To be fair, even though a lot of luck was involved in most of Brady's success, he also got extremely unlucky more often than not imho. He got very lucky in 2001, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020, but he also got very unlucky in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2021. His team let him down big-time in 2006, 2011 and 2015, whereas in 2021 Saints purposefully took out his best WR Godwin and injured another 3-4 bucs players just a couple of weeks before the playoffs. That failure was honestly all on the coaches for playing their best players in a meaningless endseason game, after they'd already pretty much won the division. AB, as the only semi-non-injured player quit during the jets game, so that didn't make his situation any easier. Its pretty impressive Brady even managed to hang in that long against a fully healthy rams team, with his only weapon being Evans who came off the injury list 2 weeks ago and who could barely run.

Huge NFL failures, Canadian league & over the hill players such as Blanda, Rote, Dawson, Parilli, Gilchrist & Maynard were stars in the crappy AFL where as those of the AAFC such as Graham, Tittle, Motley, Perry, Hirsch, Lavelli, Speedie & Ford went on to become HOFs after joining the NFL. Aaron Rodgers 2015 and 2016 was not a decline in his play, he was making unbelievable throws and carrying the team in the playoffs both years. The cardinals divisional he threw back to back Hail Marys to tie that game only to never touch the ball again and the 2016 NFCCG was a complete blowout with no defense. In 2017 he broke his collarbone and in 2018 he had a statistically great year on a fractured knee from week 1. 2019 was his game manager year where he still put up great numbers before his MVP resurgence. The only year I’ve seen him truly decline was 2022, and I’m assuming that’s just a hiccup due to no receivers and broken thumb.

I don't like the GOAT debates. I feel that there are too many "what if" factors. For example, I wonder what would have happened if Dan Marino was born in Manning & Brady's era. Or if Brees & Brady switched teams. Would Brees then have more rings than Brady? I mean without 17 top 10 defenses in 21 years (8 of them being top), I think Brady himself would tell you that he wouldn't even be CLOSE to 7 rings. I mean, there are WAY too many factors, but nice video in any case.

Had a great playoff career, but wasn’t used as much in the regular season as some. But was rather efficient when used.

Lol, as you talk about check downs, the highlight wheel shows Brady throwing 10+ yard passes over and over, I hated the guy when he played, but I've grown up and can know enjoy what a great player he was

I think Brady will go down in history the same way Bill Russell did. Bill Russell won 11 championships, a feat that really can’t be repeated by anyone these days, but no one could ever argue that he was better than Johnson, Bird, Jordan, Lebron, etc. Especially since most teams are looking for dual threat QB’s (Mahomes, Allen, Jackson) Brady’s poor mobility and style of play, while effective, will likely be seen as more and more of an afterthought in the years to come.

They won’t remember his style of play but they’ll remember his comebacks and how he won/haunted the league for the entire start of the 21st century. That’s what makes him the goat

Its hard to compare two guys in two wildly different sports and positions. Whereas Brady exclusively played on offense, Bill Russel was more of a defense oriented Center, a rebound machine if you will. Russel struggled to average 15+ points most of the time. Since thats the case, of course Brady's play and his games would be more memorable.

This list is less bad then last year at least. 1a. Brady 1b. Rodgers 1c. Manning 4. Brees 5. Marino 6. Unitas 7. Montana 8. Graham 9. Young 10. Favre HM: Elway

McCarthy is the reason Rodgers doesn't have more than 1 ring. Imagine if the Packers hired Andy Reid over Ray Rhoades in 1999, Favre and Rodgers probably get 3 more each tbh

The Brady supercomputer analogy was spot on. Boring and infuriating to watch (maybe cover the flats defenses?!!!), but checkdowns win championships apparently. Hopefully being a monster in all facets of the QB position like Mahomes is will also win lots of championships. I’d much rather have the GOAT be someone who is enjoyable to watch.

Mahomes is already the best QB I've ever seen play. The only question is the longevity. In my opinion, if he wins 4 rings and breaks all the passing records, he's the GOAT.

I’d argue he probably could put up just 3 rings and he’d be my goat but the circumstances around those rings would have to be legendary

If Mahimes even sustains 75% of his current level of play throughout his career and only wins 1 more ring, he’s still easily the GOAT. And this is coming from a broncos fan.

One thing about Marino you have to remember is that , he carried those teams in the 80s and into the early 90s ,, no running game and complete trash defense. He literally had to throw the ball almost every down. He would give his team the lead, and then watch the opposing quarterback call right down the field to win the game numerous times
