You forgot to mention that chilling rap verse from "Bigger!" and this was the #1 reason why it's #1 lol. "There's a kid in the middle of nowhere sitting there, living for Tony performances singin' and flippin' along with the Pippins and Wickeds and Kinkys, Matildas and Mormonses. So we might reassure that kid and do something to spur that kid cause I promise you all of us up here tonight. WE WERE THAT KID and now we're bigger." Then the crowd went nutttsssss!

the first time i watched it i was over the moon and i get the same feeling every single time i watch it,, it just never gets old!!

The NPH closing wrap that was written during the show will always be #1 in my heart!

If NPH isn’t number 1, you get a dislike. I’m not disappointed

Bigger definitely deserves top spot! The music, lyrics, and choreography were amazing, original and breath-taking! It got a standing ovation for a reason!

2011 was by far the best year. The opening, the Jackman and NPH duet, and Andrew Rannells setting the ratings record for his "I believe" performance that still hasn't been close to beaten today.

That number 1 really is the biggest, the best and the most memorable thing I've seen from the Tonys ever. It was moving, entertaining and incredibly fun.

Every single time NPH hosted I knew that the opening would be one of the best numbers I’d ever seen and I was never disappointed… indeed, as you showed in your #1 pick, his last hosting gig had him pulling out all the stops & it’s almost laughable that it starts out at an amateur night w NPH hesitantly stepping up to the mic to introduce himself: *Hi. I’m Neil.* And then it ends with hundreds of actors all over RC Music Hall and NPH holding onto a *HUGE* Tony Award while the crowd gives everybody about a five minute SO. It was magical! (And I’ll admit, I ADORED the HELLO opening the year before [prior to Neil’s bit] and indeed was an *ENORMOUS* fan from 2011, so I was completely shocked that he managed to blow those away!!) 😂😂😂🥰🥰🥰

Angela Lansbury is so amazing, she doesn’t need backup dancers nor fancy circus acts to put out a great performance.

I may have outgrown from the cartoon since the middle of my high school career. But the early seasons were a big part of my preteen years. Plus the new musical looks so cleverly done. Especially with projection sets and costumes. And the composers involved is a mouthful

I want Lin-Manuel Miranda to host the Tonys next year.

I would too, but he's said a few times he's not interested in hosting duties. But maybe if it was him and Hugh and NPH, maybe he'd change his mind.

I was gonna say if NPH/Bigger from 2013 WASNT #1 and anyone who thinks it shouldn’t be, you’re just dead wrong. Everything else is up for debate, but Bigger from that year...IS THE BEST, PERIOD. And I still am kicking myself for working that night of that year...

It's amazing for sure. I was working in the oilfields in North Dakota at the time stuck in a trailer with three other smelly roughnecks and we happened upon this on TV. By the end all 4 of us were like holy shit! we should go to a Broadway show!

Whenever NPH hosts it’s a true spectacle!

This could be you from 2015 has made me cry every time I’ve watched it. So beautiful.

I'll never get tired of watching "bigger" over and over. They didn't even mention the circus stunts and magic tricks!

The gorgeous, multitalented Julie Andrews is a treasure! She is awesome!

Admittedly the audience for this show is heavily biased in favor of a good stage production, but when that audience gives you a one minute standing ovation then you have done something great. NPH did that with 'bigger'.

I think the 73rd Tony awards 2019 should be added to this list

my favourite tonys openings are always the ones that draw attention to the current shows on broadway. the tonys is mostly for the new shows that hit the past year but i always like when they draw attention to the long running shows that are still on but past their award season

I friggin love NPH

The broadway divas will forever be my all time favorite. Patti Lupone, Jennifer Holiday, and Betty Buckley blew it out of the water.

The 2013 show will probably never be topped. It had everything and none of the jokes laid an egg. Now I realize why there were so many words in the songs though. That Lin Manuel. Shew!

I love the 1996 and 2004 openings the most! Neil Patrick Harris is an amazing host too.
