I was think that too when I seen all those sanitary napkins, adult diapers or nappies as some countries call them. It is surely a health risk and even more so that most had probably been there for years. Toxic molds and bacteria grows on them.

Dorothy's story was so painful to me. In the US we all live so far away from our families. I talked to my mother almost everyday for about an hour. I never could have imagined she was developing rapidly worsening dementia. She always told me she was great, she was getting her meals (in the US we have a program called Meals on Wheels that deliver meals to the elderly with mobility issues), she didn't have any errands to run (we had a list), and she was drinking water and everything else. I hadn't been to her house, 3 hours away, in seven months. It was wrecked, she was dehydrated, and all the packages for her meals were rotting on the floor. I won't get into it further but I have been CRUSHED by the guilt for nearly two years now. I moved her in with me until she started breaking out and wandering. I had to put her in assisted living and I go at least once a week. It's hard to imagine that it could get so bad so quickly.

If your mother sounded fine over the phone and the only way you could see her other than holidays was to pay $400+ for a cab or a four hour bus ride you wouldn't be able to check on her often either. so sorry to hear this, wish you and your mother all the best! i can’t imagine how heartbreaking it must be, hopefully she feels better now. no need to feel guilty, it’s not your fault, and you managed to prevent it from getting worse. it’s extremely frustrating and hard to see how your parents’ health gets worse, and all these mental issues that are caused by aging are something no one can do anything about. wish you all the best!

I watched a program on youtube a while ago. These people who were really OCD and went to other people's place to help them to clean them up. One lady used to use bleach on everything. I honestly don't know how anyone can breathe all those toxic chemical fumes without choking. I lived in a a house where the previous tenant used to bleach on the carpet before we moved in. I have asthma and ended up in the hospital on antibiotics and several other medications to help to recover from what that bleach did to me. It was so overpowering. Even though my father and I used to clash, he lived with me and my husband for 18 years and I was there at the end when he finally succumbed to health problems. I'm grateful for you showing me this video because even though we didn't get along all that well, I'm glad I was there to help him. I think I would have felt very guilty if I had not been there to look after him if he was left on his own. This is a very common problem with older people who have lost their partners in life and the kids don't visit them through either neglect or living a long way away. Smanatha's story. She definitely has mental issues. Just goes to show that you should never take anyone's word for it. You need both sides of a story before you can make your assessment of the situation. I'm glad the single father now has a smell free home. Imagine having to live over that mess of an apartment. The last story. She must have been away a really long time for it to get into that state. It takes a while for it to build up to such a mess I'm thinking. So yes, I do think like you, she made the mess herself and was too ashamed to admit it. I think I would be too ashamed to own up to that mess as well to be honest so I don't really blame her at all.

We should all be grateful for people like you who take the tough jobs by the horns and tame them ❤ It makes my heart sad that these people have been so controlled by their illness/conditions. I hope if someone in my life falls into this situation I can help them like you have done for so many ❤ God bless you for this ❤

There a moments I feel a mask and more protective equipment might be needed to protect yourself. Some things are biohazardous and could be dangerous to touch or breathe in.

Poor Dorothy... her story reminds me of my late aunt who was also named Dorothy, and was a heavy smoker who lived alone and collected a lot of papers in her house. If she hadn't had family visiting her every week, this could absolutely have been her! I also feel for the people who may be too embarassed to look another person in the eye and admit, "yes, I made this mess myself". As you said, however the mess got there, now it is gone, and that person can enjoy a clean and safe place to live! Thank you so much for all of your kind work.

Based on what she said about her neighbours and neighbourhood etc., I think she may be paranoid schizophrenic or something like that. I dont think this is just lying, there is something mental about that house's condition.

@@Tavuskusu156 not everyone who lives like this is mentally ill. Some people are just lazy. I’ve seen all of Auri’s videos and hers is the only one where I think it’s laziness. But, of course I could be wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@GemKeno That's right. But the fact that she described her neighbours as dangerous substance users and schizophrenic people sounds paranoid to me. After all, what is the reason for that lie? You may lie about your own life and house (due to embarrassment) but why would she describe her neighbours like that, because her neighbours are completely innocent people in reality. This illogical fear of people around her is an example of persecutory delusion, in my opinion.
