Awesome!
If you wanna see another great movie from Argentina, I would recommend WILD TALES (RELATOS SALVAJES). It was nomminated in the foreign language category at the Oscars in 2015!
Hi Jeff. I first want to say you have a great show & I catch every one of them. I'd like to share three thoughts with you. 1-Random Communication: Would it be possible to have a way your viewers can send you a message here on KZread (For questions or comments not related to your show they're watching? 2-In the vaults there's many audio recordings (songs) that have never been heard. Wouldn't it be great if these recordings could be used in movies (in the background)? It would give another chance for these songs to maybe possibly become a hit. Alternate versions of popular songs could be used in films that deal with alternate realities. I think that would be cool! On the video side, films that lay buried in the vaults could be shown on the TV's in scenes too! 3-When songs are chosen for movie scenes, they can put easter eggs in there. Like for example, Rocky goes into a deli & on the radio they're playing Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer". It's an idea that could work for any song (my opinion). I'm sharing these thoughts with you so in case you ever meet up with anyone in the business, you can share these thoughts with them if you want to. Take care! --- Bill (From Mt. Holly, NJ)
Predestination was recommended to me by a friend, top movie i hope to see more recommendations
Such an interesting list, the only film I have seen is Predestination (several times) it really is a cracking bit of sci-fi and definitely a film I recommend to people. Really interested to see When Evil Lurks, I'd never heard of it but sounds right up my street 🙂
Happy to say I own two of these movies on blu, Seven Psychopaths and Predestination. 😎 If you like quirky time travel movies, there's a Spanish movie called Timecrimes (Los Cronocrimenes) which is definitely worth checking out, and also Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, a low budget British comedy starring Chris O'Dowd.
Thank you for these suggestions . My top 5 would be 5. Elysium 4. Running Scared 3.Guilty by Suspicion 2. The Way Back 1. This Boy's Life

@@ilijacogelja6580 🤣Just bustin' your chops. I figured you meant the Paul Walker classic. Love that movie. Total hidden gem.
Predestination has to be one of my favourites. This totally deserves a 4K release. but also re-market it so it could gain a larger audience.
The Friends of Eddie Coyle is such a fantastic movie. Mitchum is excellent. I think I saw it for the first time on Dana Hersey's Movie Loft on Channel 38. And that's the Boston I remember from my childhood.
Thanks Jeff. Gonna give friends of Eddie Coyle a look. I’m from Long Island and I feel the same way about late sixties and seventies NYC. Appreciate it!
Sorcerer, Riders of Justice, and Burning were 3 hidden gems i recently enjoyed.
Hey Jeff thank you for you content. Do you like giallo movies?
Thanks Jeff! I ordered "when evil lurks" Love horror. It's prob about 98% of my collection
No offense, but When Evil Lurks is talked about everywhere any time "best horror" films of the most recent years has been a topic. Good to bring it up again, but it's not exactly under the radar anymore. I _do_ however agree with you on Predestination. I hadn't even heard about it until a year and a half after it had been released, and it was recommended to me by a really good friend that I'm generally the one to recommend things to (he really never does). It was a shock that he not only recommended it, it was probably one of the best recommendations that I can remember for a film I'd never heard of ever.
Predestination blew my mind!
*Predestination blew my mind when I saw it!* So well put together, maaan it was towards the end of the straight to DVD era, which had some cult classics, such a magical time. I never knew it came out at cinema first, prob cos it barely made a splash at the box office. 🤟🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤟🏽 Straight to streamin rarely has the hidden gems straight to DVD had.
Predestination blew my mind when I saw it. I tried telling my friends to check it out. Seven Psychopaths is hilarious. Great list of movies to look into. Very curious of the others.
Terrified and When Evil Lurks are both fantastic!
Predestination is one of my faves time travel..but this one is nuts..lol
Letter never sent is on youtube in HD on the Mosfilm channel
William Friedkin's Sorcerer & Rampage.

Sorcerer is a piece of crap, not near the genius of Wages of Fear
Great choices! That Predestination box art is awful though. Im excited to try ot out.
Here’s a great hidden gem horror for you Jeff, A Dark Song (2016). Seeing the other movies you’re recommending I think it’ll be up your street.
You should make letterboxd lists along with this video. I follow you there and would like a centralized location other than your YT
My dad can confirm Eddie Coyle is a very accurate snapshot of the time and place, a lot his friends were… involved with the film.

