Jed Hawkins she picked the worst way to go about it. Her plan did nothing but terrorize one town. She could have broken out the other water benders and taught them the technique, she could have killed all of the fire nation soldiers the night she broke out, she could have moved to city where fire nation soldiers were trained and killed them one by one. What she did came out of a sheer desire to see other people suffer.

Exuberant Comics How is Azula misunderstood? She is a villain through and through. She shows not even a tiny slice of remorse or compassion, not even for her friends Mai and Ty Lee; quite the contrary, her lust for power and control gets worse and worse to the point of literal insanity - and her mommy issues are in no way enough to reedem or justify her.

LucienSabre She was brainwashed into believing fear and power are the true way of life. She was brainwashed that love is a weakness. She was brainwashed into believing being a sociopathic manipulator is how you get trust and respect. She was lied about her mother hating her. Her father never cared about her he only cared about her talents. Azula is not pure evil like a lot of people believes. We see in the series that she had moments where she still had some good in her. She never had Iroh or her mother to continue to push her towards the light. They loved her very much but she could never see that. She is a victim like Zuko.

Isa Moe yeah but I think her decision to forget her children was kind of selfish. If she had the presence of mind to know when Zuko was banished she could have went to find him, or reunited with her children while they were chasing Aang around the Earth Kingdom, or came back to the fire nation after Zuko became Fire Lord. This woman killed her father in law, I would have loved to see her reaction to Ozai after he gave Zuko that scar. I definitely sympathize, but lost a lot of respect for her when I found out about that.

@@hydrokineticpowerhouse I kind of agree with that a little bit. It goes more detailed in the comic books. Where Zuko & Azula actually find there mom. It really fills the whole question of why she really was banished. Now, I do agree when she was first banished saying goodbye to Zuko. I wish she would do the same thing for Azula. Waking her up doing the same thing no matter if what she thinks of her. That might have helped Azula understand that her mother never thought her as a monster. That she loved her just as Zuko. Could have given her some reassurance. Which ironically is mention in the comic books.

Patrick Nicholson Katara became a bending master and almost beat master Pakku with her limited water bending skills. We’ve never seen OZAI and azula fight but there’s a chance azula May beat him, she’s a prodigy. Toph was at a young age and was blind and was able to have that much strength.

While Azula is considered the most favorable villain in ATLA, she is also a victim of being a prodigy like Zuko thanks to her sadistic, hungry-power Firelord Ozai. If her mother Uzra hasn’t given her love the same way she did to her brother, things would be different. :( I think Azula deserve to have her redemption arc! :)

Azula was having a mental breakdown during the last fight that's why she lost....she was having hallucinations and losing herself. And people say Katara is more badass because she can blood bend... we are talking about badassness, not power ups. And even in power Azula is awesome because only she in the whole history of fire Nation can bend blue fire. And not to mention she is super intelligent. So for me, I thought Azula at least deserved to be #2 on the list

i loved that in the last episodes we see Azula's mental state change

Mai is my absolute favorite since the boiling rock. She knew Azulas confidence had one weak spot, about how Ursa loved Zuko more than she loved Azula, and Mai didn't hesitate to use it against her And yet I can't disagree with Toph being number 1

Toph Beifong is no. 1 Hmm despite being blind and a kid ... Blind jokes is just for fun not an insult. Name calls on the gaang. Quickly learned sand bending Mud bending. Fight head on to the soldiers of Ba Sing Se felt like rookies. Fought the Dai lee forces while protecting the group at the same time. Discover metal bending on her own. May not have the experienced Zuko life changing field trip instead gave a Toph life changing field trip to Zuko ater the after the ember island play. Defeat soldiers at the height of Sozens Comet using metal armor. Destroy an airship using metal bending. SHE'S MELON LORD!!! Ohh yeah she also beat Kora and despite of her old age.

But Ursa also didn't hesitate to save her child, her life was more tragic as far as we know and Ursa never actually got the spotlight on the show, but she did have a role in the comics.

Azula should have be the first one. She is the best if she hasn’t broken down eventually.

Toph is the most badass here and even later on Korra's... She's simply amazing

I feel like Azula is more badass than Katara though

@@austinholler8094 sryyyyyy, i read somewhere saying that katara could in the episode. I just went back and watched the episode and it was a full moon. i do think tho if katara did actually work on it, she could. but we will never know.

My favorite characters are Katara, Toph and Azula. Edit: I just watched the end, I’m not complaining.

I think Mai has a sexy ‘cold’ of a voice.

Agreed! My top 3 is: 1. Toph 2. Azula 3. Katara. Azula is my number two only cuz bending wise Toph has developed her bending to levels no one but animals (badgermoles) have and then developed and almost impossible sub bending and even then in Ba Sing Se Toph couldn't neutralize her. Azula is just fantastic.

Just finished Avatar last night while binging, and I fell in love with the characters like Suki, the kyoshi Warriors, and of course, Azula. She may be sadistic for the majority of season 3, but beautiful at the same time.

I'm so glad Yue made the list, she's so underrated. She understood the importance of the responsibility that she was born with and pushed away her happiness and gave her life to protect her people. Yue was mature, kind, and selfless

In my opinion, all Waterbenders should learn Bloodbending.

Of course toph was gonna be number 1 on this list. “I’m the greatest earth bender in the world!!!!” That quote screams her right there. And what was cool about her is that she was still kicking ass long after the rest of aangs team avatar.

I have to admit Leo and Virgo are my favourite spirits, in the show and I love the outfits for them on Lucy!

Most of the time especially in Anime, female characters don't get this much of a treatment, thank you Avatar
