TOP 5 Knots You Should Know: Beginner's Guide to Fishing
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I show you my top five fishing knots that I use most often. I go through step-by-step to show you how to tie these knots and the situations that each knot is best in. Whether you're a beginner or you've been fishing your whole life, knowing these knots is crucial for catching more fish. Four of these knots are used to tie line to a hook or swivel, while the fifth knot is used to tie mainline to leader material.
1. Improved Clinch Knot - 0:51
2. Uni Knot - 2:23
3. Loop Knot - 3:45
4. Snell Knot - 5:34
5. Double Uni Knot - 7:27

I used to fish in my teens all the time but just started back after almost 15 years of not going . I definitely needed this video !
This guy is smooth no wasted talk.
I love using the improved clinch knot. Never lets me down.
Really great abrasion resistance and though I've never put the Big Game line kzread.infoUgkxQ4x31pJVpClzhxzNFeILZYTW7Xbs7ZIF (any poundage) through an official test it always seems to break well above rated poundage. This line stretches a very good amount before it breaks and does well in saltwater too. Not the best line for a spinning reel in my opinion, especially if you're planning on using it for lures only due to it having a bit of memory but still a great line whether filling a spool, using as top shot or strictly for leader line. I've bought a bunch of Big game line in the past and plan on continuing to do so in the future.
I'm with ya, Brent. Our weather has sucked yesterday and today....Supposed to return to normal this weekend. As always, good video.
I’ve fished only twice in my life with somebody else and I would like to learn to do it by my self. This video is gold in my hands. Thank you. You definitely got another subscriber.
This was solid
Very helpful video - added to favorites to come back and watch again!
Best video I have ever seen about these knots..for real! Really appreciate it!
this guy is a pro. he explains what he is doing very professionally.
love it thanks for the tips. i will be using it in 2 wks when i go fishing in the connecticut river catching walleye.
This is exactly what I needed and you did it so simply that I could understand it. Thank you my man!!
Thanks soo much. I am fishing all my life but mastered the rt of knot making. I tried the Uni Knot and it's great.
Good idea turning the hook on the improved clinch. Been looping the line around and around with my fingers all these years!

Same here, I fish ultra light 4 lb. test, 2 lb. leader with #12 hooks. Tying that clear thin line with 69 year old eyes can be a challenge.

Yeah easy to see it with that giant hook and that line he is using. Almost impossible with bad eyes to see that loop .

Yes, turning the hook is very efficient. With ganged trebles like on a hard jerkbait, especially one with quality 'sticky sharp' trebles, the fingers method is much safer.
Thanks for this video! It's helping me! I really appreciate it!
Easy and simple 👌 thank you broski
Awesome video thanks for sharing!!

Been watching your videos for about a year now- my favorite channel on youtube! Is that a big green egg on your porch? You should totally make a video cooking some caught filets on that thing.
Good well present vid: thanks helped me a lot,

Dude thanks mate. Practice makes perfect. 🍻Cheers Dude! 🎣
Str8 to the point , good video 💯
I teach fishing knots to the Boy Scouts for their fishing merit badge , we use all these plus the Palomar knot , which I like . I always get a sense of accomplishment when I tie the Uni to Uni . Nice videos , Thanks !

There's nothing wrong with a Palomar- in fact, it's stronger than a clinch. The only reason not to use it more frequently is the looping it over a large bait. I ALWAYS prefer and use a Palomar knot, if I can.