Ha! “Involved” 🤔
Gonna throw some westerns into the mix: Walter Hill's follow up to the Warriors, The Long Riders, Mads Mikkelsen in The Salvation, and the comedy spaghetti western, My Name is Nobody with Henry Fonda and Terence Hill.
Gonna second Eddie Coyle. I sought it out as a Mitchum fan. I’d compare it to the often forgotten, much later Killing Them Softly by Andrew Dominik (if you haven’t seen this either, check it out. It’s got a stacked cast of great character actors). Both just great crime flicks that focus on the blue collar side of the mob
Predestination is such a banger
Predestination is very interesting to me. Knowing it is a Sony movie, the 4K (if ever release) should look and sound fantastic since the BD is top notch! I have some super nice foreign movies that never made it to HD AFAIK or made it but are simply crap. I strongly suggest them to you if you want to discover other gems : Avalon, Equilibrium, Natural City, Returner.
Lately, I've been in the mood for a damn good animated film-bonus points if it's not an American or Japanese film, since those countries dominate the animation industry. Any recommendations?
Pre-destination is definitely an unsung classic and a very clever film.
Do you know if they're going to make a new Jason movie Friday Friday the 13th
Predestination is talked about a lot!
Jeff, when you did your announcement I was worried. Your description of the future did not match why I had invested time with you. My taste in movies had never matched yours, BUT, you brought so much more to the table with industry news, schedule of releases and most importantly to me review of 4k quality. Example, I bought Casablanca 4k on your say so and LOVE IT. But MAN do I not share your love of off kilter 20th century fare , like at all. I hope I am the minority because if today is the future, I have been left behind.
Mine: - Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia - Bad Day at Black Rock - Body Double - Manhunter - King of New York
Great suggestions. Predestination has always actually been overrated to me. My first time watching it I found it super predictable. A simple way they could’ve made it less predictable is not having Ethan Hawke sing that “I’m my own grandpa” song, but theres many parts of that movie where it seems like they wanted to be subtle but were heavy handed and made the twist obvious
I've seen when evil lurk , it's one of a kind , great movie
Seven Psychopaths is great!
I've never seen Letter Never Sent, looks great, I'll have to check it out, sorta reminds me of Wages Of Fear, another great suspense action thriller if you haven't seen it I've been trying to watch a lot of other films that I've been seeing on underrated lists as well as films that I've wanted to see with low ratings that looked way better then what they've been rated, I watched some films like The Hunted and Bug from William Friedkin along with other films like What Lies Beneath and 8mm, all movies with some rather low ratings, I personally thought they were all really good, great even, not perfect, they do have their flaws but far in away better then the critical mauling the recieved on initial release
Jeff, you mentioned you hadn't seen much Ethan Hawke, but what about Gattaca or the Before Trilogy?
Sarah Snook is fantastic in Predestination.
7 psychopaths is in my top 100
I literally watched Predestination last night before seeing this video.

1979 Wanda Nevada really good gem and 1986 Three O'Clock High great gem as well.
I love When Evil Lurks. Thanks for the video! I have so many Killer Joe Braindead Tora Tora Tora I Saw the Devil Miller’s Crossing
I watched Predestination on Netflix on Sunday. Very awesome story
Eden Lake is greatest most underrated movie oat. Aswell as Mandy & AlteredcStates. & Ronin & The Devils Own. & The Drop. & The 9th gate & The secret window. & Lair of the white worm. & The Hunter.
Small movie for sure. But I keep coming back to The Man From Earth, as it is an amazing gem. Sequel though should have never been made 😂

This is an excellent point. I will do that - thank you!
“Terrified” had a great opening but it kind of became a disjointed mess as the story went on. “When Evil Lurks” was significantly better
Ummm… not one of these movies is underrated 😂😂😂 They were all extremely well received and have large post release fan bases. Maybe Letter Never Sent can be considered under seen… but not underrated. Either way, great list Jeff.
7 psychopaths: “get out of the car” “No” “But I have a shotgun” “I don’t care” “I like you, I hope you make it out of this”
Suicide kings
Where is Children of Men? One of the best and most underrated movies of all time. The world in the movies feels and looks so real, it’s frightening. One of the stupidest reviews I read about the movie was that it was too depressing.
