Ironically it had less breakdowns than the competition in the 2017 comparison trials in the Czech Republic. It also _destroyed_ the competition while it was at it.

As an American I think the CV90 is still on top. The Germans build great weapons but I still think the CV90 edges everyone out.

The CV90 is made to defend, provide and to attack, over the last decades. So you are definitely right. None of the "competitors" can handle terrain like it can do.

@@juryfilatov4520 Most powerful weapons and the worst optronics which severely limit the use of these weapons. Gun is no good when you can't see the target, or better, if the target saw you sooner and killed you before you noticed anything. Russian thermals are 20+ years behind the west. The T-90M literally uses French THALES Catherine FC thermal imagers imported before the war.

Wow, some of the best IFV's are not on this list. The Borsuk (Polish), the Namer (Israeli), and the Guarani (Brazilian). The Borsuk is the best designed IFV to use for waterborne assaults, the Namer has the best armor and defense, and the Guarani is cheap while being very versatile and has many different variants that can easily be changed out. I would take any one of those over the BMP-3 on this list.

The vehicles you’ve listed are better in a strategic case because of their amphibious capabilities or low cost. I agree that in overall usefulness a couple of your choices should’ve been used but the video doesn’t consider all aspects of fighting

The Guarani is an APC in its original configuration (VBTB).....but many versions have modular armor, and a much bigger weapon....and they are considered IFV's (VBCI, and VBC MR).@@Stephenwonderboy

Possible yes, necessary, no. IFVs main purpose is to fight Infantry so the main armaments is usally optimized against dismounted targets. If they run into MBTs they have ATGMs.

AFV stands for armored fighting vehicle and means basically any armored military vehicle including MBTs, IFVs and APCs. IFV stands for infantry fighting vehicle a class of vehicle armed with a medium caliber autocannon and a dismount compartment in the back.

the Hunter Mk2 armoured IFV could do with a 5.0 in. coil spring based suspension lift for additional clearance & better off-roadability . . . it'll greatly complement the torsion bar suspension of the Hunter Mk2 . . . should feature a heightened hull that'll give the crew/troop compartment some much needed space, freedom of movement . . . a remotely operated 0.50 Cal HMG (accessible through the commander/gunner's hatch on top of the turret) mounted on top of the 360° deg rotating turret . . .

EBRC translates to Armored Reconnaissance and Combat Vehicle, so not an IFV.

BMP 3 shouldn't be on this list, everything ranked worse has both a commander and Gunnar thermal site and meanwhile The BMP 3 I'm pretty sure doesn't have any Thermals, maybe an BMP-3M or something but that's not what's listed...

depends on the MBT they're facing, at which point and angle the ifv is aiming and hitting them and also what kind of active/passive protection systems are on the MBT. But generally speaking, you can assume that most MBT have a vulnerable point against 20-30 mm machine guns because of the number of bursts that can hit the same place

Are you kidding me. It's funny that Kurganets 25, which didn't mass-produce and didn't have a real deployment, even though the BMP3 that exploded excited in Ukraine, is it funny that it makes sense that the No. 1 is only Puma IFV, which is expensive because it's full of flaws? Currently, CV90 ranks first in all of the mass production, variations, export, performance, and actual evaluation.

Funny. The CV90 not meeting requirements is one of the reasons the Puma exists in the first place. The German Army trialed the CV90 in 2002, rejecting it because it didn't meet the required ballistic and mine protection aswell as growth requirements. They concluded there was no IFV on the market at that time that would meet their requirements, so they had to develop one on their own, the Puma.

They decided for the CV90 solely for the fact that the CV90 was avaliable with a 35 mm autocannon, and the developers of the Puma were going for a 30 mm. The dutch wanting a 35 mm gun was based on the odd requirement to destroy all optics of a T-80U MBT in a single 3 round salvo. For that exact purpose Rheinmetall developed a version of the 35 mm AHEAD airburst round with more, but smaller tungsten subprojectiles than the 35 mm AHEAD used before (407 x 1.24 g instead of 152 x 3.3 g). However in later testing just 2 normal 152 x 3.3 g pellet AHEAD rounds managed to do just the same. Pumas armament on the other hand was optimized for the anti-infantry role, chosing the 30 mm over the 35 mm to double the amount of ready ammunition. (A CV9035 has a total of 203 rounds of 35 mm stored, a Puma has 400 rounds of 30 mm, of which 200 are ready to fire). Puma was also confirmed to outperform all other contenders in every metric in the czech trials, but in the end it was deemed too expensive. It was probably the same for the Netherlands, since implementing a 35 mm on the Puma would've been an easy task.

@@jonny2954 I agree that the puma is generally better than the CV90 with protection for their crew, but becuase of that its weight is also increased greatly which brings us up to mobility that is the greatest strenght of a IFV. CV90 outshines basicly all opponents in that area.

Namer is a APC. There is a IFV version but that one wasn't adopted.

