I´m wondering why in the US they allow open safety bars. Everything there must be somehow safe for everyone, not? Anyway in Austria or Europe if you´re not closing the safety bar, they will stop the lift. Often I see pictures from chairlifts in the US where are anyway no safety bars. These kind of lifts are gone decades ago in EU. I remember one chairlift about 30 years ago. This was the only one I´ve ever seen. Ok, there was a chain for the safety... Again if the lifts are modern, there are more or less no issue with these issues, because the chairs arrive slowly in the station and you can get on and off smootly. Stil I like the Top 5s!

Most of the resorts i ride at dont have safety bars on their lifts. So first time i saw one i was like what the hell is this for. Then the lift behind me had a safety patrol guy in it, he was yelling at me to put my bar down, so i complied unwillingly. Lol. But it did have a foot rest on it so it was kinda nice for long lifts to have some relief from the board on my ankle. Otherwise i dont need them. Funny vid though 👍

Skiers indeed, they go all over the place, cutting you off when you get of the chairlift. Luckily I usually don't go at busy times, so I have more room and less annoying skiers. Today I saw one of those guys with a radio, I rode the next chair. One thing I don't understand is the issue with safety bars you guys seem to have in the U.S.. In Europe it's completely normal and I like to rest my foot on the bar. Also: sitting back in the chairlift is easy, but with more heavy wind (you've seen that video from Austria last year?) or an abrupt stop it is better to have a bar in front of you. Also younger kids usually like to slide down, for which you have to stop the lift, everything takes longer etc. so bar down.

Most of the time it's fine, but I have been in lifts that suddenly stop and dangle a few meters up and down, believe me you want a bar there. Also for kids not sliding down the chair. Wearing jeans or Canada Goose or even worse both at the same time. Saw a group of erm "tourists" all wearing Canada Goose parkas with rental boards in tow. All strapped in and pointed straight down the bunny hill getting as much speed as possible before catching an edge. ALL OF THEM. There were free lessons that week! Nope. Just gonna point it straight down the hill.

0:34 noooooooo, hahahaha. The best part is when the lift get stopped 5 times on one ride up and it's not because of the handicapped riders riding the mt that day but fully equipped human beings. I don't think people realize how much danger is around them at a ski resort

Unless the people getting on the lift with me are my crew I ride with regularly I treat all who get on the lift as a threat to my life 😉 The biggest signs the kooks in the lift line are going to try and take me out are 1. They are a group wearing jeans and 2. No gloves. That never ends well. I either push off and beat them off of the lift or hang back slightly and then navigate the wreckage like a boss 😎
