A light tank is a tank variant initially designed for rapid movements in and out of combat, to outmaneuver heavier tanks. It is smaller in size with thinner armor and a less powerful main gun, tailored for better tactical mobility and ease of transport and logistics. They are primarily employed in the screening, armored reconnaissance, skirmishing, artillery observation, and supplementing landing operations in a fire support role of expeditionary forces where larger, heavier tanks are unavailable or have difficulties operating safely or efficiently.
Early light tank designs were generally better armed and armored than armored cars, but used tracks in order to provide better cross-country mobility. The light tank has been one of the few tank variants to survive the development of the main battle tank-in which technological advancements have rendered all previous weight variants obsolete-and has seen use in a variety of roles including the support of light airborne or amphibious forces and reconnaissance. Modified IFVs are assuming these roles in many militaries due to their immediate availability, and as a cheaper versatile alternative to developing and fielding a pure light tank.

I love the Lynx 120! It’s very versatile and can be configured for the specific needs of the end user. It is impressive!
Noticeably missing is Sweden's CV90-105, an exceptional light tank which mounts a 105mm gun on the battlefield tested CV90 chassis. Also missing is the Cadillac Gage Stingray of Thailand. The Stingray was designed to be the best light tank in the world during the time that the US Army wasn't interested in light tanks. The Stingray is still considered the best in its class. I question adding the Griffon to the list, especially at number one since it hasn't even been put into production. Remember, Germany's Puma was considered the best IFV ever built... until it had to roll out of the motor pool

Ascod 2 are the only tank that has the best defence system i think its called "iron fist" and ascod are fully customized just for the Philippines with help of esrael and africa turrent manufacture...

The thing i like the most is that most modern light tanks and wheeled vehicles is that they have (i think it is) pointy or just normal spaced armor sticking out in the front, like the Chinese zbd-05 "amphibious light tank"
The new LYNX 120 and the other german Tank, the so called "Chain-BOXER" (Ketten-BOXER/normally, the BOXER is a Wheel tank), also with the 120mm Rheinmetall L44 (same as Leopard 2 A4) are also very, very interessting light tanks because they use a chassis which is modular changeable. The BOXER only use moduls and the LYNX another turret. The advantage is, that you need not so much special vehicles only a basic Chassis (LYNX oder BOXER) and the modul for different tasks. The classic tank, which is only build for one task is the past... the future will be the high flexible tank-systems.
Sabrah is an Austro Spanish Cooperative in Defence, ASCOD (so it is General Dynamics Europe), tank, with Israeli tech, 4 the Philipines.

Remember that ASCOD base vehicle is from Spain. From Israel is the tower. The Sabrah is a good MMBT.

I agree. The CV90/120 should be given a chance. They are as good as any light tank featured here. And it comes from a family of IFVs that's used by more than a dozen countries.
Currently Bangladesh is using type 15 aka vt5.
I feel that the 530c should be included in this list
Pft! K21 should be higher than the Chinese/Russian sardine cans. The latter probably don't have composite armors, most especially Type 15 which is mostly dependent on ERA.

The 15TANK frontal armor is equivalent to a homogeneous 400mm. Add reactive armor. In the video, except for the 15TANK, all of them are infantry tanks, not even tanks. KF21 can only defend up to. 50 heavy machine guns.
The Griffin should have been built with fold in atgm launchers for Javelin or Hellfire to complement the 105mm. How is it that 3 out of the five on this list have that capability and the US is still playing catch up? The US Army need to evolve in their thinking for the 21st Century where the use of atgms are a normal or soon to be normal part of the equation via distributed lethality. Btw, the Lynx 120 is the best LT on this list

Because its the Bradley's job to launch ATGMs and not the tanks and as per western doctrine tanks doesn't travel alone they usually have Bradley's and other APCs to support them

I know, but it's a outdated doctrine to a degree, our Cavalry units should be equipped with the MPF as Scouts replacing big brother Abrams in that role the MPF would be a better platform for the scout role because of a smaller footprint than the M1, the ability to launch atgm's will only enhance its role and build on the Army’s new distributed lethality doctrine that it's building on. The M1X will have that capability for the same reason mentioned, that will only give our armored forces to include the OMV (Optional Manned Vehicle)candidate which will be adding the 50mm plus atgm package a more lethal edge over their peers.

I didn't mean that is faster when it comes to racing performance or whatever.. being lighter + with good engines.. and having better maneuverability.. is considered called faster... it's just simple math and science bro.. but it still depends on what kind of engines.. the manufacturers they're going to install on them... they put powerful engines on the MBTs because of their heavyweight right??? just what I said it's just simple Math and Science..

The Blogger is Filipino thus it includes the sub standard Sabrah resulting from the intermediary works of refurbishing subcontractor Elbit that made the Phased out M60 MBT of Israel and Turkey extended service with M60 Magach and Sabrah kits. In Sabrah ASCOD that look so tall is a nice for Amateurs only who ignorantly don't know about tanks technically -- large or tall tanks are easy targets in battlefield.

Pay attention...Tanks are easy prey. Evolve or die quickly. A four-wheel-drive pickup truck with two guys shooting Javelin ATGM out of the back would be much more effective than a light tank and would cost almost nothing. You could add a 50 cal machine gun, a 22 mm anti-tank rifle, an 82 mm mortar, a 105 mm recoilless rifle, or a grenade launcher to go with those ATGMs. A pickup could blend into the background and (if detected) flee at speeds of 180 kph while deploying smoke. Drones are not that fast. Tell me.. how many pickups can you fit on a C5 ? You could probably haul 30+ pickups if you stack them three high. You could tow some nice weapons behind those pickups. A bigger mortar? A small high velocity 52 mm rifled gun. The future of war is not tanks and traditional weapons slugging it out on a battlefield. It's conventional vehicles dodging drones and infantry with advanced information tech taking the other guy's operators out. Stop wasting our money building stuff you wish you had in WW2.

And where is the CV90 Ghost?! The, hands down, most advanced light tank/IFV in existense. Beside it's 120mm gun, possibility for 2×2 SPIKE ATGM missiles and active camouflage that enable it to simulate a small car, MC or any other objekt at dawn or night and trick any enemy IR/NV sights, travel at extremely low noise at high speeds. To leave this out of this list tells about the limited knowledge of the one putting this list together. Sad for the channel owner, and a slap on the finger on them. For more serious users, google about this, look a bit further and you'll find more comprehensive lists about these kinds of vehicles.
