I agree with previous sentiments about any rifle can be a survival rifle - they will all fit in your truck, but I do get the take-down feature. Thanks for the vid!
sadly that ES power drink is only in K-pods and still like my ,308 winchester
You know... you two are not doing a very good job of making your area sound like a great place to live... ha ha ha. Come to the land of ticks! It's so nice! I grew up in St. Louis and we used to go camping at Bennet Springs - and we always got ticks on us there... that was 55 years ago...
I just can not think of a more versatile gun than the American 12 gauge shot gun, with different chokes for different loads, the weapon offers quite a selection for hunting different game. If I was hiking in bear country, I would not want my weapon to be packed away in a back pack. Having it close to my person, like on a sling around my shoulder, seems like a more preferable method in case it is suddenly needed for protection. I was told when I was a young boy scout, the best method of survival is being prepared.
I decided to join a local inside range. It's only 20 yards maximum range... which I would prefer at least 25 but you can shoot anything including shotguns up to .308 Winchester power level there and rapid fire as long as your rounds are staying on the target, you can draw and fire (they just "certify you" by checking that you're doing it safely) - no steel case or steel core bullets, so a few constraints but it is is so convenient and with a membership, it's very reasonable if you shoot every week or more. I will still be visiting the outside ranges with longer range bays for my rifles.
Praying for your dad’s health and healing
Yup, our conservation range is “out in the woods”. 12 stations, 4 each at 25, 50, and 100 yards. It is an open range, meaning no staff. It is closed one day a week for maintenance and cleanup.
I think the ultimate survival rifle is 308 because 308 is powerful enough to drop anything at distance so it can be used for everything including long range large game hunting only bad part is wouldn’t be able to carry a lot of ammo for a long period of time because it will wear you out. I think 10 mm is the best pistol caliber for survival
Sounds like the W. E. F. just made a pre-emptive strike(along with George, you know who!), on America's 2nd Amendment, through the back door, so to speak!
You are absolutely correct they are everywhere.
Ruger gunsite scout, stainless model with polymer stock for weather resistance. Has iron sights and is magazine fed. Lightweight, short overall a great option.
Thanks, Mark.
Awesome video Mark
.I take a Ruger 10/22. It's the only firearm type I can easily carry 1,000 rounds. I've done this in the Idaho Sawtooth Wilderness.
I'll stick with my Winchester's In .357 mag. Or .44 mag. Mod-94 trapper or mod- 92 Thank you. A real survival situation is not an ideal environment for maintaining a rifle with so many moving parts. Not to motion take down plastic guns don't make a vary good club.
What about the Thompson contender?
Got lots of guns Love my Davey Cricket
I own this in the 9mm pistol, Its pretty cool. I like that you can easily convert it to other calibers. I do agree with other poster that a shotgun is the ultimate survival gun in most situations. Here in Idaho I do carry a G20 10mm with after market spring and barrel for bear protection, so I agree with you on that point.
The ultimate survival rifle would be a four bore
Watch 10 test videos Half of them don’t work period
The 10 mm you can shoot 40 cal also through it.
Depending on the caliber, if you're looking for 9mm I don't believe you can beat the KelTec Sub 2000 Gen 3. Folding length is just a little over 16 inches, weight just over 4 lbs (unloaded) with the ability to put a number of add-ons to the rifle. I believe there are many better rifles for home and self-protection, but for a survival rifle, I believe the KelTec would be worth looking at.
JMHO- The term " SURVIVAL" has been b*stardized and mixed in with SHTF and bushcrafty stuff and the combat LARPing these days, you'd have to be very specific about what the ultimate goal and purpose is for the firearm you'd choose. I'd most likely have some something that I already have and use for hunting. No grizzer bars in these parts here lately. The black bears are moving back in, but AFAIK what I've used for deer and swine and varmints would be as adequate for black bear. Upright varmints are handled with the same proven firearms. I don't fly to distant regions, so that's no problem. If there was a SHTF, I'd be in the bushes until whatever trouble passed me by. Nobody's winning any firefights with a hostile force of superior numbers, so I don't feel like letting somebody venting their frustration on me. Find an accurate load for what you have. Prove it up. Stack the proven ammo DEEP. Don't shoot any heluvit shots. Take care of what you have. Act like a civilized person with common sense and you'll more than likely be ok. Good Luck
Hello man😊😊😊😊
👍🏻👍🏻
No open sights as a backup ? NOT a serious tool you can stake your life on . The larger calibers are great though .