Thanks for the video. I Need to try some new knots, failing eye sight is causing me to miss-tie knots these days.
Thank you so much for this video. I am not a fisherman, but I do a lot of craft work and other things whereby I need a really strong easy knot, and you nailed it.
Good video thanks Ever heard of rain gear? Follow the barometer. Rain or not fishing is an all-time sport.
I am Aussie thanks mate, love your tips and a great finger guard, I have trouble with sore fingers, can you buy them from tackle shops haven’t seen them, only in chemistry’s. Cheers
Tanks broo
Thank you
That first knot helped me a lot, I don't have four years of college.
Nice
Can’t go wrong with a Uni Knot
mantap bos 👍
Hmmm, that loop knot use a two overhand knots. I'm pretty sure if we made the second knot a clinch or improvised clinch knot might improved knot strength 30 - 50%.
I am so glad I found your channel. I would argue it is the most friendly to newbies. I can't even call myself a newbie, I haven't even gotten started yet but I LOVE the ocean and I want to fish to spend more time with it. :)
In Alaska with Sockeye I love the loop knot with a circle hook for flossing. It really helps position the hook for it to turn as it hooks in.
Can u use these knots for lures too? Right?
@SeeYaDude

Yes!
(Improved clinch) so you gave the knot I invented a name very interesting
Qué hombre tan lindo❤
Keep it up, and. Your videos will go far!
This is knot the best video ever. JK it definitely is the best instructional video! Knot! JK again.
Thanks this is a great video for a beginner like me. Using the big hook and line made the tutorial extremely helpful. You explained all knots and instructions really well and easy to follow. I will be following your channel..
Great video Brent very informative also it didn't take very long to jump up a grand in subscribers congrats!

Can i use these for saltwater fishing as well im not new to fishing but i have a bunch of loose hooks with no strings and now i know how to use them but what do you say about salt water fishing
@SeeYaDude
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I primarily go saltwater fishing and these are the knots that I use all the time
I found the double uni won’t grab if the leader line is thick ! Am I doing something wrong ?
@SeeYaDude
4 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend doing a couple extra loops with your braid then, so like 4/5 turns with the leader and like 6/7 turns with the braid. See if that helps
@jawjuh1005
4 жыл бұрын
I do 3 and 7 every time, no issues. the braid needs more wraps.
Is the uni knot strong enough for most saltwater fish such as reds and snook. Or do you recommend a stronger knot.
@SeeYaDude
4 жыл бұрын
I can speak from experience that it is. It's what I tie 90% of the time for everything from trout to tarpon

How many fish have you lost because of a Uni?
Just wondering, are these knots for fresh and seawater?
@Tommyluu809
26 күн бұрын
You can use it for anything
On you number 4 the mine line you showed the mainline going back through the eye of the hook and then you pull it up tight if I’m not mistaken you could not do that if you had your main line going back to your rod it would be going to your eye hook
You ever been trout or redfish fishing in louisiana?
@SeeYaDude
5 жыл бұрын
No I haven't, but Louisiana is definitely a place I want to go fish! Especially for the big bull reds and offshore for tuna
@jakesoutdoors7476
5 жыл бұрын
Trust me its amazing for the bull reds im actually goijg to grand isle sunday to try to get on some from the pier. And some monster speckled trout
the only knot that surprised me a little was the loop knot. that knot holds okay to what pound test? that's what you use for tarpon etc as well as reds, and trout? That looked really easy.
@SeeYaDude
4 жыл бұрын
I've used that loop knot on 40lb leader before, but now I use uni knots nearly all the time for everything inshore
Captain Knots
I use the double uni knot to tie tapered leaders for fly fishing. Far easier to tie than a blood knot. I have no idea why anyone continues to use the blood know.
well presented mate! You have shown us novices how to tie a fishing knot in simple forms!Well done for us inexperienced people!
Surprised that the FG knot was not on this list and your primary used for braid to leader?
@jawjuh1005
4 жыл бұрын
I know a lot of people are fixated on this knot but I want knots fast and easy to tie and strong. Do Not Need 100% knot unless you don't plan to use the drag on your reel. The exception is if you plan to use a long wind on leader and you need something to pass through the guides of the rod. I never take my braid/leader knot through the guides.
Or just use the loop knot for lures and the uni knot for everything else. A uni knot is heaps easier to tie than the traditional snell on a hook shank.
Always remember to wet your line your monofilament line will create friction heat and make it weak .if it's not wet before you pull not
