This is the BEST video I have seen on visiting Madrid. I have been there twice and agree with many of your comments. Two things I wish I had been aware of are the viewing locations that you mention in this video and the location of the vast park following the river in Madrid . However we did visit Parque del Retiro both times and loved it.

Really enjoying your videos Tony. We are travelling from Ireland and driving from the ferry in Bilbao to Madrid.We are stopping in Segovia and Avila before spending 5 nights in Madrid. Your videos on Segovia and Avila have been most helpful.we plan on leaving our car in Madrid Airport. Is it normal practice to have to leave the key of your car with the Car Park proprietors. Thanking you again for all your hard work and making it easier to plan our trip.

Hi Joseph, never heard of a car park requesting that you leave the car keys with them. For long-term stays we use the official low-cost car parks at the airport. You take the key with you. All the best!

Hello Jea-Ann, many thanks for your kind words. On your first day, do whatever you fancy on that day, the order of visits doesn't matter much. On a nice day, you could go to El Retiro and El Prado. We've never hired a tour guide, so we can't give you any feedback on it, but guided visits usually provide a richer understanding of the place you are visiting. As I watch your Lisbon video you mention about it that most attractions are close during Mondays in Lisbon.

Hi Anna, Monday tends to be the most critical day, but you would have to check the attractions one by one. Many attractions open 7 days a week.

Hi Tony, I'm a new subscriber. Glad I happen to watch your videos. We are visiting Spain and Portugal this coming June with my family. I saw your video about Sagrada Familia to buy tickets from their official website. Do you recommend the same process in Royal Palace of Madrid? Im confused about skip the line tickets because when we are in Greece, we got out tickets to Parthenon and Acropolis but still had to line up to the entrance for about 45 mins and that is arriving 7:30 am. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hi Millie, be very welcome to the channel. In June, buying your tickets in advance for the Royal Palace might save you quite a lot of time. With the pre-booked tickets, you enter through the fast lane.

Great video. I live in estepona so visiting Madrid is fairly easy and cheap by bus. I whould recommend booking a walking tour for anyone about to visit. They last 2 hours and only cost like 5 euros.

You are planning just the one day in Madrid but have chosen a hotel outside Madrid, in neighboring Alcorcón. Doesn't seem like a good choice. There is absolutely no point of interest near that location. You'll have to get some transport to get you to Madrid.

I will be in Spain in 2 weeks for a combined stay in, first, Madrid/Salamanca/Toledo and then Andalusía. I would like to buy abono with RENFE (cercanías to go to El Escorial and Aranjuez) and Media Distanciá for Salamanca/Toledo. Can I still buy those just for December if they started in September? And also I will be travelling between Toledo and Cordoba, which seems to be below 300km so MD abono should cover the trip? Do you know if these abonos will run in 2024? Thank you very much for your time and advice.

Muchas gracias a ti! Purchasing an abono only make sense if you are going to make repeated trips on the same route. But your train tickets well in advance, that's how you'll get the best prices.

Hola Tony, thanks for your informative videos which I am watching to plan my Madrid trip. While planning for my Madrid trip, I also came across Go City Madrid All-inclusive day pass which can be found in many travel tour booking website but with limited reviews and comments. Could you give some advice on this attraction pass whether it really does save huge cost? Hello there. All-inclusive passes demand a lot of attention and research. We've just seen the pass you mention includes things like a Prado Museum guide tour, with a value of 50€. Sounds like a great deal. But the normal ticket to see the Prado Museum costs 15€... Huge costs if you were planning on paying for guided tours and the likes. Otherwise, that pass is not a great use of you money.

But it looks like a savings if I'm going to join many of the guided tours only if I managed to get a slot for it else the pass will not be a cost saving. 😂 Do you have any suggestions to tour Avila, Segovia and Toledo day trips while staying in Madrid within total budget of 70-80 Euros for the transportation & admission tickets?

Hi Tony, We hope that you and Cecilia are enjoying your summer. We have a question, and we hope this is the correct place to ask it. We are planning a trip to Madrid, Zaragoza, and Avila April 28-May 17, 2024. Do you know of anything special going on in Madrid during those dates which would result in very high airfares? We have noticed that airfares round-trip from NY to Madrid are about $1,000, whereas our last trip to Madrid this past May was almost half that (on American Airlines). Maybe airfares have just jumped that high (which is really crazy) or maybe it's just too soon to be checking on it. We have tried checking the Madrid 2024 calendar from our end, without much success. Hi Carol, everything fine over here. A local event would have a direct impact on accommodation prices, but not on airplane tickets, they follow other dynamics sometimes impossible to decipher. But be aware that flight prices have gone up absurdly in recent times. Have you tried other dates to see if the prices go down?

I love your videos very informative. I am flying into Madrid in two weeks and I’m staying at the Intercontinental hotel if I understand correctly a taxi is €33. Is it customary to put a gratuity on top of the €33 when taking a taxi?also, I am flying American Airlines from the United States and I believe it will arrive at terminal four. Thank you Tony very informative videos. Another question please. Is the Intercontinental hotel in the city center a close walk to all the attractions you discussed in another of your videos? Puerta de sol, plaza del ciebles, royal palace of madrid, etc? We can walk up to two miles each way.

@@martineskenazi3289 your hotel is a bit far from the centre, 3 kilometres or more. Use the public transport, no point in wasting valuable time coming and going.

I will have exactly 11 full days in Spain in the spring. I want to devote a full day each in Toledo and Segovia. Besides that I'm not so sure. I do want to see Spain as much as possible, but don't want the trip to be hurried and stressful. Any recommendations as to how many days I should spend in Madrid and what other cities I should visit during a 11 day trip?
