    Hi masud , love the videos :) Wanted to ask , how physical is being a physio ? , for instance lifting , moving people, items ... day to day ...

  • @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689

    @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689

    Hey Gary, thank you, good question. It is quite physical - I try to be as hands off as possible in MsK as my aim is to empower patients to take control of their own well being through advice and exercise prescription but i may assess patients sometimes and mobilise their spine which requires strength from me. I may assess their ROM which may require me to move their arm or leg in a direction but again I can do most of this hands off and observation of the patient completing the movement. I am on my feet quite often but switching from seated positions to standing after each patient I see. In MsK it’s quite fast paced and there is a lot of movement but not necessarily involving the patient. In other areas of physio you may be working with the elderly or people who need help walking or standing and you need to be strong enough to support them should they need help without hurting yourself. Having said that, I wouldn’t compare it to a job in a warehouse or in construction so not that physical but it helps to be physically fit rather than not.

Lifting patients up for instance in a hospital Lindt upper torso up to sit up in bed to work on their problem.. if that ever comes into play into your day

    What do you think about going into a junior rotational vs straight into a position?

  • @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689

    @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689

    5 жыл бұрын

    I think that doing rotations may not be right for everyone especially if you already know the area you want to be in.. But it is what is advised by nearly every lecturer/educator so you can build a good foundation of skills. ..in my opinion if it doesn't feel right (particular area/specialism) no need to torture yourself. Give it a go, see what you feel like and then take it from there :)

    Hi Masud and thank you for sharing your knowledge. I discovered your channel because of my english university teacher (I live in Spain) what it means you're doing great things. But I have to say that I'm disagree with you about trying to have better qualifications. Because here in Spain if you don't have good qualifications you only might be able to get private masters and for a lot of people is difficult to afford it. Good luck on your projects. Guillem

If you require any more help ask a member of staff at your institution or feel free to reply to this comment and I will send you more.

    I have no doubt it is because it allows you to become a qualified physio. As far as if it is the right one for YOU..well you have to decide. And, just wanted to say don't rely on just rankings..because they usually aren't always right. Go smash it honey 🍯

  • @ktxoxo183

    I understand this is quite a personal and invasive question and I will understand if you don’t want to answer, but just roughly what is the pay like for physiotherapy? Are you very well off, average or struggle to pay for certain things?

  • @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689

    @masudsaeediphysiotherapy8689

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hey, thanks for commenting. It kinda depends on a few variables..if you're on your own single and living with your mum at home..salary is not too shabby. On the other hand if you've got a family to support its quite average. Money..let's put it this way.. you won't see a physio driving a Jaguar ..more like a vauxhall corsa..which is quite sad when you think about how much you have to work academically and when qualifying to become a physio (good one). Hope that helps and didn't put you off lol.
