It's really easy to forget just how good Dak's rookie year was. A lot of people wrote Dallas off after Romo got injured only for the Cowboys to finish with the best record in the NFC. It's a real shame their season came to end because of late game heroics by Aaron Rodgers, but it really was impressive how well they did given the circumstances.

@@mustysmells817 prolly cause quarterback is a way harder position and when your coming in as a 4th round pick you don’t expect to have that much success and Dak beat the odds. Plus Elliot was rushing with an elite offensive line. Dak 100% deserved that award

I agree. 5000 yards in a single season was unheard of at the time and Marino casually did that and led his team to the Super Bowl in his second season

Dak threw the ball more than Ben Ben was babied he only threw the ball 15 times a game on average his rookie year.... The defense kept them in games and the run game chewed clock he was a game manager nothing more his rookie year.....

You had to put Russell Wilson that is a stud. He’s the reason why Seattle still goes to the playoffs well minus 2017 but still he’s really good now that he has good protection and DK Metcalf awesome pick on number four

Mark Sanchez led the Jets to back to back AFC Championship game appearances in 2009-10...4-2 in playoffs all wins on the ROAD.

Nah. He threw for more yards and had two more TDs than Dak, but also 6 more picks. His rating is 98.3. Daks was 104.9. Dak had a slightly higher completion %. Herbert had a great rookie season, but Daks was still better by a tiny bit.

I'd like to think RGIII would still be a starting quarterback if he'd had better coaches and didn't get hurt. It's funny that Peyton Manning had the record for TD passes by a rookie but didn't even get mentioned. Though I imagine the team's record and throwing 28 picks is the reason for that.

If Luck was drafted by a real team, he would’ve won a Super Bowl and would become a Hall Of Famer, hands down

As a Steelers fan although Big Ben went undefieded in his rookie season and the Steelers finish with a higher record, Dak Prescott had the greatest single season i've seen in my life and he deserved that #1 spot

I'm glad Flacco is an honorable mention his rookie year is underrated .

Uh no. He was a pretty bad passer his rookie year and he only won games because of the defense. EVen though he won games he only had 6 wins which is lower than pretty much every QB here.

Dan Marino is the best qb in his time no doubt . Better than Montana (excluding playoffs) . And sling gin Sammy changed football forever

Even tho Dak had better stats, I think Big Ben it’s number one because he went undefeated and lead them to the AFC championship game. The team that beat them won the superbowl(Patriots)

Okay. As a Panthers fan, I disagree with this list. Big Ben should be number one over Dak Prescott. Prescott might’ve gone 13-3 as a rookie but Ben was 15-1 overall. 15 dubs to 1 L is better than being 13-3.

If and when you update this you will probably have to put Herbert up there at No.1. First rookie ever with over 30 TD passes and he just missed setting the passing yards mark for rookies also. The Gold Standard for Rookie YEARS however would be Mark Sanchez or Joe Flacco because of what they accomplished in the playoffs.

Sanchez and Flacco both played good enough to help their teams win 2 games in the playoffs, and Sanchez had a Passer Rating of 139.4 in his very 1st playoff game. Only Kurt Warner was better (Rating of 143) in his 1st ever playoff game but Kurt wasn't a rookie.

Nobody had as good a situation as a rookie than Marino had. He inherited a team that was just in the Super Bowl, his Defense was No.1 in Least Points Allowed, and his coach was the best in the league at the time. No other rookie has ever had all of those perks. Unfortunately, Dan played bad enough to help his team lose his 1st ever playoff game.
