Price of the cheapest Rivian is the price of the most expensive CyberTruck. Plus it's ALL about the technology... The undisputed champ in that is Tesla. ALSO, Tesla is tried and tested. Rivian, not so much... It's their first attempt that is already more expensive than it's worth before it comes to market!

Steven Murphree Sedan is a different category than a truck I don’t think you understand what you can buy with $125,000 truck. Because as a truck guy I’m not buying electric lmao. But I guess we can see what an electric can do vs a dually diesal. I can keep an open mind but if the range is not as far for pulling a camper which duallies are usually for then it’s pretty much useless for a truck being electric. can’t compare a car to a truck

I don't use my truck for towing often, but I like to have the capability. I have a bass boat that weighs only 2100 lbs and during the spring and summer I go fishing about 3-5 times a week. I need a truck that can do 1/2 pickup stuff. I don't usually haul all day 300+ miles in fact I rarely drive over 30 miles a day. I have about 174k miles on my 2004 f150. I bought it in 06 with only 22k miles on it and it has been my primary vehicle ever since. I have heard of some people putting 20K+ miles on a car/truck a year! That is insane to me unless you drive for a living. I've had my truck for 13 years and yes one day I will have to get a new one. But as my dad always said, if it's not broke don't fix it. I am very interested in electric pickups but I want charging infrastructure to develop a little better before I do make the switch.

And so Very aerodynamic, that big box shape will depress range by 50%, very old school. Anyone can boast 400 mile range on paper, but have any actually tested and met those predictions? They are hopping that people will simply believe they are getting 400 miles and will not care that the Real range is only 200 and dropping, but people will care and they know that Tesla has already proven their claims. Their are dozens of Chinese battery makers sell ing to GM, Ford , Porch, etc and the evidence is showing the milage estaments are only 2/3 of what the promise when brand new and drop more every few months but 10 year old Tesla have 500,000 miles and still going strong. So the question is is it a good plan to buy a EV that will only last 2 or 3 years before it turns into scrap metal ? If the competition were selling at half the price of Tesla it still would be a bad value. Someday in 5 or more years some one may be able to prove that they are 50% as good as tesla, but don't hold your breath.

that kind of thinking doesn't hold water in this new EV arena. electric Motor technology has been around now for over 150 years, Battery technology is leaping forward fast due to demand, and computer control tech is still playing catch up. it really has very little to do with the people bringing all these separate technologies together to make the cars. People have been building great EVs in their garages now for 50 years. there just hasn't been any public demand for them until recently.

The value proposition simply isn't there, at least not what I've seen so far. I'm sure many will purchase a Ford just because it's a familiar old name but if their new E-Mustang is any gauge they won't offer close to the same range and spec.s as Tesla per dollar.

Lordsstown will likely be in a good position to take advantage of their GM connections to get those new batteries in the future. The Rivian is the conventional aesthetically low-risk choice. Really delve deep into your thinking, as to what is the true purpose of a light truck / Ute? (**As Elon says, just like any engineering project, "Let's go back to first principles?") Also, ask what operationally do you need it for? I think your choice may change when you investigate deeply.

Arthur Frilingos, buying a vehicle is a reflection of the intersection of needs and desires. By my assessment the Tesla looks like garbage, therefor it fails to meet 50% of the requirement. It’s a truck for fanboys. And that’s okay, to each their own. The Ford F-150 is handsome but dated in styling as it barely looks much different than the standard f150. It’s been 3 days since I watched this video and I already forgot what the other two trucks that are not a Rivian actually look like. One of them originally caught my eye.... but apparently didn’t stick. Then there’s the Rivian. A truck that would theoretically meet my needs and desires. Storage capabilities for my tools that are out of site, out of mind, and being in Seattle, out of the rain. The towing capacity would easily handle towing a car to the race track, picking up a project while still appearing clean, non gimmicky and well... Ford and Amazon have invested heavily in the vehicle. Tech capabilities of Amazon with over 100 years of manufacturing automobiles from Ford combining sounds like a recipe for sustainable success. I’ve shared my perspective, I don’t need you to agree with me and that’s all there is to say about that. Happy New Year, have good one! ✌🏻

For the last 5 or 6 years we have been bombed by barrage of new electric car models offered by different manufacturers. most of these models were threatening to be "Tesla Killers". But with all their advertising launching belligerent promises, one after another turned up to be a selling flop. The last disappointment has been none the less than mighty Porsche with an EPA of 201 miles autonomy, which in real terms driving it hard like a Porsche should, the max one can expect is to squeeze out of it just 140 miles, which without super charging stations, it cannot venture out in a long drive ever. But the crude truth of the matter is a fact that each of those models were built on ICE chassis, or by ICE car engineers. Being told to build electric cars instead. Hence the very disappointing results of falling short in general performance even to Tesla earlier models of 12 years ago, which was to be realistically expected. But the miserable overall performance of Tesla competitors is the fact that none of them has a visionary genius like Elon Musk leading the painstaking complicated projects of building out from scratch those car marvels. Therefore I am convinced that it will require decennials before any of the blazoned traditional manufacturers will be able to come up with a vehicle that will closely compete in the market with Tesla. But even if they were to be able in reality to come up with a true "Tesla Killer" still it will never come close to Tesla entire unique futuristic program, of inter connectivity, world wide charging station network. its ability to full self driving program potential, and its instantaneous up to date technical support improvements, along with many other freebies, that will make a Tesla always far more desirable. As Tesla grows in leaps and bounds without let up, the least desirable CEO job in the next few years would be that of an ICE car manufacturer even the biggest one with a deadly dilemma. Chuck everything out and start anew, or die for insolvency.

Will they be able to come up with batteries and electric motors to match Tesla? The last but the most daunting problem they will have to surmount is: Will they be able to fly to the planet from where Elon Musk came and back in time to bring the right scientist to perform the task to build finally a credible competitor to Tesla Cybertruck?

@ Tim Fitzpatrick, It meant, where are going to dig up a truly dedicated genius like Elon Musk to be able to match or better Tesla Cyber truck ? I mean Stainless steel body, is just a little detail of how Elon Musk thinks, way ahead of anybody else. Are you aware that the last time the entire car industry come up with a truly fundamental improvement in the Internal combustion engine, besides the Governments mandated anti pollution system, was almost 50 years ago. When the Saginaw division of GM invented the electronic ignition system, which instantly got rid of at least 50% of the problems related to the proper firing and smooth running of the Internal Combustion Engine. Until Elon Musk appeared on the scene, and turned the car industry up side down, and in a few years he is now planning his production to accommodate batteries with a 600 miles range, and the entire working life expectancy of a million miles. I could go on and on, but what is the point the evident worldwide craving for Tesla cars, explain its unmatched excellency.
