Merry Christmas, mate! Mage Knight is one of few titles that intimidated me, but once I learned it (during Covid's heydey of 2020), it's in my Top 25 of all games or Top 10 solo games. Twilight Imperium is one, like you, that we get to the gaming table only a few times per year. I did develop a quick start for players called Future Advances which cuts out about 2-3 hours of gameplay from the rather boring beginning, resolving a series of builds and moves in about 15 min. For Kemet, this is one that after my first game, I was fortunate to have jumped on the Matagot crowdfunding campaign...love it! Obsession is one that I had the chance to play a number of times on BGA before buying it last year. A few weeks ago, I asked Dan Halligan, the designer, to teach the game to my friend at PAX Unplugged here in Philly...he did; delightful.

Good list, although I’d never even heard of “Station fall” or that snooker-crockinole stepchild. Cyclades is a good choice, although i was a bit disappointed not to see “Bellends of the South of England” on your list. Stationfall is so underrated. It's always incredible fun and every game is a story you'll be able to tell. Absolutely love it. Top 10 for me for sure.

So pleased to see Last Kingdom on this list. One of the games of the year for me too but as you say it's gone completely under the radar including on YT games reviewers, most of whom haven't mentioned it at all.

Cyclades is my favorite. As a measure of its greatness, at least four people I’ve introduced it to later bought the game (2 at the table, even though I own it and play it regularly).

Happy Christmas to you too. I got in on the legendary Cyclades as well because of your constant praising. But am since doubting if i had better just bought the existing well received one thatn this rebalanced new edition. Games released this year that made it on my top 10 instantly: The Warp - a 4x type Walls of Scydonia - catapult dexterity game in which you are also errecting a lot stuff and see whose sturdy tower stands longest. (Including strategy cards like "tornado" which forces your opponent to slide his fingers through his own walls) Both of those games also count to the best indie games category. Thanks for the videos once more. Best wishes to your family.

Fast becoming one of my favourite channels, keep it up! I've played Stationfall 4 times so far, and all have been memorable and crazy and stupid and just so much fun. Only one time did I play with a random guy at a convention and he got really upset because he missed that he could take an extra action or something and it pretty much knocked him out of contention 9and we misunderstood a particular character ability), but like, lighten up, guy! It's a chaotic game, just have a laugh and play again and screw someone else over. Anyway, never playing with him again! Merry Christmas to you too, and looking forward to your New Year Rant!

Just played a 6p free-for-all Cyclades game last week, with our favourite modules from the expansions (Special Metropoli, Kronos + titans, Divine Artifacts + Magic Items, Priestesses)... absolutely epic game!! Thanks for all the videos. Refreshing, against the grain and gave me a LOT of spending targets that I had no idea about, like The Last Kingdom. Also, I was adding Cyclades to the basket when you've said a reprint+ is coming. It doesn't freaking matter at all if I agree with some or not (for example I hate Obsession), what matters is that in all those videos you helped me more than entire channels in years. Ironically, your videos seem the "least" bollocks, currently. Not meant as an insult, but conceptually. I'm sure you're not short of that particular hairy commodity ;) Dudes on the map is my fav genre, so your recommendations are very important, knowing that this is your area as well, most likely. Our of curiosity, Cry Havoc (2016 Portal Games) was "haven't played" or "is shit"?

25 different races in TI4 now. They added the 25th one on the 25th anniversary of the original games release.

My top 5 would be Shadows of Brimstone, betrayal at house on the hill, mansions of madness, sleeping gods and Waste Knights.

Great list. Have a question about Kemet. We only only played it a handful of times but we kept on running into a never ending game loop. In the rule book it says, you have to have 9 points and or 2 more points than any other player "at the start of our turn." That last bit put us into a spiral, is your turn the start of a round. Or just when you take an action? We loved the game but if we waited till the start of a round for someone to have 8/9 points + 2 more points than anyone else the game didn't end. Maybe language of the Rules is getting the best of us. Thanks for any and all feedback. I hope I explained our issues. Thanks.