@@jonny2954 actually there is no much difference left now as IFV and APC...both are same. And mostly APC are Wheeled and IFV's are tracked and while Namer is also Tracked it's a combo of both..and deserves to be on top of this list.

@@rajatdani619 Wheeled and tracked does not make the difference between IFV and APC. Armament does. The Namer in Israeli service is only equipped with a RWS with a HMG for self defence, IFVs are equipped with autocannon turrets and actively take part in the operation. There was a Namer prototype with a 30 mm turret, but it wasn't adopted by the IDF. The Namer APC was actually compared to the Puma, the proposed GCV and the Bradley IFV in an evaluation by the US CBO. Puma came out on top.

@John Grigg M113s are fighting in the Ukrainian war. And in the Gulf War there were BMP-1 and BMP-2. And if you shoot Bradley with an ATGM, then he is unlikely to remain intact. So don't bullshit. NATO weapons have never taken part in a real war.

The has no business being there.its just an APC. Why is the T-15 armata not included

Every list is so lazy, it is like the same list all over. The lynx and the puma are just IFV that doesn't know what it is suppose to be doing. People just think it is best because it has overly thick armor and a strong engine (Which it needs because it is so heavy). Have fun driving that one in mud.

"doesn't know what it is suppose to be doing" The Germans invented the IFV concept lol. If anyone they are the ones who know what they're doing. The vehicles is so heavily armored because it isn't used as a battle taxi alone like with most other nations but actually closely support the dismounted elements in theater instead of sitting back for support. That requires higher survivability. For mud, people need to realise weight isn't the deciding factor. Ground pressure is. A Leopard 2A5 actually has a lower ground pressure than a T-90 because it isn't just heavier but also much longer and has a larger ground contact area. Now compare the length and track width of a Puma and BMP-3, same thing. Puma actually outpaces Leopards, Abrams, Bradleys and CV90s even in heavy terrain.

@@jonny2954 Give me a break, they did not invent the IFV. They may have had similar ideas, but the modern concept of and IFV and how it is used comes from the Soviet Union. The IFV is not a tank. It is not suppose to tank anti tank rounds. It is suppose to be mobile, be able to carry troops directly to the frontline and have a turret that can give supportive fire to the men. If it stays in the same positions long enough to be hit then you are using it wrong. Do you have those specification or are you just making assumptions about the surface area of the part of the tracks that touches the ground? I guess if you are 3.6 m tall you need to protect your self, being a target and all.

@@MegaBanne The modern IFV was invented in West Germany. The HS-30 is considered the first true IFV and entered service 1960. The BMP-1 entered service in 1966. "If it stays in the same positions long enough to be hit then you are using it wrong." Fatal mindset. Mobility is just one of many aspects that contribute to a vehicles survivability. Mobility only goes so far. You can not outrun a drone and you can not outrun a mine or IED. These also do not care about how tall a vehicle is. Even the Russians acknowledged, although very late, and started development on heavier armored IFVs like the T-15 based on the Armata hull (both larger and heavier than the Puma). Leopard 2A5: 0,83 kg/cm³ T-90S: 0,87 kg/cm³ Also the Puma is not 3.6 m tall. That's the measurement on top of the MUSS IR-Jammer on top of the commanders periscope on top of the turret. The turret roof is at 3.10 m, the hull roof at 2.20 m.

Every modern IFV can tank anti personnel mines, and equivalent IEDs. I wouldn't inspire anything based on Russian design. They still think it is a good design choice to put all the ammunition right under the turret. The Germans are better at this stuff than the Russians, just think they are lacking when it comes to IFVs. I know about how the kg/cm³ stats for the Leopard is better than the T90. I am not talking about Leopards. Leopards are great. Possibly one of the best tank series in existence. Almost half a meter (39 cm) taller is still a lot. Not to mention the dimensions of the hull and the turret.

Its sensor suite does not differ from any other contemporary IFV which is not suited to defend against UAV's. It doesen't have radar, only the air defense version has which is not an IFV. The IFV version gun elevation and depression is between −8° to +27° which is also not practical for engaging aerial threats. It's even worse than a Puma with −10° to +45°. "Every modern IFV can tank anti personnel mines, and equivalent IEDs." Anti-personnel mines? A jeep can take anti-personnel mines. The problem are anti-vehicle mines. You know, the kind of mine that is in the ground in the 100,000s in Southern Ukraine right now. Also no to the IED, on 7 August 2010, a Danish CV9035DK ran on a IED in Afghanistan killing two soldiers inside. Also mines aren't just from underneath. Look at the TM-83 as example or the PTKM-1R, firing at the sides or roof respectively. Battle-taxi levels of armor on IFVs just don't cut it anymore.

Half of these in the video are not important at all. New Turkish IFVs are way better than most ones in this video. American Bradley even hasn't an unmanned turret, and it gets 3. place? Seriously? I won't even talk about BMP 3. it's nonsense to not mention any of Turkish military vehicles here.
