    I come from a metal and EDM background, and one day I tried sausage fattener on guitar. It is usually meant to absolutely crush and add intense harmonics to synths to make ridiculous beefy synths(think knife party kind of audio damage) but used moderately on guitar I got some of the clearest and punchiest guitar tones. Just keep the sausage mildly unhappy and set threshold to taste. Great on lower tunings.

    good tip! i'll try it out! i mostly produced Drum & Bass before and it worked wonders for those heavy basses, that are basically like a bass and low tuned guitar combined

    The way Waves prices their plugins now, it's pretty affordable to get into their ecosystem. I think I bought every one of their plugins that you mentioned for $29 (each.) Even the SSL E-Channel! They rotate what's on sale pretty regularly, so I just add stuff I want to my wishlist and check back periodically.

    Scott Nelle check everyplugin.com. They carry waves and have better prices. A sale for $29 at waves is usually $25 at everyplugin. Also, you can usually find additional discount codes for 5-10% off.

    A great alternative to the Massey Tape Head is the Slate Virtual Tape machine. Throw it on default settings.... dial it up or down to taste. Beautiful.

    Guys, my top tip is the Waves Pie Compressor. It has that wonderful ability to bring the mix into the room. You can put it on stuff without even using the compression and it will sound better. The normal price is stupid $250, but it is often on sale. This is not really a metalhead's tool, but if you are a notch or two down from that it is the dog's todger.

    RazzerRaw Throw a commercial track of your choice-- or even a few tracks-- into your DAW then look up how to monitor RMS and the top peaking frequencies in your given DAW. If your DAW doesn't have a way, Reaper has free audio monitoring plug ins, or online there are free RMS meters for download. Just do the research and you'll be fine, but hopefully this is a good place to start for you.

  • @hardcoremusicstudio

    It just does something unique - seems to focus the tone around the midrange and smooth out the top end in a nice way. I don't use it for every lead guitar, just when it seems especially harsh.

  • @XxTRIPPINGxxGUITARxX

    @XxTRIPPINGxxGUITARxX

    6 жыл бұрын

    Rodrigo C. Giacon When you buy it it includes a maximizer with soke settings suited for being in last in a final mastering chain. Idk if it's a wide band Limiter thougu, which isn't always preferred for mastering.

  • @XxTRIPPINGxxGUITARxX

    @XxTRIPPINGxxGUITARxX

    6 жыл бұрын

    Rodrigo C. Giacon I'd say Fab Filter Pro L2 or Waves LL Multi 3 as a final limiter. For mix biss compression take a look at SSL G Master Buss Comp. These options will run you some $$$ but mastering takes a bit of an investment if you want transparent, decent sounding master. Start sifting through KZread and Google to learn the madness of mastering. It's a different ball game from mixing that I can't explain but the internet is your friend. Just gotta do your own research with this kind of thing.