A Moss 12g 500/590 with a 18” or 20” barrel is an all-around Alaska firearm. Freezing rain, wet snow to sub, sub zero temperatures. It always works. Good for bear protection when loaded with Breneke black magic slugs/
I’ll stick with my Marlin 3030
How often are you using ES Power?
Cape gun!
I like the Savage 24D 223 over 12gauge. Savage didnt make them for very long, but if you can find one grab it!
I like my Savage. 22lr over 20 ga with a 357 mag 18" adapter.
Thanks 🙏👍
556 vs 10mm and you think 10mm is better? You are DEAD WONG & LITTERALY INSANE.
WTF...are you insane? 10mm against a moose or grizzly?! I do not believe you understand the size of those animals.
People in Alaska use 10mm all the time. We are talking using in close self-defense situation not trying to take one at 100 plus yards hunting🤷🤦🏼🤣
AR7
In terms of hardcore outdoor survival long guns, I have a Charter Arms AR-7 and a couple of stainless Springfield Armory M6 Scouts.
As an old Marine the "ultimate Survival Rifle" is the rifle you have with you.
I agree 💯👍
As former Air Asult 100% agree
As someone who lives in Alaska, I’d have to agree on 10mm. There are better choices but as an all around do all cartridge, that’s what I carry in the woods if I’m not looking for trouble.
I like your thoughts. I would think that you could place a grip of some sort on the barrel.. I would be a little concerned about the 10 mm, I'm thinking a NATO round such as 9mm. Perhaps 10mm is a NATO round, just that 9mm is so prolific.. I got a 9mm Glock pistol and a Ruger PC carbine, which does break down for a backpack.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! A glock is a tool not a fashion plate I can come up with 12 reason way glocks are far superior!
I think my 22 mag would be my do it all rifle. It will take small game and has enough power to take medium game.
Henry AR7
Have one. Very Reliable and Compact. 22lr. But effective
Love the old 22 rifle that breaks down fomer Air force issue 😮
AR-7
@@tomjefferson2024 exactly what I was thinking, but I was not sure 😕 😅
Old Camp rifles have always felt comfortable. I like the Ruger .45 APC LC Carbine. Backed up with a 1911, share the ammo. Cowboy style 🤠
I agree with the comments about sights and needing it ready to function. I guess I don't understand a "backpack" survival gun unless you plan to keep it hidden till deep into the woods, having a gun in pieces in a back pack is nearly as good as being unarmed. Predators (2 or 4 legged) will NOT wait for you to assemble your backpack weapon. Best "backpack " weapon I've seen is the Midland 12ga, folds in half but requires no assembly, just snap it closed on a shell...
Thats why you have a side arm until you can get out rifle🤷
Scout rifle/carbin with iron sights! IF you can find one!
410 break action shotgun - I think is the ultimate survival gun. Simple, durable, and Perfect for small game animals like squirrel, rabbit. It will take turkey (TSS shot), waterfowl, upland game birds and go all the way up to deer with slugs / buckshot at close range. Can also get the adapters to shoot 22 lr, 9mm and 45 colt. Probably not the best option for dangerous game like grizzly bear but would certainly be better than nothing. Don't underestimate the 410 - it is significantly more powerful than people give it credit for. It's slugs are about as effective as 357 mag.
It's subjective, .410/.45LC ala Rossi Circuit Judge. 5 shot revolver with a 16-inch barrel. THAT said the one I have is mediocre at longer than 30 or 40 yards. The .410 is suitable for birds, rabbits, or snakes. The .45LC at 50 yards is 4-6 MOA, but I still hit it. Kel-tec SU-16C 5.56mm, shoots while folded. Takes an optic/laser on Piccatiny rail, AR magazines. Precise enough for 2-4 MOA at 300 yards, tighter in close. And it folds to backpack size.
my personal choice would be my 870 Remington pump with a with ammunition from bird shot , no 4,5,bb, no 1 buck sbot, slugs in 12 gauge. papa wishing you well 😊
.62 smooth bore flint lock. If it wasn't for them we would not be here
