I agree I may try a couple of these but the improved one has never failed me from the knot. only times it did was me not keeping it wet or using wrong size line for what i was doing. I have broke a catfish hook before breaking the knot, straightened a bass hook, and broke the top section of my pole and had to cut the line because the knot would not break. so if these other knots are stronger then i better break trees down and shatter rocks then lol

The trilene knot is just so awesome I'm surprised it's not more famous. The skipper of my fishing boat taught it to me as a deckie over 25 years ago and I've been using it ever since. It's just so quick and easy to tie it, and never slips. I've even tested it myself and it definitely holds more weight than any other. Try it and see. It's just a simple clinch knot but you start it with a double pass rather than just a single.

Trilene knot is very strong when tested. However, it has a tendency to unravel for no reasons. I lost quite a few lures because of it. Maybe I did not have enough wrap (5 times). I since moved to Uniknot, which does not test as strong. However, it is more reliable in real life.

Very clever video debo. I hate to admit, when I tie flouro or mono, I still will tie the improved clinche knot every single time. For braid, I hate wasting so much line with a Palomar knot, so last year I switched up to a double uni knot. Basically the same idea of doubling the line. So far it has been rock solid for me and it's easier then some of the others.

Been using the palomar knot for the longest time, but for the last couple years or so, have used the orvis knot. Still use the palomar knot for rigging dropshot. Love how you keep it real in your videos- snags, lost lures and dinks (of course)! Keep up the good work. Thanks for taking the time to share.

My man coming in with the training videos. Going to watch and see what you like. Done, never seen your first knot before that’s really cool. I switch between the Palomar and the Uni knot. Unit knot has become my favorite, it’s also a great knot for tying leader to main, called a double Uni Knot.

I connect my braid to my leader, usually fluorocarbon, with the double uni knot. For monofilament and fluorocarbon to lures I use ONLY the Trilene knot. I don't ever tie braid straight to my lures, but I've always been told the palomar knot is the only knot that won't slip with braid.

Great video! I'm similar and, unless I'm rigging something special like a snell hook, I really only use 2 knots: the trilene knot for mono and fluoro, and the palomar knot for braid. I know people still like to use clinch knots and improved clinch knots, but there's really no reason not to switch from either of those to a trilene knot that I can think of, for the reasons you mentioned. In fact, from what I can recall, the trilene knot was itself specifically developed in order to replace the improved clinch knot.

I’ve been using the Trilene knot for many years. Between it and the RP knot for my leaders, it’s all I need. I really like the Palomar knot but I lose a lot of my leader each time I re-tie. So I use for braid only purposes. Some people make this more complicated than it needs to be. As you said, practice. Practice a couple and master them. You’re good to go.

Interesting that your video came out at this time. What I mean is a friend just told me about the Gerald Swindle Double Shindo knot. Among the Trilene and Palomar knot I use the Improved Clinch knot but I double it going through the eyelet similar to the Trilene. So with that said what I am not a fan of with the Double Shindo knot is the 3 tags. I did tie the San Diego Jam knot but got away from it. Just so many knots. I do use the multifile knoten knot for spinner and buzz baits (weird, I know). Bottom line I tie on a regular basis Double Improved Clinch, Trilene and Palomar knots, and the Snell knot when pitching into cover. Thanks for all your informative videos and tips.
