Glad you don't mind it! I know some of the books will be repeated in the final list but I feel like December is so far out
Really great seeing Carrion Comfort on here.
Cackle (Rachel Harrison) is fun to read after Bloom, both include farmer’s markets and strange women :)
Cujo is up there for me. King’s You Like It Darker is really good too. I finally read Chasing The Boogeyman which you recommended to me some time ago. You were right. I loved it!!

Love these videos, keep them coming!
Great list!
Added Bloom to my tbr. You made it sound so good!
Bloom is one of my top books of the year so far. Cat's Eye sounds intriguing, I'll have to jot that one down.
Cats eye and Bloom went on my list now. I read Secret History and liked it at the time. Interesting others too. Thx!
Carrion Comfort, and Moon Lake are on my tbr. The other books mentioned sound interesting as well. My favorite backlist titles read so far in 2024 are Cujo, Maggie's Grave, Mine, The Damnation Game and (#1) All the Sinners Bleed.
So many I’m interested in, and I’ve never heard of Rainbirds, thanks! I picked up Ghost Radio on your recommendation this year and I absolutely loved it. I had to put down my questions and confusion and just go with it, but when I did it made it such a great story to be immersed in. I was curious if you’ve read any Joyce Carol Oates? I don’t remember ever hearing you talk of her. I’m interested in her novels, but never know where to start, her new one Butcher sounds interesting. But I admit there’s something really intimidating about her novels.

So glad you enjoyed Ghost Radio. I have read a couple of books by Oates but definitely need to read more
I think that mean girls in high school are a popular trope. Cat's Eye is about mean girls in elementary school. When I read it I was immediately back in the fourth grade. I remember saying to myself. "Yes this is what the girls I went to school with were like."

That's a really good point
I have Rainbirds on my TBR I’m really excited for it
LOVE Margaret Atwood's work! Instantly ordered Rainbirds - sounds like it might be the perfect summer read for me. Thank you for your recommendations, I always discover new-to-me authors through your videos!

Oh thanks! So happy you also love Atwood
I love The Secret History. Some new dark academia for adults is needed.
"Woman in the dunes" was written by Kobo Abe and I read this very fine novel about fifty years ago. The author portrays a woman and a man forced to live their lives at the bottom of an ever growing sand dune and I found the novel dark and deeply disturbing but thankfully not violent. The author places you right there at the bottom of the sand dune with sweat and sand mixed together on your skin. This is not an uplifting story but the relationship between the man and the woman is most engaging. Highly recommended.
I loved Cat’s Eye!
I'll check out APPARITIONS.
Would love to hear your comparison of Battle Royale (book) vs the two cult classic movies of the same name.
I prefer Dan Simmons' horror - really enjoyed "The Abominable" and "Song of Kali"
"Relic" two authors Preston and Child. Second book I actually thought it was better than the first, Reliquary. The movie, The Relic is based on the book. Amazing horror books!
I really liked Secret History
Ring Shout was pretty good
It took me the better part of a month to read The Secret History because of all the annotations, tabs, and post-its in there😂

@@TheShadesofOrange Can you think of any others off the top of your head?
The only good horror books I've read this year is The Watchers by A.M Shine and Jaws by Peter Benchley. Been struggling to find the right books.

Between two Fires is medieval horror. Creepy as hell
You should read lost man’s lane by Scott Carson is the best new coming of age horror novel I’m read! Also Lansdales Fine Dark Line is a close second!

On my hold list!
recently read Lilith about a female anti-gun vigilante pretty good though can't recall author's name⚛😀❤
Bloom: fantastic read. A Botanical Daughter (Noah Medlock): another great read that's way to low on GR's star rating. Julia (Sandra Newman): Brutal. 5 stars for me. Strange Sally Diamond (Liz Nugent). Audiobook is the only way to go with this one. Eileen (Ottessa Moshfegh): For all the readers who thought they liked horror , but couldn't handle Paradais (Fernanda Melchor).
I recommend you Confessions by Kanae Minato

@@TheShadesofOrange Yep. He was in his alcohol/drug phase when he wrote it. I got that from his book On Writing.
If you enjoy kidnapping stories make sure to pick up A Child Aline With Strangers by Philip Fracassi.

Fun Fact: Stephen King doesn't remember writing Cujo. He was on so much booze and blow that when he came to, he had a finished book that is pretty dang good.
