I worked there (in GA) for 9 years. 1990-1999. I'm one of the 3 original members of the USPSA/IPSC "Team Glock" shooting team. After 27 years, I've logged over 700,000 rounds through Glocks. My original competition gun (G21 .45) has over 100,000 rounds through it and is still one of my best shooting Glocks ever!. GLOCK FOR LIFE!!!

25 years ago when I was qualifying for my concealed carry a man and wife were sharing a Glock! When he used the gun there was no problems! However, when she was firing it she often had a "stovepipe" malfunction! Instructor finally realized she was not resisting the recoils quite enough for the slide to function fully, sometimes resulting in the fired case not quite clearing the action. Once she started to "lean" into the recoil just a little she had no more problems! I suspect the same situation could apply to any semi-auto handgun. Just a thought to share.

I completely agree it probably would have blown the Berettta out of the water had it competed in the US tests,Ive carried my Beretta 92 FS for a year now and have actually even hunted with it with great success,I think its an outstanding firearm, that said,Im getting older and my mind a little slower and I have found myself squeezing the trigger on a pistol with the safety engaged far too many times to still cary it and be confident I will survive a gun fight with it.My good friend owns a gun shop and has always wanted a 92 for his personal collection so he ordered me a Glock 17 last night and we are going to swap straight across. Ive carried Glocks since the late 90s and trust my life completely to them.

Also I heard that 75's are slightly more reliable, when it comes to stovepipe limp-wristing failures, such as they don't happen often.

A lot of polymer framed pistols are so light that they're often susceptible to limp-wristing stove pipe failures. The heavier, all metal guns typically don't have these issues. It's something about how the gun flips back upon firing, it catches the ejected casing. It might not happen to a lot of shooters, but for more inexperienced shooters it's probably more likely. It's one of the main reasons I wouldn't suggest a Glock to a 90 pound girl. It may work well for a lot of guys, but Glocks seem to have that issue.

/// //// The Cz p07 duty is very manageable in the recoil department and is VERY reliable! I have a later gen 1 (with the "B" prefix in the serial number) and it's absolutely 100%. It's also a polymer framed pistol about the same size as the Glock 19 and there have been many comparisons between the two and they're about neck and neck as far as reliability is concerned. The earlier Gen4 Glock 19's had a recall on them because they decided to put a recoil spring designed for the 40 s&w in their 9mm's and this made it where you couldn't run lighter loads reliably in them. Glock of course straightened out of the issues out. I've never shot a glock but I've shot many other handguns and the Cz p07 duty is my favorite. I hear the Glock 19's have a snappier recoil than the p07 duty. I'm probably going to go try one out soon. I love my Cz p07 duty but I'm sure Glock makes a fantastic product as well. I picked out my Cz over the Glock 19 because it was a Gen 3 Glock and I just didn't care for it. I kind of like the Gen 4's though. You can't go wrong with either one in my opinion.

Back just before the first Gulf War, several of us bought 9mm pistols of our choices. The Sig P226, Berretta 92, S&W 5906, and Browning Hi-Power were the choices made (one bought a Walther PPK in .380). None of us bought a Glock, which is interesting in retrospect. I also remember no one bought a HK M7,. that weird single stack squeeze clock thing... wow look what that is worth now. Anyway, Glock was the new underdog that eventually proved itself over time.

My first Glock was a G26 and I loved it. Later on I bought a Gen3 G19 and it became my favorite handgun. In the 70's, 80's and 90's I was an avid S&W fan. I held an FFL back then and all my revolvers and semi-auto's were S&W's. When Glock was introduced I remember saying I'd NEVER own one. Now it's the ONLY 9mm in my inventory. As a longtime gun owner I absolutely LOVE my Glock pistols. Today Glock has some excellent competition out there, which is good for all of us :>)

Of course there is competition. Why not derive your own product from something that works so well? The Glock 17 itself has influences from a lot of other inventors and manufacturers. It is however a mark of quality that Glock still is as strong as it is 40 years later.

Ok. I see through all your lies. Glocks are not plastic, they are polymer and they will long outlast the user. Chuck Taylor has over 300,000 rds and counting through his G17. When is supposed to break down? We're all waiting to find out. Show me any 1911 that can say they have 300,000 rds from it...hell, show me one that will even fire without cleaning after 1000. Plastic is proven to be stronger than steel.

Anguinus Vir Why do you correct me saying theyre polymer, then go on to call them plastic? Also youre waiting to find out when someones Glock breaks down? Who even is Chuck Taylor? lol. I'm not going to show you a 1911 with lots of rounds, because I dont care. I guess youre generalizing me into some fanboy, but other manufacturers make all metal pistols. Not even going to try and debate your comment about plastic being stronger than steel, thats just laughable, and you can go on believing whatever you want.

My local gun shop (Indy Arms) has rental pistols. You can try a model before you buy in their range. I was buying my first handgun and the guy behind the counter pulled a Glock 17 Gen One and said that it had over 25,000 rounds through it. The only thing that was replaced was the barrel and extractor (I think) but 90% of the parts in it were original. That was enough for me. My Gen One has over 5000 rounds since I bought it new and I have not replaced anything except the springs in the magazines. They were really getting weak. The magazines have almost no finish left on them, as do most of the parts. I don't shoot it much anymore but it's under my mattress with one in the pipe. I now carry the Glock 43. Just more convenient and smaller that's all.

I carried a Glock 17 in Iraq for three years and fired thousands of rounds through it (mostly on the range). I never cleaned it. Yes, shame on me. I dropped it sometimes in the dirt and once in a slime-clay-like soup puddle. It always fired flawlessly...then just a day before I left Iraq I cleaned the heck out of it just for GP - and to ease my guilt. But I will never carry anything other than a Glock. The recent decision by the Army to buy another pistol was very stupid.

I purchased my first Glock in 1993, a model 17 that was imported from Austria, with 5 pre clinton mags. For 10 yr or so it lived on a sailboat. after unknown amount of rounds, it still goes bang EVERYTIME and I can hit what I aim at. Of the 5 I own, it by far has the smoothest triger pull. Whan more do I need?....................well maybe the 10mm?

I love both 17 and 19 but I prefer the 19. I have big hands but even the 17 seems large in my hand. Plus the 19 to me may as well just be the norm. I'm really weird about capacity. With handguns, I prefer it ending in 5 or 0 between 10 and 20 rounds. 17 rounds just seems odd to me I wish it was 18. But 15 rounds is high capacity to me which is why I love my 19. That and it fits so flush In the hand

I wish Glock or someone would make a light plastic clip on shield to fit over the back of the upper slide to keep dust out of it. I noticed the other day that dust was accumulating in the lower receiver in the trigger mechanism. This dust collects under normal carry conditions. The cover could just fall off if you need to shoot the gun.
