I come from Somerset and went to school in Cheddar and live now in France where there are so many beautiful cheeses but have to say that none compares to a mature farmhouse Cheddar and is nothing like the orange rubbery stuff that is passed off as Cheddar in most of the world. I love Chedder and blue cheese but I like the other cheeses too. Blue cheese and Brie are the only foods that I have eaten with mold on them and moldy food is just super gross! 😛😷 but on the other hand it's ok to eat this kind of mold growing on these 2 cheeses. 😃

Having a good American laugh because foreigners(mainly from the other side of the pond), still get outraged when people get the pronunciation wrong. I'm Mexican and I don't cause a huge scene when someone says a word in Spanish incorrectly. I do correct them, however I'm actually happy someone even bothered to learn the word or language in the first place.. Stay classy my friend.

As a cheese-lover, I just had to watch this! I didn't know that Swiss cheese (one of my favorites) was really known as Emmental. Well, I guess we learn something new all the time. That's part of what I love about this channel; it's chock full of interesting info and fun facts. :)

The video is a mere demonstration as it shows in the chapter Parmesan a grana padano, which is not a parmesano reggiano The padano has also a pretty different taste and texture. I've tasted in the States some pretty good cheeses all from small producers working sometimes in the fringe of legality. But the cheeses found in the supers are terrifying. Let's talk about countries where cheese is a tradition, often a thousand years old: Italy (at least more than 300 kinds), France (more than 400 varieties) , Spain (a good hundred), Switzerland (dozens of varieties), Greece, Turkey and I forget many. In Europe there are very stringent rules about denominations, origin zones and methods of fabrication. In the traditional cheeses, made in very precise places, chemical additives are totally prohibited. It seems you have never tasted genuine Cantal, Morbier, Comté, Appenzeller, Pecorino, or Manchego to name a few... Industrial cheddar tastes like a bad joke compared with tens of European and Mid Orient cheeses.

I think cheddar shouldn't have won. Sure it's the most iconic but they break that rule throughout the video. And sure it's cheap and convenient but by far not the best cheese. We really need to accept this as a society or this will continue to happen.

I'm from the Netherlands, and here -of course- Gouda is be the most standard/iconic cheese to find. It's also my favorite cheese, especially when well aged. I also really like brie, though.

Travnik cheese or Vlašićki cheese is one of the most significant in the central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is highland cheese similar in its salty taste to Travnički, originates in the villages on Vlašić Mountain. Travnik cheese is produced entirely in the Vlasic belt and has sesquipedalian tradition. This famous cheese is prepared with milk from the local breeds such as sheep and the cow. So, the fresh whey forms a mass of 20 kilos. Then it is divided into one or possibly two-kilo cubes and placed in brine. Those are characteristic wooden containers. The cheese is sold in these containers only in the Travnik zone. NUMBER ONE IN THE WORLD !!!

Cannot understand why so many people are complaining about the awkwardness of this list: as they have done a list about wines, or pizzas, they've done one about cheese, that is actually one of the widest branch in the food production business. And besides, stuff like Parmigiano, Mozzarella, Feta, Emmental, Brie, etc, are quite iconic and rapresentative of the places they are produced in. Just a single note, even if quite important: when you talked about Parmigiano Reggiano (that's just Parmigiano Reggiano, Parmesan ain't anything at all, just a fake imitation) you showed another cheese, the Grana Padano: even if the two are quite similar both in shape and flavour, they are two different cheeses, produced in different places, with different procedures and by different consortia!

Cheese is basically milk loaf. Change my mind.

Below is the only way I ever eat apples because I don't really like them that much but 2 Honey Crisp apples with some sharp cheese and crackers with Guldens' spicey mustard and a glass of chardonnay or chablis is my favorite lunch. But I am flexible on the variety of apple and the brand of crackers. I also seldom drink wine or eat cheddar cheese without the other 2 parts of my 3 piece ensemble. I always slice the apples into thin sections before I begin. This is my lunch 2-3 times a week. Or sometimes I eat this for dinner. It surprises me sometimes how much the taste of one fruit or vegetable can be enhanced by what other things you eat them with. WRZ Delaware County, PA metro-Philadelphia

Cheddar is from England (where I live) and I went to the USA and the cheddar there tasted horrible. You guys in the states need to come to England and taste the real thing.

You probably had American cheese , not Cheddar. American cheese is almost always garbage but it’s good on burgers. English Cheddar and American Cheddar isn’t usually that different in quality if you get it in the rigth places (as in not from kraft)
