0:18: 🍽 The video discusses the stages of kidney disease and the difference between a standard renal diet and a healing diet. 5:24: 📚 The renal diet does not apply to 80% of people with kidney disease, but for the remaining 20%, it is crucial to limit sodium, potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen, and possibly water intake. 9:44: 🍎 The main contributor to kidney disease is type 2 diabetes and hypertension, and managing insulin resistance can help prevent 90% of kidney diseases. 14:24: 🥦 The importance of managing potassium levels in kidney health and the potential benefits of garlic and cherries. 19:13: 🥦 The video discusses various foods and their potassium and phosphorus levels, with a focus on a low-carb or ketogenic diet. 23:37: 🥦 The X list discusses various foods and their suitability for a renal diet, highlighting their nutritional content and potential benefits. 28:38: 🥦 The speaker discusses the impact of certain foods on kidney health and suggests working with a nephrologist for personalized guidance. 33:56: ✅ The speaker discusses the benefits of certain foods for kidney health and suggests specific dosages for different stages of kidney disease. 39:09: 🍉 The renal diet focuses on controlling damage rather than limiting minerals, but it is mainly applicable to chronic kidney disease. The goal should be to address the underlying cause, such as insulin resistance, which leads to kidney failure, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. Recap by Tammy AI

I'm in my mid-70s now. When I was 14 a doctor told my mother to not allow me to drink sodas because I had weak kidneys. I took that seriously and stopped drinking any sodas. 4 years later my granddad who was a heavy Coca Cola drinker died of kidney failure. That reinforced my decision. My kidneys are in excellent condition. I've avoided heavily processed food most of my life, cooked from scrtch and gardened a lot as healthier choices. I prefer water to drink.

Love everything on this list except radishes. We eat lots of onions, and I love cabbage, and all the cruciferous veggies. Garlic is awesome, and ginger is such a good remedy for caiming an upset tummy. Lots of protein in chicken, and love kale omeletes with swiss cheese, and spices, cooked til the edges crisp, then sprinkle with brewer's yeast, or parmesan. Eating healthy shows in hair and fingernails first. My Nurse Practitioner told me that is how she could tell that I ate a healthy diet. And, we should stay off the PATHETIC scale when trying to lose weight. Our clothing let's us know if we go up or down, and if it is true weight or fluid buildup. Scales are dreadful things that lie if you put them on an even slightly uneven surface. LOL

I recently recovered from a UTI and found that consuming a significant amount of dried cranberries was incredibly effective. However, I agree with your observation that the sugar content in them is comparable to that of soda, which isn't an advisable choice. Although I have allergies that prevent me from consuming artificial sweeteners, I am willing to give your suggestion of non-sweetened cranberry concentrate mixed with water a try. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg! Your knowledge and expertise are truly amazing, and I am constantly learning so much from you.

I love Dr. Ekberg's videos, I've listened to almost all of them all the way through at work and at home. Starting to reccomend this channel to my friends and family, since over the last 3 months or so I've lost a significant amount of weight, put on muscle (from all the eggs I eat now), and my original goal to begin with was honestly just fixing my health problems after years of excessive alchohol consumption. People have seen the changes on me, and I hope that's enough to get them hooked, as well. I just wish there was a channel like this, but for our beloved pets... I have a cat that I want to feed right, too, but she wont eat eggs. 😅 (For context: I am 27, female, 3+ months off the booze and on the Heath Champion lifestyle. I've lost around 30 lbs. My health is overall a lot better, but my liver is still kind of sensitive due to the slow process of healing, and the tap water at my new apartment is horrifically full of chemicals. Just bought a water filter, as a start to fixing that problem.)

@dirtclodboi For me, it just feels like some inflammation. It's not painful, but enough to notice that something isn't right. It used to be worse after a night of binge drinking. Now, it's just mild occasionally if I've had too much coffee or something. It would also flare up before I finally cut out energy drinks, too. Most people who also struggle with alchohol are also familiar with the feeling. It's a pretty subtle but clear sign that it's time to make a change. Additionally, if it's painful, then you might definitely need to see a doctor.

Hello, Dr. Ekberg. I am so happy you talked about this because I am a CKD 3A patient and am confused about my diet. In my February bloodwork I moved up to Stage 2 (eGFR 68.5/Crea 0.69) which was awesome, but last May my eGFR went down again to Stage 3A (eGFR 56.7/Crea 0.82). I was devastated. I figured it was my diet. I had mostly vegetables 6 months ago but then I ate meat again and did some fasting. I think protein and intermittent fasting are bad for me. However, my doctor told me that I don't have to worry about my food intake but recommended that I have a balanced meal. He didn't recommend fasting at all. No renal diet for me, he reckoned. Watching this video made me more relaxed. Thank you very much, Doc. You explained better than any doctor I met. God bless you.

Thank you so much, I’ve recently been dx with stage 1 kidney disease, I’ve already been following your herbal advice since I was dx with stage one breast ca. I’ve been practicing intermittent fasting to starve the cancer of carbs since I found you on KZread in February of 23, I’ve lost weight was considered pre diabetes, but I guess one is either diabetic or not. So I’m trying to reverse my dx of both . And I’m already considering eating raw cranberries. Once upon a time I used to hand rake cranberries for a summer job. I can eat them bitter

All my blood tests say me eGFR is around 66 to 69... I have had several over the last couple of years. My doctor has taken urine samples and given me ultrasounds to check my kidneys and every time they say they are fine. They have told me that I just naturally have a low eGFR and there is nothing to worry about. I am worried though. The blood tests began because I keep having gout attacks even though I don't drink alochol, I don't eat seafood and I eat very little red meat.

Dr Sten, I was unable to see what that 1st subliminal image was even after going back & watching it 10 plus times!! All I saw was a long haired bohemian looking man but could not make it out at all. I didn't even try to figure out the second one at the berries 😢 My subliminal mind is WAY Slower than Yours apparently!! I need them to be played at least twice as long to have a hope of seeing them on any level!! 😂 I knew it was funny IF I could have figured it out. Sad to miss the humor as You are a funny guy! I admire Your brilliance, humor & devotion to science! You are a true Dr of health!! Thank You more than words can say.

I went whole food plant based no sugar no oil no salt (WFPB-SOS) after smelling beef in my urine at stage 3a CKD. Saturated fat increases insulin resistance and causes kidney damage as sell. So I would recommend keeping portions small, 4 ounces or less. Some kidney professional recommend saturated fat be kept to 5% of calories or less.
