    Maybe I'm in the minority these days, but I do wish that vocal plugin demos would be done on actual proper singing vocals instead of dreary flat hiphop samples which are basically just regular talking.

    I primarily mix hip hop and Afrobeats so while I hear you and feel for you, it’s my channel and I showcase actual songs I mix and master on a daily basis (and have permission to use as copyright can be a big problem for videos like mine) Despite that - my lessons transcend the genre they’re in IF you’re able to get over the song being used. I’ve got comments from metal heads saying even though they’re in a totally different lane, my hip hop mixing videos helped them mix better so consider that 😂 I wish I could do more to help but all I can do is stay true to me and showcase what I actually work on for the people who genuinely want it 🚀 As an aside, this MAY be a good jump off point for you to start a channel of your own showcasing the genre/style you prefer 👀 I’ll graciously accept 5% of your monetization revenue for the idea 😂🙏🏼

    I assume you’re referring to playing it in full context with all sounds/elements. I totally hear you. The challenge of videos like this is deciding how long to make it - and this video already felt long enough to me personally. Adding a “context” section for each is at least another 20-30 seconds per example, so likely another 5-7 mins of run-time depending. That in and of itself could be OK for some, but my goal was to really highlight my specific use cases, why I like a plugin and give a quick example where it’s easier to hear the differences (solo mode). In the past I found If I do too much in context, people complain it isn’t in solo and is harder to hear differences so for this video I opted to focus on things in solo mode. Taking your note under serious consideration for future videos nonetheless. Thanks for watching Glenn!

    Maybe a weird question, but what is the best way to get formal education in sound engineering?? Do you have any recommendations (preferably Toronto area)?

  • @5piece

    @5piece

    4 ай бұрын

    I’ve been meaning to make a video on this for awhile but I have an article on my website that answers the question pretty succinctly here: 5piecemusic.com/should-i-go-to-audio-engineering-school/ I personally went to Metalworks, which is in Mississauga. I went there because it was the only school that was actually a studio with big names coming in, and they had actual equipment like SSL consoles and the like. Trebas, RAC and Harris are other options but paled in comparison when I attended college back in 2013. Keep in mind: You don’t NEED to go to school for this stuff, but depending on your learning style and desires, it may make sense to. My article should help you decide if it’s something worth pursuing. Best of luck!

    @@5piece World leaders adress so many things ahead. They translate it on national TV (which by all means not a great source of information ). On the other hand a guy on the internet can say alot of things, like a tiktok star who get money from the government to push personal interests. I understand there is this "law" to adress and be upfront if the video is sponsored or not so people be more "aware", with that said, even if they did it like a barter deal, video for plug-ins or whatever, good for you fam.

  • @5piece

    @5piece

    @@user-jw8zm1fg7mI appreciate that. Not sure if you’re Canadian, but up here (I’m Canadian) we literally just had that situation transpire with the government being outed to paying influencers $600K to promote vaccinations. Ironically, there ARE laws in place for that for influencers, meaning you are supposed to disclose sponsored videos. Even affiliate links, you’ll see are disclosed (which I do in every video description as I often do have affiliate links). If one of my videos IS sponsored, even if I don’t blatantly say it, you will see the “sponsored” or “paid endorsement” tag is enabled on the video (which it isn’t in this case because it isn’t sponsored). Despite that, it’s still a gray area in terms of enforcement but I do my best to be upfront and honest with good folks like yourself on these things. You’d actually be surprised at how much stuff I turn down sponsorship-wise because I I just don’t believe it’ll serve my audience, or I just don’t agree with the agenda. “Bigger picture” as they say.
